What's for dinner?

O_o I'm making steak w/ carmelized onions (lawl), green beans and red potatos with garlic and basil :3

Yes I'm one of those crazy people that tends to make menus for their meal week.

Actually, Hardee's ripped off the Carl's Jr. star. I grew up in California eating Carl's Jr.; I had never even heard of Hardees until around '97 until I moved to Kansas City and they had Hardees there.

I remember all this stuff vividly, as I was a big fan of Carl's Jr. They used to have commercials with Dennis Rodman where he dyed his hair white and had the red star on his head and had the motto "If it doesn't get all over the place, it doesn't belong in your face." Great times! In fact, I think my parents still have my two star christmas ornaments from the early 80's, far earlier than when Hardee's changed their logo.

In 1997, the chain was acquired by CKE Restaurants, the parent company of the Carl's Jr. fast-food restaurant chain. (Imasco retained the few remaining Roy Rogers locations, though CKE is reported to do some supplying of them). Over time, some Hardee's restaurants were converted to serve higher-quality hamburgers and other products available from Carl's Jr., and also took on the Carl's Jr. star logo in the process. Some locations were simply fully-rebranded Carl's Jr., this was a year after Wendy's and Tim Hortons purchased most of the Hardee's stores in Michigan.

The slogan for Carl's Jr. in the film "Idiocracy" -- "Fuck you! I'm eating!" is a direct homage to the slogan for the company at the time the film was being made -- "Don't bother me, I'm eating" also.
 
Hardee's has the best breakfast of any fast food restaurant, hands down. If they served it all day I'd be a 300 pound hambeast for sure. Luckily I'm a late riser.

Today I had to kinda scrape together some random leftovers for lunch, and I think it turned out pretty well. I made myself a spicy tuna melt. Canned tuna, diced celery, mayo, and a liberal dose of Frank's Red Hot, assembled between two slices of swiss cheese and then bracketed in two slices of rye bread. Then grill it in butter over med-low heat on both sides til the cheese is melted and the bread is nicely browned. My only regret is I didn't use enough hot sauce.

If you have a crockpot you can make the world's best pulled pork. You take pork shoulder, rub it liberally with salt, pepper, and brown sugar, toss it into a crockpot. Pour over enough worcestershire to cover the bottom of the crock pot, add a few dashes of liquid smoke if desired, and put it on low for about 8 hours. After 8 hours it's tender enough that you can just pull it apart with 2 forks. Toss it on a bun with your favorite barbecue sauce and indulge in pork heaven. Pork shoulder is usually super-cheap too, I can get it on sale for only about 99 cents a pound.

The Hardee's in North Little Rock is open 24/7 and they serve their full menu 24/7.

My brother's wife makes this homemade chicken wing pizza that is freakin awesome. She like shreds cooked chicken and then lets it simmer it in a mixture of frank's hot sauce, bleu cheese dressing and butter I think (not for the calorie counters), and cooks it over pizza dough with mozzarella cheese. Holy cow it's good.

The other thing I crave is my good friend's Chicken Fettucine Alfredo. He makes the sauce from scratch with Parmesan and Romano cheese and real cream. Cuts up the chicken it small bite sized pieces and sautees them in olive oil with garlic and other spices. It's rich, but it's awesome.

No, I was not aware of that. I grew up around lots of Hardee'ses' when I was a kid in WI and never even heard of Carl's Jr's till I moved to CO. It looked like the "Hardee's of the midwest" so I said "fuck you" to that. Meh, I still probably won't eat there. Carl's Jr's =/= Hardee's, I want HARDEE'S bitch!
