Is there a problem with playing a certain way and not anyother? Is there anything wrong with subbing a job that YOU want to? What's that big deal with people wanting you to level a sub job your not going to use?

I'm a pure SAM/RNG and I know what I have to go through. I could level up THF and WAR, I could sub them, but I don't like the SATA bandwagon. Its a problem every DD must go through. SE is trying to make jobs better so you don't have to sub NIN for WAR or THF for a DD. :O Noone should have to do something IN A GAME just so they can fit in or get a party. Its sad when you see a Sam/war hit 60 and drop war til 70+. Its sad to see almost everyone subbing thf and have the uniques looking for parties.

I've leveled SAM/RNG 1-69 in valefor. I was a one of the top DDs (2nd to mnk sometimes).

Here is the thing and this argument has been discussed many times. There is a fine line between doing what you want and effecting others. Sure you pay for the game so you have rights to play any way you want. But when you agree to get into an exp party you are now effecting five other player's game and yuo owe it to them to provide a job combo that that works best.

Not saying your wrong or anyhting just brining up the point that sure yuo are entitled to play your own way but you have to consider the fact then in a game such as this unless your soloing your ablities and choices effect others too

Hell a party is always allowed to merely ask if you could sub WAR or THF to fit their needs.

...And you are always entitled to say no.

I myself dont like to sub RNG with SAM, because you manly have to keep a distance to max out damage and acc with a bow. But if people want to do that im ok this it. I agree i dont like to sub THF tho, yea i could get 700-800 Tachi: Gekko's but thats only every 30secs. I love to sub WAR alot more usefull in an EXP PT Double Attack = more tp, which = more WS, More STR, Berserk.

But its up to you the choose you make, thats only my opinion above but you do what you want unless you dont have the skill or gear to go with it (and ive seen you around and you do have top gear for your lvl).

truer words have never been said. Also like to point out when you played on valafor that was pre ranger adjustment? If was damage and acc are way diffent from then and now. by the way
sam/rng:tup: in my book but I be doughting the dot vs /war and /thf

Its your choice but you will find alot less invites if you can not fit to a pt.

You're free to sub whatever you want the same way other people are free to not invite you for it.

I feel ya on the SAM/RNG bit. We catch all sorts of crap just for wanting the play the game a different way from the masses. Hearing shit like "lol can you even hit the mob?" Or "/THF or /WAR is better for (whateverthefuckbsreason)". I /RNG for the varity, for the flair. Rather then SaTa Gekko, play with my dick for 60 seconds, Gekko, repeat. Or /WAR which is actually more boring, as you just whack away and SC when yer partners ready. With /RNG, you can actually do shit. With all the TP building skills, the new RA patch, you can actually have a fair bit of fun running all over the place mixing melee and range fighting. But! Because you can't put up the same big pretty numbers as a /THF, you're treated like a second class melee. No, my Sidewinder can't break 1k damage on anything aside from a VT bird or Zerk'd dhalmel, but guess what? I can put up atleast 2 Sidewinders per SaTa period, and if not match the damage, come close enough to it that it doesnt matter. So is that extra 200 damage a fight worth the amount of fun it sucks out of the job? No. But that's how it is. And until people start thinking and using thier brains, that's how it's gonna stay.

Heh, /rantoff

I got no invites as a DRG/THF even though I was uber. :(

It's a dead-horse argument, really. You can sub whatever you want, but your monthly fee doesn't pay for a party's indulgence.

on diffent note im surpise there no sam/drk or sam/drg out there.

I like the Sam/Rng combo. ;D My buddy does it and it's awesome.

He only subs /War when the need calls for it.

And yea Spriggan more or less hits the nail on the head. Ranged atacks while meleeing are next to worthless, and will only negatively hurt TP.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to play your own way. Some subs are better for EXPing... I'd get no invites as NIN57/DRG11 with a search comment saying "DRG SUB ONLY!" But if 'playing your own way' means playing solo, or goofing off with a bunch of friends, then yes do what you want. Levelling up with certain jobs require some subs, under-levelled subs to the extreme can effect your performance. Sure, a level or 2 under-level doesn't really bother me, but to the point where it ruins the party, because it fucks up, isn't a great choice.

All these arguements are ok and everything, but you are forgetting one thing:

Doing something unorigional is something not many people look at and say "hey i want to invite them". People are afraid of change, and will hardly give a second glance if you try something YOU think is better. If someone complains at you for not doing something, tell them to go find someone else. Of course you pay 13$+ per month, as do they, and I have hardly been on as much as I usually do, and im practically wasting my money, but do you see people complaining about me not being on and how it affects them? no. So ignore people who try to convince you to do something you dont want to do unless it causes mass murder in a logical sense. EX: You go war/thf and try to tank... result: party death unless the blm does escape in a dungeon or the mages warp. Just do what you want and do not join in on what people think unless it is what you think is beneficial

With /whm and /blm for my RDM, I can fit as (always, main support) backup healer or backup nuker. Which means that I will probably get into more parties with them both leveled than a RDM with only BLM sub.

RNG sub is fine for SAM, but it's nice to offer variety, as every party is a little bit different.

Woah, woah, woah. SAM Sharpshot -> Sidewinder -> Meditate -> Sidewinder is next to useless?

People stick with what they know with the fear that it won't work. That's why you rarely see /SAM and /RNG in EXP parties. And it's a shame, really..

Usually when a party asks you for a specific sub, they have a reason. It's fine that you play how you want to and all, but when you're in a party your choices directly effect other people and you need to be considerate of them. What if they need you to be the first provoke for a thf to setup SATA, you need /war, and if you don't have it or refuse to use it they'll get someone who will. It's unreasonable for you to force 5 other people to have to adjust their party dynamic to fit what you want to sub just because you don't want to sub war or thf.

You don't want to conform to a party dynamic, solo your way to 75. That's your choice, just like it's everyone's choice to not invite you because you refuse to sub anything other than rng.

You pay your monthly $$$, so you have every right to play how you want. This much is very true.

However, I also pay $$$, so therefore I have every right to choose NOT to play with you.

Everytime I read these posts, I have to laugh at the irony. On the surface, they appear to say that they are just trying to be different and not confirm to others, but what the post really is, is a whine fest about how others won't conform to them.
