"Whm don't need gear" >Nirrti

I always party naked up untill 10 or 15. Depends on how long I solo.

Bast then I always use gear though. I can usually spend upwards a few million just taking a job to 37 ~.~
 
Wow, I remember the days when I wouldn't party until I had the best gear. At level 60whm, I stopped altogether because I wanted more MP than HP.

The party knew i was playing both characters and was tired of your crying.
Leveling whm with a decked out whm the lowbie doesnt need gear I was tanking most of the time. If you dont like having a PL next time why dont you leave!

Nirrti wasnt naked either was in ok gear not the best by far but wasnt nowhere near naked. Had +8 MND +5INT 25% spell interuption down thats just off the top of my head.

OK, I must try this. I'm going to go to a merit party with no gear and use this excuse and see how far I get. I'll report back afterwords.

Fixed~

Even if you have some second account or friend PLing you, wearing such crap gear (actually, no gear) will do nothing more than make you look bad. I'm pretty sure you have WHM leveled to a decent level on your main, so I'd be forced to take a shot in the dark and guess you're PLing a friends character for them. In which I say: Don't do it. Let them figure it out themselves. The game doesn't need more 75WHMs in the game asking what things Erase cures.

The whole "oh it's just a sub-job" excuse is stupid. If you want to not wear gear, I'm sure you can form a static of people from your shell who will put up with you. Don't grace unsuspecting pick-ups with your gimpness.

You don't need fantastic gear, you just need to wear something that is acceptable for your job/level.
 
Wow. Got a new name to add to the pile. Pralien. Lv. 69 WHM wearing a Seer's Tunic, Bloodbead Amulet and Noble Slacks. Not a stitch of AF to be seen, because "I want 75, not AF."

He kept getting hate, too. Gee, if only there was some free gear WHMs could equip that reduces their enmity. I think I've seen it somewhere. It's red and white and rhymes with Martifact Jarmor.

The taru WHM who replaced him, Thos, already had a Noble's Tunic. He'd been farming like crazy to buy one as soon as he could equip it. Now that's someone who takes it seriously. As you can imagine, he did a better job.
 
Maybe he was using Seer's just when he healed? (I can't see the SS) because I used to use my seer's for the +1mp while healing and macro in/out gear.

But would it be terribly elitist of me to expect all 68WHMs to have done what this Thos character did? I mean... Noble's is hovering at around 1M! Back in my day it was a whole lot more.
 
Back in your day everything was a whole lot more, hence coming around 1 mil was easier. Everything is intertwined and relative in that sense. Hell, I'm 75 w/o a noble's. I haven't needed it and could care less about it. I have the money now for it actually, but I'm waiting on Dynamis money just incase I'm paying for my shell's next run. I'm just getting it to look pretty. What I really want is Relic +1 XD Just to say I have it.

Oh really? Well maybe this guy was also hoping to get a briault when he hits 75, so why waste all that gil on gear in the meantime, amirite?

That's what I assumed at first when I saw him wearing it (I carried my Seer's Tunic until I could use Errant body), but what you're seeing in that screenshot is what he was was wearing it the entire time he was in our party. When I asked him about it, he said he "didn't know how to get" his AF. That's when I started busting him for suckage and not taking the job seriously, because he could've looked it up, etc.
 
I hear yah Hali. I mean, I don't ever expect a whm to have a Noble's. For 600k, maybe less now, you can equip yourself with an entire Blessed set. That's the route I went. If I can continue to tolerate the boredom in parties that is a mild amount of cures and buffs... Well, maybe I'll put more time into whm. For now, I'm working on making it a melee/solo job XD
