What the hell....

Ninjas might not be the best tanks early on, but people only invite ninjas to tank. Summoners often mainheal at levels where a summoner isn't an ideal main healer. Warriors tend to sub ninja right from level one even though it does no good. People don't seem to care if something "works", so long as it's cookie cutter. It's easier to suffer extended downtime and many deaths than to adjust a job's percieved role in a party. Remember, you're not in a party for your own benefit. You pt to benefit five other players, and those five other players dislike efficiency. They like strict adherance to percieved tradition. So yeah, follow the rules, whether they work or not, and you'll get along just fine.

When I got Utsusemi for my NIN at Lv12, I knew what I was doing already. Partied with another NIN in the Dunes last week... had Lv7 leather equipment on and dual wielding daggers... Same party there was a PLD with Lv1 bronze equipment. Both of these people were Lv16... Didn't really get me mad until I saw our Taru BRD was taking less damage than the PLD. PLD is about the equipment almost as much as it is about skill... if you're going to be over 61 levels of experience, you should have atleast some equipment to tank with, especially as PLD... (61= 15 for subjob minimum, 30 for flag quest, 16 for current level... MINIMUM)

But that's aside the point, maybe the NIN lady there was just trying to show that NIN's can do other than tank... which I don't think is possible without a strong subjob like WAR anyway. Either way, you're looking at having to sub WAR.

Other than tank? She wasn't doing squat! She DCed at one point and we never even knew! That's how useless she was! Once in a blue moon she'd wep skill for maybe 30 points of dmg, but that's it.

idc where you are, being a NIN means that you have atleast one job to 30. You should be able to comprehend how to play at that point.

Until @ lvl 25 Im generaly happy to make any experience at all.

Until then there is really almost no telling a war from a sam from a pld from a thf - the class defining abilities and spells really arent substantial before that point.

And there are plenty of "unorthadox" but very effective job combos out there - I was recently in an XP as a 40-42 NIN/blm. I was able to DD during the early chain and spam the wheel to tank and do great damage the last few mobs in the chain for easy chain 5s in West altepa. It was much more effective than a BLM at that lvl since I was not dependent on MP since our rdm was not yet 41 for refresh.

but spamming the wheel solely as a DD is friggin expensive >.>

nin/thf has its place, but really only for soloing.

Did I not just say that? lol
I said you're looking at minimum 60 levels of experience at NIN Lv15.

I actually like the strategy I've developed that I wish everyone would be smart enough to follow... (going NIN/WAR for example)
1. Sub-subjob to Lv19, in this case MNK, get subjob
2. Subjob to Lv37, in this case WAR
3. Main to Lv75, in this case NIN.

This strategy's cool because you're over and done with your jobs and your equipment, thus giving you more money and room for your following job. Like I said, quit it with the underleveled subjobs. If you have time to level your main, you have time to get equipment and subjob level.

yeah, kinda a late post >.>

lol, i also came to this pt to pt with an LS mate (Blinxx) came on my WAR17. I wanted to get lvl 18 so i could have full sub on NIN37(to quit it) After i got my lvl i don't know how many times i died, lol. I had lots of fun. I never slowed down the pt unless MAx took my hate. We had a competition for hate >.< i said MY HATE and i meant it lol. MAX's SA was nice lol. I like that i could OP at my lvl because of the event and not slow down our pt. NIN/THF WAR/MNK THF/WAR SMN/BLM WHM/BLM WAR/nothing Had it not been for Max and Blinxx i mighta been more pissed. Thanks for putting me on your sig. you pimp you -.- :P

I managed to get my Ninja to 37 but as a Tarutaru it was damn hard...but I did it anyways. I suppose this other person's problem is they started the job without considering the cost in Shihei and figured they could "cheap it out" and let someone else get slapped around for them. By-the-way have you seen the price of tools recently? <(0.o)>
