I'm elvaan RDM, and I've never had MP problems. Last night for example, partying in Onzozo. I was Refreshing 4 1/2 people (myself, PLD, WHM, BLM, and DRK every other round), Hasting 3 people (because the WHM didn't seem interested in keeping Haste up regularly), Dia 2, Paralyze, Slow, Gravity on the mob (I leave Poison 2 and Blind to my BLM hubby who doesn't want his enfeeble to fall too far behind, heh), throwing an occasional Drain or nuke to skillup (no MB, because we were having a "coddle the melees" night and letting the DRK and WAR use Guillotine and Rampage, lol). Add onto this the fact that we had a maniac puller who would occasionally only let us get one tick of rest inbetween pulls if we were lucky, and you're looking at a lot of MP expenditure with little to no recovery, heh.
Through all this, I still managed to keep my MP enough to get consistent chain 4's, and occasional chain 5's. Chain 5's were actually limited not by my MP, but by available pops in the time limit, since we were competing with another group for pulls, heh. I'd occasionally have to convert right around Chain 3, but that's why RDM's have that ability.
Now mind you, I have good gear, and most of my gear is set for MP+. RSE2 boots and gloves, Electrum rings. BLM sub for Conserve MP. Factor all that in, though, I still don't have the MP pool a Taru has, which makes me think that Taru have a lot of extra MP to waste on unnecessary tasks, lol.
I know in another thread someone made a post about static people being "removed" from realistic XP experiences in the game, and therefore being poorer players. The opposite is also sometimes true though- the good players seek out statics cause they're tired of crappy pickups. Therefore, sometimes the best players are never seen in the normal XP circuits to be critiqued by outsiders. I wonder how many more of us elvaan RDM's who actually care about playing our job the right way are like me, and never get seen performing outside of static, heh.
