Alright, here's my story of being gullible and trying to help people I shouldn't.

I was sitting in Lower Jeuno 2 nights ago, seeking so I can get 70 or skillup my sword for Maat. I see a shout for skillup/keys @ Necropolis. It was from a rdm naemd Kolid. I have heard alot of bad things from friends and LS members about him, but thought, hey, I'll give him a chance. So he invites me and our group heads to Necro. We get there and either the low lvl rdm or pld gets aggro and pulls 8-10 mobs into a room. All these mobs were TW for me, so I lullaby them all as we slowly kill them, waiting for backup to arrive. We for some reason, someone uses an AoE attack right after I lullaby everything...making me a target. Kolid was just sitting there, not killing or curing anyone, so I die before our other brd and rdm show up. I was a little upset, but brushed it off and should no animosity of being even farther from 70 (I'm @30k >.<).

After the catastrophe, we head to the coffer mob area. We kill for about 20-30 minutes where we get a key and the pld wins the drop. Then Kolid says he has to go and will sit afk near zone. We were like you can't riush coffer drops, but said ok and will let him get 1 drop. We continue and get 2 more keys for people needing them. Well....we weren't sure if Kolid even had inv space, but let him get the last key and then dissolved the alliance. We then head out to zone to meet some of my friends for more skillups/keys. Well, our low lvl pld gets aggro and I lullaby them and we run to zone, and run by Kolid. Now, I know the mobs that I slept didn't get to Kolid before we zoned since I zoned back in and he was still healing there. We go back to more fighting, etc.

Fast forward to this morning. By a very reliable friend (RL friend for 8 yrs) informed me this moron was shouting the morning before about our pt MPKing him. After I went to help after hearing a bunch of shit about him, getting him his fucking key when he was afk 3+ hrs, then accusing us of MPK cuz he was stupid enough to go afk @52 in necropolis? And I could of just gone to Kuftal and got better skillups, but no, I have to be the nice guy and try to help. Well I have learned to not e such a nice guy since this cost me 3k+ exp and could of had more skillups, etc. Maybe I need to stop being a ncie guy and find a better pc connection since I keep DCing in pts >.<

To some it up, we didn't MPK this asshole Kolid and he needs to just shut up! I thank you for your time. 8)

Why does the name Kolid ring a rusty bell for me?

Anyways...think the quote goes something along the line of "If you do something right, people won't be sure you did anything at all"...
...Or something like that.

Personally, if someone AFKed for that long, I wouldn't have gotten them a key at all. You were asked to help, not hired to let them leech.

X im sorry this happen to you and hope this dont stop you from helping others. It is sad thing when people act that way, and the name kolid ring a bell (thinks where has i heard that name before). Necropolis is a dangerous place and many wont venture down there (remember a real real bad experance in that place.) i have to use my finger and toes to count the amount of deaths ive had down there.

ps good luck on maat

Personally X, you didnt do anything wrong. What dumbass goes AFK in a area with mobs that you know will aggro you and arent in a controlled spot? That's like saying: "Hey Mr. Lich, I'm on the brink of death, I'm healing with no possible change of defeating so just attack me if you wish" That's just his dumbass. I can solo those mobs as my BLM but one thing I ask is that the person I'm helping is for them to not go AFK espcially if I need to escape or zone something. The persons helping you are not gonna be held responsible cause you didnt wanna help out with the fighting and you "chose" to go AFK knowing if there is gonna be some trouble the only options you have to save yourself are: Warp, Teleport-???, or Escape or in X's case: Horde Lullaby >> RUN LIKE HELL! XD. It seems this guy lacks common sense to me. >_>;

Well, I just don't want to get a bad rep for accusations for MPK, expecially from a moron like him. And him being an asshat about this would never stop me from helping :D I have too much fun killing as my Robobard 8)

On the other hand, if a person is already infamous for being a jerk to your friends and LS members, by helping him achieve his goals you simply show that even with a bad reputation he can still get things done easily and should continue to be a jerk.

I read the beginning of the flame, "...I have heard alot of bad things..." the fact is you knew about this guy already and decided to ignore warnings. Not to say you're a bad person, and that helping is wrong, but it appears to me this is a case of bad common sense.

A useful real world example, "I heard about Michael Jackson with that child years ago, but I wanted to give him a chance so I let my kids stay at nevernever-land ranch."
"I knew Stalin was a bad leader in the past, but I voted for him to give him a chance."
ext, ext

A very good point. Mainly the concern from friends and LS was he was a bad player, not so much a bad person. I was really there to help a nice brd I had met for a lower job coffer and a nice low lvl pld since I know that place can be a pain. If 4/5 people in a skillup/key party are ok, I didn't see much problem since I could lullaby and warp if needed if problems arose. I never had any idea something like this could come out of this. Well, you live and you learn, and the you get Luvs ;)

i dont understand why you got him a key...i mean wth? First he gets you killed and then he goes AFK for 3 HOURS before you find a key for him...i would guess you could have spent at least an hour lvling instead...

Anyway my point is a) you're too nice b) he is an idiot. That sums it up a believe.

Kolid once /shouted and accused me of selling gil because I knew the price of gluttony swords... wtf is this guys problem? I still don't like him even though I haven't seen him in forever. Also, I agree with Firestreak.

No but people = people. Bad reputations don't simply pop up for no reason, it's because someone has a history of doing bad things.

As the expression goes, trick me once, shame on you, trick me twice, shame on me.

And add in the fact, more people in game have the capacity to be worse than people in real life cause they don't fear being punched in the face.

While firestreaks examples were a little extreme i think he is correct...if everyone "Gives someone another chance" then they will keep getting further and further in the game...

Although that said you should not believe everything you hear as i have pted with people i have just finished reading flames about and they have been fine (usually a little weird but fine).

I guess the best idea is to do a search on the flameboard and if they have under 3 flames about them give them a chance :P

The way I see it, everyone gets 1 chance within reason. This person didn't kill or con anyone I knew. If they suck at there job, good for them. Maybe I can teach them some things. I even gave Colbwa a chance (one chance and he blew it). Maybe I should stop that and be smart about who I help, etc. Sorry for complaining and not using common sense. And thank you for your time.

There's nothing wrong with giving people a first chance. Fire mentioned fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me... well He fooled you once, just don't let him do it again. (Which obviously you won't because you posted here).

I don't mean to step on your toes, Fire, because I know we've had it out in the past before =/ and I appologized, but I do have something to comment about this.

The way I see it, everyone deserves at least 1 chance, reguardless of what ppl say. There are about 5 people in this game who have a problem with me as opposed to the majority of people that like me. Say someone who doesn't like me tells their ls I'm a bad person and to stay away from me =/ hey, I've just lost a lot of potential friends. You can accept the warning and proceed with caution, but there's no need to hate someone off the bat for something a friend says. If you want to know what someone is like, you meet them.

I know that isn't the case here, but just a note: everyone deserves at least 1 chance. Call me gullible if you'd like - I don't mean to irritate anyone by making this post. Good luck in game "^^"; I appologize if it is slightly off topic.

Cere, it wasn't off topic and I feel the same way (as you notice from prior post). Also <3 Futurama!!! I just wish this guy would come online so I can confront him about this....it died out pretty fast (thank god, though I love drama as our server is full of it ;)
