Why don't people take constructive critcism??

The whole reason I quit WHM is cause when I get a god awful PT on a lower lvl job I can be out of their fast compared to it wasting hours of my life with PLDs who do not know what food, defender, sentinel, sheild bash, or cover is.

"Shield Bash" is a weapon skill... silly! Everyone knows that!

When you MB with Ancient Magic, the BLM does indeed start the skillchain, because the cast time on those is SO LONG that he actually has to start casting a good 4-5 seconds before the skillchain starts, lol. I haven't played BLM to those levels personally, but my husband has, so I have more of an insiders view than most.

TP calls are essential for him. They help me as RDM too, because I'll change up my Haste order depending on whose TP is higher, in order to get both melees to full TP faster. Whem he gets a full TP call, he then decides, based on how much life the mob has left, whether to do an AM burst or a standard 3 spell burst. If the mob has enough life to make the AM burst worthwhile, he'll start his AM macro, which is something like:

/ma "Freeze" <t>
/p Casting Freeze
/wait 5
/p Ready to start skillchain!

If it doesn't have enough life (generally less than half life left, heh), he'll just say "Go skillchain" and throw a Water 3 at the end.

Either way, he absolutely needs those TP calls to be prepared to cast for the burst. At the lower levels, you can oftentimes throw a level 1 spell at the last second and still connect, but once you get into the level 3 spells, you have to actually start casting just before the 2nd weapon skill in the chain is firing to land the burst. If you were doing something else because you didn't know people had full TP, then you're pretty much screwed.

Yea I probaly should have grouped it seperate... It woulda been nice if he helped stun that Torama as well

The problem with constructive criticism is its just that, criticism. People take offense, recently alot more so, to someone telling them how to play their job. In my experience, the only way to do this is to be friendly at first and then give advice, but never mention what they did as wrong or inferior.

I totally agree with DarkDante; however, giving advice also has a limit. If the player was extremely bad and needs a complete change to improve its very difficult. Telling someone too much will makes you seem condescending to a newer or less experienced player and immediately evokes a bad response. You have to make that person feel comfortable before you dish out that unwanted advice unless they really want that advice.

Also, I know this is kind of off topic but still pertains to giving advice. The dunes is a very important "training ground" for most players where they first introduced to partying on their new job. This is where most people SHOULD learn to party long before they ever hit qufim or kazham. This is where people should be advised on how to play and I find that alot of new players are immediately turned off by more "experienced" players for this very reason.
1) I for one think everyone should stop calling any in the dunes a noob(unless you are a higher level walking by acting like a noob) because you are in the same position they are: Playing a new job for the first time. More than likely they know just as much as you about their job as you do about yours.
2) If you are willing to give advice maybe you should also be willing to take some.
3) Don't act all superior just because you have a level 75. At the moment you are level 10 and that goblin kills you just the same as the level 11 with no subjob.
4) Bring food or ever offer to help get subjob items. I find that when I party especially with newer players and I hand out a bunch of kabobs to them, they like me alot more and exp gets a little better. Now that they trust me I can give some advice.
5) Explain things to new players and don't get pissed because they don't know. Someone had to tell you one day and now its your turn to do the same.
6) People should help new players with party basics including, but not limited to Skillchains, Magic Bursts, tanking, curing and macros before they ever leave Valkurm. Once they have left the dunes its alot harder to instill basics especially when they have a previous notion of how things work.

I know there is alot more but at the moment this is all I could think up.

Please read the thread I started.

Constructive criticism is very good. Sometimes, you just need to be torn down to build yourself back up.

Another thing I might add is that even though you give constructive critisism that doesn't mean that the person will listen to you. This is why they say to "give" contructive critisism and not "dish it out". The person has his/her right to deny your criticism as much as he/she wishes, this is thier right and you simply have no say how they take it. Thats simply how teamwork works.

everyones macro should announce they are doing a weapon skill, takes a few seconds for it to happen, then the second person starts 3 seconds later, i think that is enough for anyone to get their MB together, thats a solid 5 seconds from start till you need to start your spell.

Uhh not really. Say you have a party where the melee take forever to get TP, the BLM having nothing to do decides to start casting a spell. I mean they are suppose to cast more nukes than one MB every battle. Mid cast the DRK uses Guillotine, even if u stop your spell the odds of being able to recover to make the MB work aren't as good. Especially at higher lvls, melee fail to realize this but Thunder IV takes a lot longer to cast than Thunder II.
