Manthras were established to exist within the mithran race-- whether that was actually a myth or not passed down by player to player I am not for certain. Although, it does seem to be a great possibility due to the oppression of mithras established within the game's story line. However, I have come to be curious of the story line behind Galkas. So much in fact, that I have even so much as considered changing my nation to Bastok to be able to open clues to how they came about. I do know they were made into slaves by the humes to work within the mines. Or so I have come to gather. Corrections here are always welcome. Yet, there are no female galkas. Now many might see this as a good thing due to the brute nature of the galka. Personally I would find it inspiring, but personal feelings aside...

...how are there galka children (male children)... and yet no female galkas.

The same debate could be said about female mithra children, but I hope that perhaps you could assist me in my debatical. /bow

galka are asexual, and usually asexual animals IRL lay eggs, so that's my assumption.

Glakas die and are re-incarnated. what ive read lead me to beleive that they just sort of spawn somewhere and find their way home.

Actually galka's are non-sexual. We simply exist and when we are struck down we wake up in the sands of altepa. I could swear it's covered in the manual somewhere.

Edit, from the manual racial blurb: The galka are a phiscally imposing race, and are the minority population of Bastok. Characterized by their hulking frams, the galka are renowned for their unsurpassed strength. The galka reproduce through a form of reincarnation and hence have no specific gender but are generally considered to be male.

Everything i've ever heard and seen in the game said that Altepa was our ancestral home. Personally, i don't think it makes a whole lot of sense that we come from the desert, i alwasy figured beaucidine or fei yin as more suited to our physical form, but meh.

So they were asexual then? Well.. there are those egg sacks in quicksand caves.... but I always assumed that is where the spiders hatched from...

...maybe the truth is... that there are galkas in there!

Heh. You can't "reincarnate" if there's nothing to reincarnate into. So you're still left with "where do baby galka come from". I doubt the stork is willing to carry that load.

I, of course, figured it out long ago.
When a galka gets to a ripe old age.
He simply explodes.
And the shards left over grow into new galka.

There you have it.

Galka reproduce through explosion.

Pssh how does that work? If they die why not just home point like the rest of us...

No .. no sex to it ... not even with ourselves .... (i feel dirty for even writing that last bit :P) As far as the book explination goes we simply just are ... much in the same way all the other races just came to be .. surely they have genders.. but you're bordering on virtual theology :P I'd say the egg sacks have more to do with anticans and beetles than anything, could be though.

Which came first, the chocobo or the egg?

lol, make is sound like they are hermaproditic <.<

Yea they're asexual because they have been reincarnated.

The first is that of the journey of rebirth. When a galka reaches the right age, it sets out on a journey to find a high mountain or a place of solitude where it will live out it's last days. There a bright light envelopes in and the is reborn. Those who leave never come back and around a year later a young galka wanders back into the village/town. It is assumed this is the galka who was reborn, but the galka holds no memories of it's past life. All but one that is, the talekeeper. The talekeeper is the only truly reborn galka, which carries the memories of all the past galka, though not for all time like many think. The talekeeper only carries the past 200 years, which is easier than all of galka time, but still a burden. It is in this that most talekeepers meet their fate. No talekeeper has ever lived long enough to be reborn, which is brings up other questions about the journey of rebirth.

There :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asexual_reproduction

Reincarnation is a metaphysical reproduction. Asexuality has nothing to do with it.

Edit: Who told you asexual animals, of which there are very few and the word "animal" would have to be used loosely, laid eggs, tymon? O.o

I read it, but is it like .... from somewhere credible to the game or is it a fanfic, i'm confuzzled.

On a side note i hate people being misinformed about the galka race, i take it to heart having been galka prodominantly throughout my playing. Also, it's important that people know wtf they're talking about when it comes to big intelligent words like hermaphrodite and asexual, god forbid someone use these in conversation around people with no intellectual forgiveness, call it a public service ;)

no..just plainly no...
Galka's are just asexual.. and they reincarnate..

Mithran males are rare.. so they stay in the village used as a sex machine.
