Amusing as it is, there is paradox there... the JOB exists to help other people but were they ONLY to help others thn they would be UNABLE to help others... they'd have no gil to become a proper whm. without equipment, you have no power and the thing i saw in in vanadiel is only those with power can help others. strength of arms, strength of mind, strength of craft skill but always a strength. Gil is the key to strength almost as much as courtesy is. also the player may be of a different mind than the jobs ideals.

I've duoed the orcs there with myself and a monk, at 69 and 70, and we had an easy time. I could solo them actually, and all of the other coffer mobs, but I do have leeway as smn.

For anyone with the levels coffers should not be too large of a pain other then drop time of key and finding coffer. For people who are on their first AF... well imo I think Temple of Ugalapah(sp?) is worst of them all. It's neigh impossible to find the coffer yourself alone, and who likes tonberries lol. But eldieme would def. be the second worse imo. (why does the damn coffer spawn 90% of the time on the bea. glacier side!! god when I was looking for it I missed it 4 times in a row becaue it spawned in the same place... finally camped that side and got it.)

I have done/helped with all 6 AF's for Sam Blm Whm Pld and Brd. I have also helped on many NM's/coffers for Rdm, smn, war, drg, thf, rng, and Nin, so I have some experience. I can say, from my experience, That eldieme is the worst key to camp, Monastic has the worst drop rate, and Temple of Ugg is THE WORST coffer. Sight aggro mobs all over the place, yet you have to drop invis to open gates and doors >.<

Reminded me of raiders of the lost arc, where Indy had to get out of that snake pit without aggro.

How else can a whm make real gil? other jobs can go out and solo, they can go out and farm effectively and easily, whm has no such option

I'm a Lv. 36 WHM and I farm very well. It takes longer, but I still do okay. Crawler silk, saruta cotton and beehive chips add up pretty quickly. And then there's the fishing. Oooooooh, the fishing.

wow... 100k for a key!? damn... whenever i help someone i refuse any reward they offer, unless they offer it again 2-3 more times.

also... i just wanted to say that if you cannot find another way to make gil as a whm, that is really really sad :( there are many things to farm, not just cockatrice meat, and most of them are far more worth your time (as in, you gain more gil per hour spent) then teleporting people. BCNM, crafting, hell even leveling a lowbie job to farm expensive crystals... there are so many options, if you are creative enough to look for them.

Lastly... teleporting more then one person at a time is so rude... people shout b/c they have somewhere to go; if it wasn't urgent they would have used some other method. sorry, it just really ticks me off when others join pt... espeacially if i was the first to be picked up but then we go to the other peoples place first... If you are going to do the tele-bus thing, please at least only pick up people who are going to the same location -.-

I never pick up people for multiple teleport locations...but as far as making someone wait..it goes both way. I've had people shout for a tele...invite them to party and get "just a sec...need to run to moghouse/ah/signet...etc.

As I stand there waiting 5 minutes for them while my "competitors" are porting away....lol Please don't ask for a tele until you're ready to go!

I said, or meant to say (not gonna re-read my post, monstrous thing that it is) that they can't do it AS well, i played whm to 37 as my first job, i actually farmed elementals in la thien... back then i had to buff up, rest up then go battle it really with a club, banish and my subjob... a blm at the same level can flatten an ele in about 12 seconds, a stunning 2 minutes or so faster.
suffice to say, it's not quite as easy to farm as with say rdm or thf... that's the point i'm putting across here.

Thanks Nas couldnt have put it any better without sounding mean myself :)

I agree people shouldnt shout unless they are ready to go, if your going to check the AH or change jobs do so THEN shout i mean duh o_O;

i KNEW something was up. lately, i've been /shouting for tele's to various places (mea, holla, or dem) and offering a 1k reward and i'd get an invite in like 5 secs. flat. so THIS is why they're so fast...because of the economy.

Ok A-MEN to both of these statements.

I never take two people at once to two different places from Jeuno. NEVER, unless asked. However, I will do it from places like Bastok and Windy if a person has shouted more than once for a seperate location, due to the fact that its usually harder for people to get tele's there than somewhere else. That is my only exception for making two stops.

The other day I needed a tele-dem (lvling my drg) and the whm invited a whole party, and dropped me off last. I only gave him 400 gil. He accepted but then later told me it was 500 next time. I politely replied that I was the last person to get dropped off (we had gone to all three telepoints before Dem) and with an entire party of people going to three different places I didn't think it was right to charge full price. I also let him know that I am a WHM also, and he said nothing more.

And people, I don't care where you are, but if you ask for a teleport, be ready to go. In Jeuno the chances are that people are farming your teles or taking you somewhere out of kindness, if you have to spend another 10 mins going through the AH or your MH DONT ASK FOR A TELEPORT. WAIT until you are finished. While I can understand someone starting to ask for tele's before they're ready to go in the towns due to teh lack of whm's that really hang out there, in Jeuno it is unacceptable. If I see you run from the AH to your MH and back, I'll disband you faster than you can say Rolanberry Pie.

