When peopl stop being nice, and start getting REAL

The point is Meeze, the xp party didn't want to try it. Therefore they agreed to the next best thing which was letting him change jobs and get the manpower to take the gobbie.

It is a totally moot point whether or not they 'could' take the gobbie with the xp party. That is not what the OP was addressing. It was whether or not they should've booted the guy while he took an hour off the party.

It isn't moot, it is an alternative option to losing 1 hour partying.

The best/simplist solution is to kill the NM and keep on moving along with 6k an hour. The other options are lose/lose situations for the party as a whole.

The question wasn't posed so he could jump in a time machine, he was posing it as what would be normal protocol. Protocol is killing the mob with a party that high and doing that well.

Ok so this weekend sparked a question of interest, when do you stop being nice to people in FFXI and start playing for yourself.

Situation: We were in Gustav Tunnel leveling our 57-59 party on crabs and gobs when Wyvernpoacher Drachlox pops. Obviously me being the NM killer I am want to take it, but I know we can't. It took him about an hour to get some friends to come, to get back to the area, and to kill it.

At what point in time do you just say screw this and kick him? We were pulling in close to 6k an hour using someone's exp add-in so if you think about it, at that level that's almost half a level we lost out on so he could get his o-bow.

Their party CAN take it. He talked himself out of it. Next party that goes down there this level and this happens, kill the NM. Don't let your RNG go all the way back to jeuno to get his lvl 75 job and friends wasting an hour of your time, kill the fucking NM and keep xp'n.

Ugh. You're drivin' me nuts!!!!

Imma rng and i definalty would have left that pt to get that bow. Ppl fail to realize thats the best xbow in the game and 6k an hour is slightly abouve average xp. It was well worth it todo it even if he didnt get a drop. that pt prob would have killed it but you never know.

this isnt the case all the time ppl xp in that tunnel all the time even rngs and knowing the best xbow in the game happend to drop where you frequently xp can me to temping for some rngs. What he should have done is called his friend to the tunnel formed a alliance and killed like that. Then he could have still been xpin while your friends were coming to help. Ive helped a friend kill the nm I lost the loot on it to a lower lvl rng but that rng didnt have to stop his xp pt from gettin xp. A farely good lvl 54-60 pt can easly kill that nm if 1-2 75 ppl came to assist them in fighting it

I dont tihnk a 55 PLD could tank it for a couple reasons. First of all at about 50% he uses EES. Which will kill the Paladin, Without a tank he would rip the rest of the party to pieces... Thats the first reason. Not to mention he is a 70-75 mob. So hes at least 15 levels above the pld. He would pwn the pld very hard. I doubt the paladin would even make it to 50% without wasting all of the whm and rdm MP and dying.

Honestly, it was a good tihng you let him go, I spent a long time out of my life getting Othinus Bow. I went 1/7 camping at least 2 hours each time. You saved that Ranger much more time than the entire party lost prolly.

Screw you Zoo, Lets exp sometimes ill tear your pussy ass Samarui up :p

I always thought Guivre's Skull was 100% drop. Guess not lol

And I think it was nice of you to help the Ranger out and get the OBow. It is a good bow and I would have been all for helping a fellow player out.

Oh hell no!!!!! You just think you are^^ .

Well what most people miss is the fact that there are very few NMs that spawn in good leveling areas that can't be killed by a party that is EXPing off of mobs there. I think that all of the people in the party should wait just for being too pussy to try to kill it as a party. If I see an NM when I am a puller and know that it is maybe just a little harder than than the mobs we are EXPing off of the next thing you will see when WHM gets close to full MP is /p Incoming NM <call14>. Many a time though I had to do just that, and died because some people are too pussy to voke, or heal, or engage just because of the "impossible to gauge" thing. To all of those I say, HAHAHAHA dumbass. To the people who will give it a shot though,I salute you and say keep up the good work.

Which is a fine attitude to have. I don't think it's fair to say that you MUST feel this way. Peoples own item greed and goals should not trump the exp of the entire group, unless if the entire group is fine by it.

I realize you are only stating an opinion Kyr and this is not to argue with you, but the bolded above bothers me about the way you worded it. I do understand what you're trying to say, but I'm gonna put a different perspective on it other than greed and goals. Basically I look at it more like, "one hand washes ther other" or "you get what you give". Karma, my friend, goes a helluva long way.

Dont get me wrong, i enjoy helping people too. Its what this game is about, and without help for others nothing would ever be accomplished in this game.

With that said, I play on a very limited, sparatic schedule. At times i can only get on for 2-3 hours at a time. So if i join an XP party, and from the moment we start i tell the pt i have exactly 3 hours from now until i have to leave...id be pissed if someone left for an hour, no matter what the reason. And with the same feeling, i wouldnt expect anyone to wait for me. Id simply try and find a replacement for myself, or just tell the party i was going to leave.

Also i agree with Kat, this isnt about whether they COULD have killed it at all, its asking if they should have kicked the RNG, instead of waiting. If i was in an XP party and an NM popped that i didnt know much about, i wouldnt try and kill it either. The risk would be much higher than the reward for everyone if you didnt know what you were getting into.

I think kat has a good point not very many NMs spawn in commonly know xp areas. The wyvernpoarcher however isnt a heavly camped nm though but can be a great hinderance to xp if your always worried about linking a NM while pulling. But rememeber that drops tthe best xbow in the game lets say your tankin in a ares well lets say this ubber body piece of gear dropped that is the best body gear in the game for a tank. Would you just pass up an chance to get that gear early? That save lots of nm camping time in the futire sayin that the wyvernpoacher is like a 12 hour respawn. People get xp pts all the time even with some ppls time restraint. I agree with kat the wyvernpoacher isnt that hard to kill a decent 55-60 pt can kill him no problem. If a group or pussies suddenly get in my way of getting one of the best weapons in the game for my job I would leave that pt in a sec and and get help and kill it. How about next time that happens for a alliance with another pt there and get the nm out of your way so you can all pull safely. Cuz a nm link on the pull will kill your pt so just prepare for it and get the nm out of your way.

I've seen 55 plds tank that thing, and tanked it myself as a 54 NIN. The mob is 1-3 levels above the mobs they are xp'n off, so no the PLD won't get pwned.

The ranger was in the XP party and they could have even chained the NM after like my party did.

The risk is a wipe, 300 xp at that lvl? The reward is 6k xp for that wasted hour and possibly a happy member of your party that may stay the extra 2k so you can lvl.

If you're scared of taking a death, might as well stop leveling now cause losing tons of xp is what end game is all about.
