Why GAY people should not Marry

I forgot to add this, I am gay to let ya know

1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control are not natural.

2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people cannot get legally married because the world needs more children.

3. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children because straight parents only raise straight children.

4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful, since Britney Spears's 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

5. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and it hasn't changed at all: women are property, Blacks can't marry Whites, and divorce is illegal.

6. Gay marriage should be decided by the people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of minorities.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are always imposed on the entire country. That's why we only have one religion in America.

8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people makes you tall.

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage license.

10. Children can never succeed without both male and female role models at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to cars or longer lifespans.

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages will for gays & lesbians.

Meh, I'm all for gay marriage, so long as it's through the courts or whatever "religion" allows such.

Forcing other religions to adopt gay marriage though, not a fan of.

I got a kick out of the little list though. :)

Easy solution:

Make the term "Civil Union" mean the legal identity of two people under the law (the part of getting married that involves going to your city or county courthouse and getting a license), and leave the term "Marriage" to the various religious institutions.

So if Jack and Jill or Jack and John want to get together for purposes of taxes, both couples go and get a civil union. If Jack and Jill or Jack and John want to get 'married,' they go to a church have and a cerimony, but that cerimony doesn't mean anything to the law in terms of taxes, immigration, or the legal right to not testify against your spouse.

On the flip side of the coin, legal divorce would now be the proceedings to undo a civil union.

Heck, we could even accommodate (some) Mormons in this: "marry" as many people as you want, but you're only going to be "civilly united" to one in the eyes of the law.

Separation of Church and State, check.
Equal Rights, check.

In short, make everyone get civil unions.

Thats what i say, Marriage now a days means more then religion it is for the tax breaks and benefits you get from the government.

Aka, Immigration, taxes, health insurance, death, ect and many more

On another train of thought, people make the argument that homosexuality is not part of the natural order of things. I had an idea the other day that could explain it.

In terms of natural selection according to the classic Darwinian model, homosexuality would disappear quickly because it would be a genetic dead end (2 males or 2 females could not breed). This is an argument of those who support the "Nurture" side of the Nature vs. Nurture debate because there should logically be no genetic predisposition to being homosexual.

However, that state only exists if you look at evolution from the individual standpoint. What if homosexuality is a development across the whole species? Let's assume for a second that homosexuality is genetic; according to the laws of natural selection, what possible advantage would it give?

Population control.

For the sake of argument, let's say that homosexuality is a recessive trait similar to (pure) red hair in that it requires recessive genes to be contributed by both parents. Carriers could not express it in their children unless their sexual partner was a carrier as well, and even then it would only be a 25% chance. Statistically, there are fewer homosexuals, so we could assume that it requires a match more complicated than 2 or 3 gene pairs.

This still doesn't answer the question of advantage. With such a (relatively) small chance of occuring, homosexuality doesn't express itself in numbers until you have a *large* population. Under these assumptions, the larger the population, the more homosexuals will be born.

While homosexuality wouldn't give an evoluntionary advantage to the individual (quite the opposite, in fact, since no genes would be passed on), it would act as a population safety valve for the species as a whole. As the species overpopulates, more genetic dead ends are created who (under normal circumstances) would not reproduce. This in turn would curtail the population.

Even with modern technology, unless a gay couple purchased an egg from a lesbian or a lesbian couple got a sperm donation from a gay man, the chance of creating homosexual offspring from a homosexual couple would be very low.

Not this time,
NANCY BOY!

ok?

Lets pick this apart one piece at a time, shall we?

1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control are not natural.

How is it anything but natural? People are born gay, meaning they don't pick. That's nature taking its course.

2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people cannot get legally married because the world needs more children.

Tell that to china. Are you really this dumb?

3. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children because straight parents only raise straight children.

This is about the blatently stupid thing i have ever read on QCDN, and i frequent the flameboard alot. I know twins, one is gay, the other is straight. They have normal parents. Explain that one chief.

4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful, since Britney Spears's 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

Do you realize how many people run off to vegas to get married while they are drunk and then divorce like a week later? Straightness is not what makes marriage meaningful, its the bond you share with your partner that makes it so.

5. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and it hasn't changed at all: women are property, Blacks can't marry Whites, and divorce is illegal.

Okay, this has taken second place on stupidest thigns ever written. Hetrosexual marriage has changed a shit-ton. Depending on who you talk to women are still property (myrrh), but most of us have moved past that. Blacks can marry whites actually, and judging by the 50% divorce rate America has, i would say its pretty darn legal.

7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are always imposed on the entire country. That's why we only have one religion in America.

I can't believe so many completly stupid things are said in one post, jesus. We don't have a theocracy in america. The values of Christianity are imposed (if you even want to call it that) in a very small amount, and its even optional. P.S. we don't have 1 religion in america.

8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people makes you tall.

Once again, you don't choose to be gay. I have an umpteen amount of gay friends and not once have i ever thought about them sexually, outside of a joking manner. Hanging around tall people doesn't make you tall. You can't force yourself to grow.

9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage license.

Dogs don't have thumbs, so they can't really hold a pen to sign. Dogs also don't have the cognative ability for that sort of thing. If someone really wants to marry a pet, i doubt a few silly laws are going to stop them. Your argument here is the same as marijuana is a gate way drug, and i know alot of people on the boards and off that can attest to the falsness (real word?) of this.

10. Children can never succeed without both male and female role models at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

Enlighten me where it says single women can't raise children. I'm pretty sure i didn't have a dad (until recently) and i turned out, what looks like, a hell of a lot smarter than you.

11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to cars or longer lifespans.

Gay marriage won't happen enough to change the foundation of anything. Yes, there will be lots of gay marriages, but there won't be suddenly a turn of people enough to make that huge of a change. Explain the car thing and the longer lifespan thing more too. You completly lost me on that.

12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages will for gays & lesbians.

Seperate but equal hasn't been constitutional for awhile now. Maybe you should read up on the court case that overturned that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_v._Board_of_Education Read up on your history some. It didn't really work all that well.

If you really feel this way about things, then i honestly feel bad for you, your friedns, and your close family. Having to deal with such a hateful person really can't be good. By chance, are you a member of the aryan brotherhood?

EDIT: after reading other posts, is this a joke? If it is, sorry for going off like that. Its a very touchy subject for me. Yes, an epic woosh for me, but it sickens me, because i've actually met people that believe this sort of thing. I guess it makes me happy that this actually sin't the case here.

Too bad there is no "Whm for Dummies" book. Go away.

Someone post a nice epic woosh image for Makelith, please.

Gay people should be allowed to get married and be miserable like every one else.

Okay, this deserves attention.

Homosexuality is a choice.
Homosexuality is a choice.
Homosexuality is a choice.

Uh no, you have a problem with Ryujin's sarcasm then you go away and tell your mommy that there's a post about gay people on qcdn. If your such a homophobe then go beat the gay person you see to the ground. That's including lesbians, cus i'm sure if this was about lesbians, you'd be /drooling over your keyboard.

Are you retarded? His post was the complete opposite of homophobic. He was sticking up for gay rights with regards to marriage. It was obvious he misread Ryujin's post for a homophobic one.

LOL STRAIGHT PARENTS ONLY PRODUCE STRAIGHT CHILDREN LLLLLLLLOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL

There wouldn't be gay people then...

And we need more children? We need another genocide if you ask me.

Over 6 billion people on the earth. Using our resources way to fast for what we have.

I are laughed too! lolol

Uhhh, i'm not a homophobe. My post was about supporting gay people. Yeah, i missed his sarcasm, because i've run in to people who actually believe this. I'm not running to my mommy about anything. I don't even know what the hell you are talking about with this post. You're an idiot.

P.S. I'm all for lesbians too.

Seriously though if this is the intelligence of straight people being produced i'm all for gay couples adopting.

(semi sarcastic post, i'm actually fine with gay couples adopting anyway)

lol, poor Makelith. /comfort

Anyways, yeah this thing is old, i've have a website bookmarked that had either T-shirts or Flyers of these 12 'lolreasons' for like 2 years now :)
