I don't think we've had a whole board beat down of someone since Shaunessey was around. How grand.

P.S. Smalls....can you just explain why you are such an idiot? Or at least learn to put your ideas out in a way that people can understand.

Take notes, everyone, this moron is a decent chunk of everything that is wrong with the world today.

Hey, if it were up to me, I'd go the Starship Troopers route (the great book, not the piece of shit movie by Mr. RoboCop) and make enfranchisement dependant on military service.
Not to derail too much, but no, no, a thousand times no. As much as it pains me to say, rights shouldn't even be biased based on intelligence. Military service is even worse.

what exactly did u not understand?

Anything you have been saying. Its far too stupid for anyone to *actually* believe that.

Your argument is far too base to warrant rate downs.

On topic, I think it boils down to the fact that under the law, heterosexual couples are garnered a certain degree of protection that homosexual couples are not. There is your inequality - and it's fairly cut and dry, I might add. I cannot think of a justifiable, legal (ie. not aligned with one's religious beliefs) reason as to why this manner of discrimination is allowed to exist. Yes, marriage is not for everyone (much like it's not for every straight person), but the option should still exist if a gay couple chooses to pursue it, and should offer the same benefits.

As for religious institutions... I don't think much of them personally, and in a manner of speaking they are allowed to discriminate by adopting an "It's my club, if you don't like the rules then git out" kind of mentality. As a non-religious person, I cannot understand why people would still wish to be a part of an entity which disapproves of and vilifies their lifestyle and person... But it might be different for someone who grew up with a particular faith. Here you're dealing with church, not state - and the two are, in ideal circumstances, separate. The church doesn't have to accomodate everyone, just those who are part of it's congregation and who make generous contributions written out to Jesus (because you know, the guy always seems to be strapped for cash). I guess the whole "Jesus loves you" mantra comes with terms and conditions :p

Anyway, as has been suggested earlier, all the ceremonial side of things are really just trimming (for most). What really needs to be amended is the legal perspective of the issue.

Well I'm going to interject here for a second with some humour

/em gets out his trucker hat, wifebeater with gravy stains on it, redneck teeth....

God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve!!

But seriously,

I do support gay marriage, but of course the ultimate right wing Christian Evangelists with their dabbling into politics will try to steer this away repeatedly. I live near San Francisco and understand why the homosexual population wants to get married. We are supposed to be a secular society but the fundamentalists will impede any kind of progress pertaining to this topic. Gays are still citizens and should therefore be entitled to any benefits that a heterosexual marriage has. I just find it ironic that we target terrorists who are aiming for an Islamic state under Sharia Law in their respective countries, but how are we any different if we chose to be "tolerant" but yet still intolerant in this aspect. Intolerance is probably one of the greatest ills for any society....

Polling services are not allowed to solicit information from minors. The study could more accurately be described as "1/5 of adult Americans can't point to the U.S. on a world map."

If it seems incredible and hard to believe, that's because it is.

Fortunately you have enlightened us as to the possibility of densities far beyond what we previously suspected.

the study could even more accurately be described as made up.

18-24 year olds vastly out performed the national average so our education system must be getting a lot better.

...

You have no idea what yuo are even talking about. It doesn't say anything about that in the source provided in the post before yours. Were you talking about a different source? Out performed what? National average of what?

sounds more like you have no idea what im talking about. a few posts back we determined that a fifth (20%) of americans could not locate the us on a map.
then someone posted that 11% of 18-24 year olds couldnt locate it on a map. so 18-24 year olds did a whole lot better than americans as a whole.

Protip: When talking about how someone "has no idea what you're talking about", try realizing the obvious, rather than the outlandish.

Someone tries to recall a statistic, and incorrectly remembers 20% rather than 11%. It's not some... whatever the hell you want it to be, and it doesn't change the point that was made, or the fact that it's a real and disturbing statistic.

That's gotta be your best post yet.
But it's so much fun to laugh at him, why would you do this!
