"Whm dont need gear"

It really makes me sad when I hear mages talk like this.

I am in a pt now in garliage and this WHM Nirrti is wearing minimal gear (no seers gear at all) consisting of a bastok ring and other goodies.

I call her out on this and she starts attacking me saying I am a dumbass, a bad blu etc. etc. "WHM dont need gear" "MND doesnt do anything for WHM" etc. Pretty silly. Anyway, what bugs me is she is wearing The Flock LS . I have huge respect for this group and I dont want to see ppl like this ruin the name of a good LS.

The point is if you are going to lvl a job, fucking do it right. I dont care if you "bring a PL" or whatever, if you dont have good gear, your not playing your job right and you lack pride in the job.....just dont lvl it. end of story.

Ppl like this just support my theory that overall skill is decreasing in this game.. this is up there with gimped subs and all that. Maybe its a pet peeve, I dunno, but it bugs the hell out of me.

It's probably more of a pet-peeve than a fact, really. A naked whm could easily fill a spot in a party. He/she might not serve as spectacular of a job as he/she could have done in better gear, but if the player has any skill whatsoever it won't matter all that much. It's not like his cure is going to miss.

while i never cared if peoples gear was the best..they should at least put forth some effort...

seers isn't that expensive or hard to get..and you can store the whole set...no reason not too

whm always had that little string attached about not needing gear. you just end up with a whm that can ONLY cure. dont expect to lan eny enfeebs in IT mobs if you're gearless.

Hmmmm...

No, I agree with Kunel on this one. A WHM with no gear or horribly gimp gear is simply unacceptable. Having played WHM I can safely say that being naked would hinder a party considerably, and said WHM would be a waste of space and time.

If I were party leader, I would have booted them.

I'm pretty sure the main problem would tend to be whm scarcity. Bet you anything as soon as that whm flagged up, the party leader went "oh shit! whm! yes!" and just invited. You don't have a lot of options at that level. If a whm pops on screen, most leaders will scramble to get him/her.

Meh I have great gear on my whm and still can't land any enfeebs - it suxx D:.

Also a whm with gear has more mp and stronger cures which means less downtime. If you need a healer I'm a 32 RDM....with a back up, I'm pretty kick ass with the mad healing skillz.

Be that as it may, scarcity should not justify gimpage. If a WHM is too cheap or lazy to have appropriate (doesn't need to be stellar, but sensible) equipment for their level, then I am not going to make it my business to give them exp. It would not be fair to the rest of the party, it helps procreate complacency and quite frankly I do not think it sends out a very constructive message.

I stand by my statement - had it been me, I would have booted them. Thank you for playing, I'll take my chances and wait for another healer.

I'd of dropped him, taken any other kind of mage, tried to have as much /nin jobs as possible so less damage is taken, and moved on. The reason shit is so shitty now-a-days at lvl 50+ is because fucking shitty players coast by on the tailcoats of the good players because a strong stand is never taken. Drop the bitch from the party and move on. I'd do the same thing at 75 with a refresher. I had a damn successful party with Cmdrfly, eleibfrid, scwall, hollie, hdflex and myself. I healed, Cmdrfly tanked as warrior, and everyone DD'd while Hd pulled. No refresher, no breaks (except for the y'know... 3x soulflayer wipe) but still. This is a prime example that any job can be replaced. We had a successful cannon party with 2 drg's, 1 rng, 1 thf, 1 war tank, and a whm. I've also kept a cannon party alive in garliage main healing as a blm while still bursting and all. Anything could work with competant players. A gimp whm is not a competant player. Drop and find someone else. Problem solved.

Btw, I'm 75 whm and I land enfeebles on mobs in Dynamis. My enfeebling is the same level as my healing magic.

Hell I've seen 75 WHM wearing a signal pearl and a tactics pearl for earrings. It's not all about MND, it's about MP too. Take pride in your class, seriously.

I am a "weekend player" so to speak. I have fun playing the game. I level slowly, quest slowly, and so on. But I like to have fun. Ive been playing for a good amount of time and I am not close to where I should be as far as game progression is concerned. But I can say this. My gear is almost perfect for my level and I know how to play my job.