One last thing. I know I'm ranting here but deal with me. If you send a /tell to a WHM asking you to teleport you, and the WHM says, "give me a second I am busy but can take you in 5 mins" PLEASE DONT SPEND THE NEXT 5 MINUTES SENDING /TELLS TO THE WHM ASKING THEM TO INVITE YOU. A n00b blm did this to me the other day, and made my blacklist by trying to argue with me about it afterwards. Feel bad about it? Nah. He was a lvl 28 BLM with level 12 armor and rank1.

pssh.

And Ansely, man, I have some harsh words for you about not having any sympathy for the WHM farmer.. "no one held a gun to your head and made you be that job"... those are fightin words, especially knowing how you need a whm in parties.. but I'm in a good mood today.

Agreed.

As far as farming, take up another job more suited...Go farm. Voila!

My point for teh sympathy is not for people who have played the game for awhile and can switch to another job to farm. I know very well that if I want to farm mobs I can level another job.

My point is for people who start out the game wanting to play WHM and end up getting the shaft. With very little knowledge of the game when you start playing, WHM's get screwed on leveling and earned income. When you get your teleport spells at 36, a whole new door opens to you. If you didn't start playing this game as a WHM, you'll never understand that. Believe it or not, people who don't spend a lot of time reading up about the game don't always get exposed to other ways of gil-making. Sometimes, though its hard to believe, some people don't play this game enough to want to go take the time to level another job.

I'm not complaining personally about gil-farming, I get by just fine thankyouverymuch, but my defense is for people who don't have 50 days under their belts and 6 different jobs leveled based on time. While there is no excuse for not having time to farm if you have time to level, there IMHO are excuses for not taking the time to level thf up to 15 and then go farm. There are plenty of reasons for WHM's to be frustrated with farming at lower levels - the teleporting is an answer to that. Thats all.

I can see what you mean by WHM"s getting the shaft as n00bs farming for gil, but ****they can get parties whenever they want in 2 seconds. THF"s though they have a farming advantage, usually have a tough time getting invites to parties.

Every job has it's own thing that they are great at, and that they suck at.

I just don't like when people say they don't have money, and they are missing spells, gear, etc.

STOP leveling. Go farm, tele-taxi, garden, whatever...

Handle your business, in any way possible, get your gear and spells, stop complaining and thinking other jobs have it easier, then go back to leveling.

Many people have poor priorities. Not teh Pannda though.

This is not fair.

I keep a pretty good handle on spells and gear, but do have weeks where the ONLY times I can get on are when I static (and when you have static's that want you to be exactly the same level as everyone in the party....it's not like you can be all "you guys go on without me while I farm)...or are on days when I have told someone I would help them, etc.

We can hold up static whenever. We can just communicate that.
We can use static time to go make money.
Maybe we have an understanding static in this way.
Personally, I'd rather go forward prepared, as a group...Or not go forward.

Edit: not making cracks on anyone when I say that.

Oh well I'm not contesting any of those points. There are ways for WHM's to make money at lower levels its just harder - but there is no excuse to be so behind in scrolls blah blah blah equipment blah when all you've been doing is leveling and then say I don't have time to farm.

I mean Jender I get your point, soemtimes you only have that time to play, but then like Sneaky said, it would probably be best to communicate with your static that you need to make some money because you are behind. I'm not coming down on people who are about 1-2 craptastic spells behind, or dont have the +5 mp armor instead of the +2 mp armor, but IMO not having haste at 45 because you dont have enough money is unacceptable because of how much this spell helps.

And yes every job has its ups and downs, but we're not discussing how hard it is for a thf to get a party, we're talking about how hard it is for a low level whm to make gil XD

/dances all over this thread

I agree with this - I mean, when there are spells like Dispel and Refresh, you obviously need them right away...but as amage who never gets hit - having the most up to date armor available isn't always the most important thing, in this case I would probably do AFquests instead of farming and whatnot (NO I AM NOT A LVL 50 WITH LEVEL 30 GEAR >< I HAVE NICE ARMOR, I am just saying I think to have FUN people need to cut others some slack sometimes)

I should add that I am not trying to be one sided here, although I have only provided a flipside for discussion...

I do see all your points as relevant to be certain.

Just take into consideration, my point of whiners, as I spam ninjitsu and bolts, and don't complain. That's my beef with this. Just the whining. No need for it. If you whine, you're a whiner. I'll even get some cheese for you.

<---Is always willing to help in any way.

Edit: directed to everyone

Statics are an ENTIRELY different story. They usually level hard and fast, and are more understanding when you are missing something because they know they are pushing you. Where I can see SP coming from is people that aren't in statics and level via p/u parties and are missing things. THAT is where his point is MOST valid.
