I'm looking for some new places, online or in magazine to gather information about upcoming games and the gaming industry in general. I have a few already, I was just curious what everyone here followed.

For trailers I obviously use Gametrailer.com and for games I already know about, Gamespot. I buy the odd Nintendo Power issue here and there but that's just because I was so fond of it growing up.

I'm going into school this January for Game Development so I thought I should increase my resources. What do you all use?

I noted them, thanks. Gamefaqs I use for game breakthroughs.

I use gamefly for my news. They have user reviews and links to a slew of critic reviews. The user reviews are usually a lot more spot on than the critic's. Plus since you have to pay to use it, the only people that do use it are pretty smart. I haven't seen a single "PS3 no games/enjoy your ring/troll trolling trolls" post in the years i've had it.

www.n4g.com is the site I use, its broken into console sections, all, and some other sections like mobile, industry etc. The thing thats nice about N4G is that its basically a news collector, so it pools articles from a ton of gaming sites and get reposted there, much like digg, slashdot etc. So you can get an idea of the article then jump to it, its also ranked on how hot the article is etc.

The-magicbox, kotaku, gamefly, n4g... I've never heard of any of those, thanks.

I like n4g, mostly because I can not check it for days and then just scroll through all the title headlines in a few minutes then click on anything interesting.

The only down side is some rather rabid fanboys like the manipulate the news, either by linking opinion pieces that have no actual news content or create their own blogs and then link to them as news. It's all automated and not well regulated so it happens rather frequently. It doesn't offend me but god damn it wastes thousands of people's time wading through that shit. Especially because some of it has misleading titles to make you think something important just happened.

Like there was one that said "Microsoft funds PS3 development!" and I was like, "WTF!?" and I clicked on it and they were talking about how some company got a stipend from MS to give the 360 a timed exclusives and then used that money to make the PS3 version better(in the opinion of the writer who has no fucking information at all about it). I have to just sigh at how stupid people can be, recognize I've just lost a few minutes of my limited lifetime on this earth and move on.

ign.com is a common one. Has good reviews and video reviews. I used to use gamepro magazine growing up but its been years since I read one of those so I don't know how much has changed.

I'll never forget when ign.com said Resident Evil 0 would be 7 discs long.

I tend to use GameInformer for my gaming news, theyve always been good to me, IGN on the other hand >.>

Collectivley I have:

Joystiq
1up
Gamefaqs
GayGamer (not that gay)
The Magic Bus
Kotaku (Didn't work for me)
Gamefly
N4g.com

I like N4g.com the most mainly for it's organization. Gamefly is one of the best ideas I've ever seen and I'm thinking about signing up for it.

The news appear faster on joystiq and the magic box, but ign has higher res pics and videos. This 3 are where it's at.
