If you think about it though Democrats are nothing but the US socialist party. They all basically want the same thing, more social programs. I debated a guy about this in my mircoeconomics class for a half hour before class started that socialist programs aren't they way the forefathers ever wanted the nation to be ran. The democratic party wants to take away freedoms to help the little man by giving them government aid with out hardly watching them to see if they have a job that can provide insurance and money.

I told him if he wanted more social programs to help the poor to move to France or any other socialist country socialism isn't how the American govt is suppose to be ran.

Preaching to the choir over here. 'Democrat' has equaled 'Socialist' in my book for a long time now.

Oh, and lolHillary.

Yay for out of context quotes! I honestly don't know the context since I haven't been keeping up in politics, but I'm going to assume that they were a way of trying to skirt around the issue of raising taxes (or at least stop cutting them), or cutting expensive programs, in an effort to bring down the national deficit.

Deficits mean future tax increases, pure and simple. Deficit spending should be viewed as a tax on future generations, and politicians who create deficits should be exposed as tax hikers.
This is a quote by Ron Paul, which I agree with. Unless you can give the full surrounding circumstances around those quotes by Hilary, I'm gonna assume they have the same goals (not necessarily the same way of reaching said goal.)

I don't care too much for politics to be honest, but I hate to see such posts which can easily make people think the wrong idea. Now if the context was in a way that she truly seems to be supporting communism, I take it all back of course, but as it stands, something just irks me about the way the first post was set up.

----- adding on to above ---

I decided to google the quotes to let other people read more about them:

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you," Sen. Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."
Is one for an example. You can read more about the above quiz here

P.S. I don't support Hillary (or anyone) like I said I'm not keeping on stuff

I never have considered my self a Republican or a Democrat persay... If the Democrats had a canadite that supported my values and idea's i would vote for him/her , And same goes for the Republican side as well.

In the past I have suported the republican ticket due to them sharing more common ideas. But It definatly seems to me that While even if the republicans dont have any "Mindblowingly good* canadites running this term. I cant see why people would be willing to support the socialist ideals of the current democratic canadites.. Unless they are the die-hard democratic type that woud vote for some one like Hitler/Satan in 08 just because their grandparents democrat and their parents where democrate. ANd dont put any thoughts in to why they vote the way they vote.

But then agian im not really that thrilled about the Republican Canadites either.

All im saying is If you vote... dont make your decision on "Well My parents voted Democrat or republican, So im just gonna copy them without thinking about why im Voting the way I'm Voting"

Research the canadites Find out thier political stands on difrent issues and make your own decision

If she's the nominee, she'll get my vote. If nothing else, I'd rather have her picking the next batch of replacement Supreme Court justices.

My dad is a republican and my mom is an idio... a democrat. I am in all honesty neither... I have strong Anarchocapitalist beliefs and for the most part consider myself to be a libertarian making me a republican by default.

I will admit that the quiz is biased... like everything in this world. If you are dumb enough to take something in a context that it is given and not see what led to the quote then you ... sadly deserve to be taken. I think a quote from poker sums up how i feel on this...

"It's immoral to let a sucker keep his money." - Canada Bill Jones

Personally i feel that the Republican party has turned to fascism and the democratic party has turned to communism so... were fucked either way (thank you 2 party system). Least with the republican party they state that they will try to minimize the size of government even though they do not.

Heh. I'd rather go with the guy who lets me know he's full of shit instead of trying to hide it.

I can't really view the Republicans as the "default" for Libertarians, though. They're just as obsessed with dictating how you can live your life as the Democrats, especially when it comes to sexual, reproductive and privacy issues.

Well considering I've taken one economics class from highschool, and one intro course in college on economics, It's my understanding is that if

a) there's a huge deficit
b) there's an ongoing war

then cutting taxes is surely not a good idea, in fact if anything raising them is what's required. I don't know a lot about economics, and I realize that my idea on taxes may be wrong, but I do consider myself at least at the "high school" level you described.

Ok i am going to agree with you and disagree with you on this one.

A and B are both correct. Hence my support of Ron Paul.

The problem that i have is that the democratic party only talk about how they want to spend money... They don't say a word about how to save money and therefore we will never cut back on the deficit unless they raise taxes. If you raise taxes you will take more money out of the pockets of everyone and after wasting a lot of it redistribute it through overly bureaucratic programs. This will also further the transfer of businesses to other countries where they can cut their overhead which will make the government have less money and have to raise taxes again.

The key to balancing a budget is not to take in more money but to spend less. With lower taxes and regulations business will come or stay which will put more money in peoples pockets and allow for them to keep the budget balanced and for people to afford the things that they need like health insurance.

It is really Darwinism at its best. If the US is not the best place for businesses, businesses will leave. If the system is going to give people basic things free like welfare and health insurance then there are definitely people who are not going to do little or nothing because they are getting what they need anyways. Socialism is much the same as communism because it is good in theory but people are naturally lazy and do as little as they have to. With a non welfare state people are forced to fend for themselves so that overall people are more productive and also growth of business is fostered so that people will actually have jobs to go to.

Isn't it odd that everyone complains about how the government treats the veterans through the VA but the same people are also pushing for the government to take over public health care. That like asking the guy that ran a bodega into the ground to run Wal-mart. It doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

Cutting taxes and expecting to do the same things that you are doing is an incompetent policy. But cutting taxes and fostering growth should be the long term goal of a government. I tend to look at the government like this.

If men are good, then they need no rulers. If men are bad, then governments of men, composed of men, will also be bad - and probably worse, due to the State's amplification of coercive power.

WHY? I've always liked you and repected your opinion, Halif, even though we do not always agree, so please explain to me your support for the biggest BS, free pudding cup and and longer recess candidate in the running. I mean seriously, if her last name wasn't "Clinton", would she even be getting a second look? I mean, I understand someone like Chasym falling in line for her, but why you?

Nothing special by way of explanation except that I'm a Democrat, so the odds of my voting for a Republican presidential candidate are somewhere between zilch, nada and zero. Like I said, I'll vote for her if she's my party's candidate.

In all honestly, out of every post in this thread, that one part stuck out to me the most. If I go vote, it's now going to be for this broad.

I'm not exactly for all the socialist reforms, that's the main reason I'm not overly interested in the elections right now. I realize massive social reform is just as bad for the economy, but so are most republican's positions, so in effect, there's no way to "win".

My post was basically meant to counterpoint republican view points, not support democratic (sorry if I made it seem otherwise). I do lean more towards the democratic side, the only republican that seems to have good ideas is Ron Paul, but he's certainly not going to win. Even then he has a few ideas that I've heard about that I feel iffy to completely uncomfortable with, but on the bright side I'm 99% sure congress would never let those ones pass if he became president.

I do agree with some governmental "care taking", as I'd rather not live in the world's richest nation with some people dying in the street because of lack of housing/food, whatever their reasons for being homeless are (even addicts shouldn't starve to death on a sidewalk in my opinion). On the flipside roughly 90% of the preventions for this stuff are already in place. Minor tweaking is what's needed, not massive reform.

Personally I think the best thing to do is "undo" many of the tax cuts from the Bush administrations (not exactly raising taxes, just going back a few steps), and then cut spending where it's stupid (Hey guys, lets spend billions on ways to prevent terrorism that wouldn't of worked on Oklahoma City or 9/11 anyways!)

Aside from just economy though, I seem to agree with most democratic positions (well, agree when given the choice between that and republican opinions). After all if economy was all that mattered I'd find a billionaire and make him/her president.

And here's my standard "I'm no expert on economy and politics" disclaimer. And the "Correctness" of this post isn't guaranteed =P
