"Whm don't need gear" >Nirrti

I felt/feel the same about the stigma of "you must have a Haubergeon to be a melee (read:DRK) of worth". 'Way back when' Hauby's were much more expensive, I bought the Sipahi chest and hands for 1/4 the cost of a Hauby. I've been pleased, and I'll out-crit and out-WS hauby-equipped WARs, and occasionally SAMs. I saved up and bought a Hauberk for 69, primarily because I'm closer to it now, I don't want the extra evasion- from a Haubergeon, and dammit; I like the way the Hauberk looks, and it's cheaper!

I do fine with my white frilly gear on my Dark Knight :-D

Oh really? Well maybe this guy was also hoping to get a briault when he hits 75, so why waste all that gil on gear in the meantime, amirite?

Hate to break the news to you, Mr. I quit so now I believe I'm better than everyone in the fuckin world at the easiest job in this game, but Noble's is unnecessary in a normal party. Period. I have close to 1000 MP and never go below 500. Without a noble's I was able to manage healing and MP in a party with 5 melee. Screw lolrefresh. Noble's is just a novelty of the endgame and elitist crowd. Since I'm in a Dynamis shell, and it is helpful to the shell for me to have one, I'm getting one soon. Do I really want it? Not really, with exception to the status/look of it. Other than that, for parties Relic is better anyway. You use light staff anyway, it gives you refresh, and Regen 3 will be stronger by 3 HP per tick. Either way, Noble's just isn't that necessary. Especially with the Martyr and Devotion meritted job abilities, but that leads to a whole new conversation.

Being a 75WHM, I can clearly and confidently say, that this thread only needs the following:

/facepalm

Noble's vs. Cleric's.... I saw this coming and prepared a visual presentation:

I see what you did there, but he's not even touching it!

Hehe, I <3 you Kotsu but Relic only supercedes Noble's as a regen macro cast.

The Cure potency shoved in with the light staff and noble's combined makes a big difference in MP conservation and regardless of how much you're left with, you said 500 left?

You can never be too careful for those emergencies, extra MP is the difference between saving a party, having enough to recast RR3 if it drops suddenly and continue to maintain the party at hand.

Merited abilities don't belong in the conversation, due to the hefty recast price alone.

I agree with the fact that Noble's can be a novelty item in the sense you're either taking the job to 75 to have a 75, or because you want the stats the blessed offers for out of merit situations. It carries a fairly hefty price tag of 1m, lord knows I can't afford it... However it's a staple piece that just makes life easier for an already talented WHM. <33

If you don't feel you need it and can do your job well, just take the prods you're gonna get from everyone expecting a Noble's lol. If you're doing fine without it and find Noble's to be impractical for your intended goal? Screw it, but I wouldn't go defending relic as anything better than a regen macro piece, or a poor man's self-refresh option for a WHM. That cure potency is the bread and most of the butter of that Noble's...

As far as WHM status piece goes, Noble's is not it.
Aristocrat's yespls!

Also El isn't sayin' his shit don't stink or tryina say that he's better than anyone else, but it is more commonplace and alot more conceivable for a WHM to have a Noble's in reach than they used to...

As for the easiest job in the game? It's not WHM.

Go find a DD job where you auto-attack and WS occasionally and any of those could be labeled the easiest.

You may not be doing the best job, but you're still doing what a DD is supposed to do by standing there on auto attack. WSing, using JA's wisely are what make the better DD's shine and show they're not just twiddling their thumbs. WHM's actually have to Cure once in a while yanno? So it's more than a stand-and-whiff job.

Ilu Kotsu. :P

I'm buzzed and goin' to bed.

Pls forgive if I'm jumping back and forth and kinda being confusing, I'm kinda confused myself.

Where's Kage when I'm drunk and confused about how the world turns? >_<;

/em locks his chastity belt and stumbles off to bed...

I should point out that I don't expect a WHM to have a Noble's Tunic before 75. I'm just saying that seeing Thos went through the trouble of getting one as soon as he could equip it is a strong indicator that he takes the role seriously, an attitude that was reflected in his performance. He was a very capable healer.

Pralien, the other WHM in the party, was wearing gimptastic crap and had empty slots to boot. His performance was also shoddy. How many fights against imps does it take before you realize Deafening Tantra should be followed by a quick Silena on the tank and then down the line to the rest? He had to be told to cast it. I also had to give him my stack of Echo Drops because he didn't have any on him.

I wasn't the leader of the party and couldn't kick him myself, but I came dangerously close to chasing him off by attacking his gear and attitude and declaring any curebot could get to 75, but it doesn't mean he's serious.

I don't expect a Noble's Tunic, but I do expect Healer's gear. There's no excuse not to have it.

[Commence beating of dead horse] Noble's and Cleric's are not interchangeable, they merely complement one another. Auto-Refresh is nice and all, but what really draws the eye in terms of MP efficiency are the Regen and Cure potency bonuses. Why have one, when you can have both?

The glaring difference between the two (apart from level - 68 and 74) is that one requires you to already have a 68-70+ job with not only Northlands access, but in tiered-based Dynamis shells, permission to lot - whilst the other requires 1M.

If you've hit 68 Tunic-less but are making some sort of effort to save the gil in order to acquire one, that's understandable. However, If you think Noble's Tunic is not worth it and are holding out for a dynamis piece which you may get in the distant future as opposed to concentrating yourself on something which you can realistically attain in a much shorter time frame - then fantastic, I wish you and your Blessed Briault the very best of luck. I don't particularly care, I'm just more partial to those who go the extra mile.

I will point out that you are mistaken in stating that Cleric's Briault is "better in parties" or that Noble's is "just a novelty".

Oh, and my shit do stink.

What is the amount added to bar spells from Blessed? Seriously is it far fetched to ask that a whm have nobles and have blessed for bar-spells on things like mini-gods/kirin? If it's a negligible amount (lets go with 5 as I don't know) then forget keep rockin that noble's.

Just an honest question that I don't know.

It doesn't add to the elemental resistance or more whm's would use it. I forget if it adds either a magic defense effect or just enhances the effect of the bar-status effect spells.

Some page says: Increases the effect of elemental resistance spells. Guess I'll check FFwiki.

Gah gay ass no edit button it give magic defense +5. So it's not completely negligible, but not worth the price if you don't have one.

NO EDIT FOR YOU!

Wow. Got a new name to add to the pile. Pralien. Lv. 69 WHM wearing a Seer's Tunic, Bloodbead Amulet and Noble Slacks. Not a stitch of AF to be seen, because "I want 75, not AF."

Jesus-tapdancing-Christ.

I kept seer's on me for healing MP gear until I got nobles.

Meh... my first job to 75 is whm and i was Af-less till 70+ since i could not get any helps back then. >_>

I guess that is the same reason i have been refusing to use my WHM unless it is necessary...

Has anyone noticed that Cure Potency does cap out? It's not like it's 20%. It's more like 15%; and for 5% difference it's very miniscule. That's 35 HP for every 700 HP cured. I could get that 35 HP with mind macro'd gear, put on clerics and use Regen to get more than the 35 HP, and rest while regen is curing him. A Whm can make the job look easy without Noble's, by far. As far as the obtainment of the Relic, I can agree with that. Of course, how many people enjoy playing whm as a main job? I do, sometimes. Of course, I'm getting burnt out of the bullshit that comes with it.
