You're proposing that you're going to BLINK TANK something while CURING to keep hate. Think about that a while. BLINK tank CURING to keep hate.

Paladin works because they get hit and they cure themselves. Ninja works because they don't get hit and they taunt the mob while slamming it with katanas. That's pretty simple. We can do simple. Thieves don't tank because while they can avoid hits, they can't do anything to keep hate. Drks don't tank because while they can manage to gain hate without ever even damaging something OR curing anyone, they can't last four hits.

This just won't work, I'm sorry. No matter how much you boost a white mage, EM is a whm/nin's limit, and that is being gracious to the idea of a whm being a party tank. Anything else will rip your shadows down and take you to the cleaners. Interrupt spell. Interrupt spell. Interrupt spell. Knock you out cold.

hey im just showing its out of the question. but if you review the video its not just any run of the mill whm you need to be compleatly geared for tanking with prolly the best equips out there.
 
I've actually seen a whm/nin tank faust. The amount of -dmg taken gear avail to whm is quite high, as is haste gear. Too bad the OP has completely the wrong idea about everything that a whm/nin would do to tank, because in a few cases (NOT EXP) its a viable option.

Get rid of the fucking dual wands, using blink, cure V, and get yourself a person that actually knows somthing about whm and has the gil to get a hot -phy dmg setupm and its possible.

Cure V for hate...come on, seriously. I really hope you're whm isnt that high.

Anyone with nin sub can survive against Genbu. For him to keep hate the DDs had to hold back. Notice the wars using swords. Heck, a rdm has soloed genbu before. At best, this is only possible at 74+ with ni which I think is much later than the OP is wanting.
 
what you need to tank as a whm is lvl 75 stoneskin flash & uts ni. to keep hate you macro out any -enmity gear you have and cast cures on ppl with hate. you cannot half ass it gearwise. you will need rev mail ohat lvl 70 jse earring an earth staff if you need or two good clubs and anything that gives vit mp +enm and -dmg. i have heard from friends on other servers how they had a whm tank and how it worked very well but i cant conferm cuz well im not on those servers

i'm sure there is somthing up there controlling his autonomic functions (breathing, heartbeat, constant stupid) But it could just be a hamster and a switchboard.
 
I can't believe that anyone is actually taking this thread seriously. Alerith obviously posted this to get a rise out of people & you're all giving him exactly the reaction he wants.

I mean, seriously, are you that hard up for a melee that you'd actually consider this?

While it's true that /nin lets us solo a much broader range of things, trying to take it beyond that, into a a serious PT setting is ridiculous (& I'm not talking about things like spearheading a PT going after lower level NMs like Dark Spark.)


Stop giving him a reaction, stop feeding the troll. Alerith, I'm going to have a hard time taking anything you say seriously that you post in other forums. This has killed your credibility.
