WHM Tanks, it is possible

The only thing that I can tank (with still getting my ass beat) are DC bones and below, and that's only because Tongan couldn't keep hate even if he was dual wielding two clubs.
WHM can't keep hate anyway. Those crazy DDs can rip the hate off my PLD with some Weapon Skills, even after I Flash and Cover them.

Yes, a 75 WHM subbing nin and some pimped out gear can tank in CERTAIN situations, mainly when there is a lack of a real tank handy. Yes its possible, and yes a PLD or NIN with a 50th of the cost in gear will do it better. At 75 with Ni ANY job can tank in CERTAIN situations, let me say that again... ANY JOB. But this is an experience party we are talking about here.

Cure V for holding hate? The whole point of Cure V is it gives only as much or slightly less hate then Cure III, and at that level, as a SAM I generate more hate in a single melee atack. So if you are getting hate with Cure V you suck or your party sucks.

And the whole concept of a WHM holding hate while blink tanking with cure... I really like how Perigrine put it. Why do you think that PLDs do not sub NIN? Christ nothing would be able to take them down! What atacks they don't blink out of existance they suffer minimal DMG. Oh wait, they hit would do no damage. There aint enough Flash's in the world to counteract that loss of hate, they would need a party of THFs just to keep hate on em, overall a crappy pt.
 
What I dont get is, RDM have the same Cure potency as a WHM. And (forgive me if Im wrong) dont they start out with a little more MP? Sure they enfeeble as well and whatnot, but dont RDM make just as good, if not better healers than WHM? (Besides getting spells a little later)

Not that I really care. Im quite serious about this topic. And if you would read a little more, I gave a little ground and said WHM could be a secondary/backup tank.

I was never suggesting it would be the new "norm", I was just making a point that it is possible.

Its everyone else who turned it into a "Well it would suck this way or this way" thread.

No! whm has more mp, more healing skill, higher spells (cure V and raise III) and -na spells.
The only things rdm have on whm is better enfeebs, better mele skills, fast cast, refresh and convert. Oh and they can try and nuke

Yeah, it's the level 75 white mages, some of whom already have some of the gear others are going on about for tanking and they're still saying whm's tanking is a stupid idea. Whm really can't tank, because everyone else would have to hold back so much that they really wouldn't be killing the mob but maybe skilling up, so it wouldn't be anything over a DC. It's not practical to try to tank on white mage, there's too much against them to be able to ank anything. Again, if you want to tank, or be a backup tank, go to your mog house and change your job.

WHM/BRD solo DC? lolz yes and solo solo not with the 2 munchkins tagin along.

It is pretty silly for xp situations, but if its all you got to work with for some other dumb shit your doing go go whm tank :p

i said earth staff cuz if its lvled thats mp you get back every w/s and i also stated you could use good clubs in its place but again the whole thing is you have to have every single piece of gear were a pld can yank just as well with half that. in other words tank as a whm only if you have been 75 for the last year with all the uber gear you can get. again its possable but you would have to go so far out of your way idk if it will be worth it
