HOLY CRAP THIS GAME IS CORRUPT!!!!!!! seriously it is making me think of going back to WoW because A: I dont wana spend hours upon hours farming B: i need to kill something... I JUST SPENT 40k on gausbit grass, boots, sword shield and like 4 spells... o yea and a silver hair pin... FUCKING A GIL SELLERS my god ive been back 2 weeks, made about twice as what i made when i first started a year ago and have spent at least 3 X as much as i have ever had to spend... i realize 40k is nothing ot higher levels.. but im mad because no less than six months ago the shit in the AH was freeking dirt cheap compared to the current prices, so im now seriously thinking of returning to World of Warcraft.... stupid gil sellers ruin all my fun :(

heh... its not just the gilsellers...

Sure, gilsellers set the price of stuff.... But the remaining players just follow it and heck, even jack it up a few if they got the chance.

The only difference between the gilsellers and all other players, are that gilsellers sell their gil, while the others dont.

lol

ahh no, if i go back its for good i just realized every time u resign up your char for XI it cost an extra 12 bucks

It became apparent to me that the gillsellers arent the problem when the ban happend. Archer rings come to mind. They were a steady price and in steady supply. When the gillsellers left the price went up and the supply went down.

Its all economics and inflation regardless of whats going on with the gillsellers. Hell if you look now, look at the price of beehive chips and silk thread. They have went up in price also, EVERYTHING has went up in price.

ya but it still a BIG pain in the ass to fsit there and farm for several hours thats something i dont wana do ; ;

Yup...it's become part of the game. Look at the price of astrals... they made a bcnm to get them instead of getting them from a coffer in Castle Oz... price has gone from 130k to a million sometimes...

Beehive chips, silk thread..... everything is going up in price... except Fresh Majoram...

Farming, crafting, or getting some drops. You have options.
You either get a good drop or you try and take advantage of a sellers market of rparticular items.

Don't let it get to you. If you really don't like it, then you definitely shouldn't play.

I know I read this from another thread, and I'm sorry but I'm not going to look up who I saw say it first. But at any rate...

People farmed, sold items. People synth, sell items. Suddenly you add a whole new group of people, well they need items to play, so demand goes up, and thus prices. Since it then costs more to buy equipment you need, and synther's demands for materials goes up, raising the prices of farmed materials. Well, this adds a bit to push synthers to raise their prices again to keep up a profit.

End game, it's a vicious circle. What needs to happen now, is SE needs to raise drops back up. Not just because it'll stablize the economy of the game, but because there are going to be more plays all the time. Especially when they release FFXI for the X360. If you think prices are bad now, wait till the flood gates open on this.

In all, it is really annoying that gil sellers take the mobs we want so they can make money (and worse that they have no qualm about MPKing), but they do balance the economy out more. This is because they counter demand. They 'farm' items, putting more items on the market more often then other players. If they weren't around, prices would already have climbed well beyon the point of this game being playable by anyone, but those who have time to farm 3 weeks out of the month for one or two items, or maybe even food to pt with.

I've only been back 3 days, but im already thinking that i wont be staying around because of how stupid its become

Let's figure this out. If, say, six months ago beehive chips were 4k a stack and all that gear you bought would have cost 20k, you'd have to farm 5 stacks of beehive chips for your gear. Now say beehive chips are 8k a stack and your gear is now 40k. Now you have to farm.... 5 stacks of beehive chips.

Silk was 10k, you'd need 2 stacks of silk. Now silk is 20k, now you need 2 stacks of silk.

These are very simple examples, but it shows you the picture.

*sniff* I remember when everything was cheaper... but its true, players just go along with set price. I mean, you wouldnt farm something and then set it for half ah price (although you would probably get all or most of the set price anyway) so it helps and hurts everybody. You can get an item thats worth twice what it was, yay, cash. But then you will have to use it to buy gear thats twice as expensive as it was also.

Even if you do start selling stuff at half the AH price, you either:

1) Get yelled at for screwing up the economy... which is already screwed up.
2) Are called a gil buyer because you don't care about money
3) Don't do anything because there's some person waiting at the AH looking to buy stuff at cheap prices and flip it at the normal price.

Buying stuff on the other hand...... you have to almost wait a long time for that cheap price to be put on your item BY one of the rare above people....

BTW, the calculation of you still have to farm only five stacks of chips/thread is somewhat true. But now, you have more competition for the items, have to worry about a higher AH price.

You don't see the amount of money in chests/coffers/NPCs give for stuff/ or beastman mobs rise...so you're a slave to the market if you want anything done.

More money for those would probably cause more inflation.

But on a more serious note:

Down with capitalist pigs! REVOLUTION!!!!!!

If SE doesn't increase drop rates *gasp* RARE equip might actually be rare. Leaping boots will actually not be the thing 99.9% of melee use up to level 30+ or in thf/rng case up to AF. Man what a shame it will be to not see everyone and their brother wearing a Emp pin, or a pair of Astrals on every Taru. People are so damn snobby that they REQUIRE it of everyone to have all this high end equip that really isn't necessary and doesn't change the quality of the player using them. I have yet to bring my THF past 15 yet, or a mage job above 10. That's because I cannot afford the items that everyone NEEDs you to have or else you will gimp THEIR exp. I think the problem with this game is not the economy, it's the level of standards we put on everyone who just wants to play the game, and not hafta farm for 3 months before leveling a job they might want to play. Also, if SE increased drops of gil from mobs, that would be great. I had an idea that I sent into them a LONG time ago saying that the number of pops/drops of NMs is a ratio based on the number of people in the zone at that time. So if theres 100 people in South Gusta, when there should only be about 30, the pop time for LL drops and her rate increases. This would make everyone happy because everyone would have their precious Leaping boots, and it would piss off all the people who had to combat sellers/pro campers to get theirs. In the end the ONLY thing to fix this economy is to start a server from scratch, and make many NM drops Rare/Ex so that once you have it, you're stuck with it, and you can't sell it to people at an extreme fee.

You haven't changed a bit, Novolo. Didn't I say WoW was a better fit for you?

So so true..I used to be impressed with people who had good gear..but then there was a move to make it the standard so you're just expecting them to have the good gear rather than to be lucky to see someone with it. I still hold myself to that but I like this game a lot and sometimes I get frustrated at what needs to be done...

And I think that making items be classified like the Mannequin pieces would be great... ever see how varied the pries are for the mannequin pieces??? and who the heck wants to keep that in their inventory for 4 weeks? Making those N/M drops into an item that can only be traded or sold in bazaars would change the economy a bit... I think it could be a good idea...but it's just that...an idea... lol

Yeah, but 6-12-18-24 months ago they were still whinging about how expensive things were. The whole problem is that a significant number of players believe they should just be given what they want, and shouldn't have to do anything for it. Apparently that's the way it works in WoW.

AH prices are just another excuse...