I personally have several things to say about this topic

1. If someone has bad gear and can't do their job, just don't play with them.
2. If they have good gear but can't do their job, don't play with them.
3. If they have bad gear but do their job as well as they can. Play with them.

Long story short, Its up to you who you play with. But if a player is making an effort to play their job well, but don't have the time to farm up for the best stuff. Give them a break. They are just trying to play a game and have fun. Give them every courtesy you would expect from others. And if they are genuinly trying to be good. Help them. Camp a NM with them, tell them what they should get to make themselves better. Give them a stack of food to enhance their ability in a party. If we all stopped and helped the people who really want to play then we wouldn't have to complain as much about "noobs".

We were all noobs once. And the ones who try to be good deserve a little help and understanding.

True but the OP said that this person just attacked him for what he said, obviously sed player doesn't want help from anyone.

I'm just talking about people who want to progress and get better. If you can't take criticism ( depending on what the OP actually said to the player ) then you don't deserve help. But if the OP was rude to the person you can't blame the guy/girl for attacking them back.

Yea true i agree with helping players who are just starting out. Hell I've befriended a few players who went on to have like 6+75 jobs in such a short amounts of time from a few pointers I've given out along with others.

Also though I do agree about the statement that the reason there are so many noobs at lvl 70+ using lvl 50 gear putting up the wrong stats. Is because us as experianced to decent players arn't taking action and telling people there faults. Which they could either blow up and start a tantrum, or accept the critisism and learn from there (which hopefully is an earlier level.)

You never know how accomplished a player is going to be. I've noticed that sending a /tell to someone to offer a pointer is better then just Flaming them in party chat as well. Calling someone out in Party chat just makes them feel stupid in front of others and usually leads to anger as opposed to someone being receptive to a few constructive pointers.

The other day I was in a Party in the crawlers nest with a lvl 42 or 43 BLU (can't remember exactly) and he was not Chaining with himself. I know nothing about that subject myself other then that it would significantly help the party if he was doing it effectively. I sent him a /tell asking him why he wasn't doing it. He responded telling me he didn't know how. So I sent a tell to Hollie (75drg 75/rdm 50/blu) and asked him to tell this guy how to do it.

The guy caught on quickly and thanked myslef and Hollie for helping him. And my party went on to dominate the other 2 parties in the area with him blasting the hell out of the mobs we were exp'ing on. This is a good example of helping someone who could go on to be a very good player.

At the end of the day when he was doing a great job as BLU, hollie have him a pearl and we now have a new member of our LS who is becoming a very good player. Sometimes it just takes a little push in the right directing.

That being said, if I am ever in a party with any of you on QCDN and I'm not doing my job effectively, please send me a /tell and let me know what I can do to be better. DONT BE RUDE>> It's usually the way someone says something that makes people angry not the subject matter.

First off, holy shit Hollie has those lvld already O.O lol he got a lot done in 6 months :)

Second, I guess your right about giving people tips in /tells because of the privacy, but if on certain occasions some players still blow up at you and call you a bad player ect then I do believe that flamming would be the right thing.

Also a whm with gear has more mp and stronger cures which means less downtime.

Absolutely. The more MP thing is especially critical unless they're a Taru. You can get a full NQ Seer's set from the Jeuno AH for less than 40K. If you don't have 40k, work on getting gilz instead of handicapping a party.

The part that bothers me most is that the WHM said MND isn't important for WHM. If you are going to level a job, understand what your modifiers are and what stats you need to focus on, even if you are only levelling said job as a sub. You hurt yourself and anyone who xp's with you if you have no clue about your job. By level 30 even, there really isn't an excuse for that type of ignorance.

True but the OP said that this person just attacked him for what he said, obviously sed player doesn't want help from anyone.

That depends on how the OP offered assistance. Hopefully, it was done tactfully and via /tell. It is natural for most people to lash out when they are embarrassed, especially publically.
