It's subjective. The law creates a standard "legal" age of consent which is supposed to fit the majority of people. Granted there will be exceptions as not everyone reaches sexual maturity at precisely the same moment, but the law isn't really something to cater to individual situations.



If people are against gay marriage well then... they shouldn't marry someone of the same sex and allow gay people to have the same legal protection as everyone else. It's quite simple - it doesn't affect you. Whoever someone else chooses to sleep/marry does not in any way, shape or form affect you directly. Which begs the question, why is there so much resistance and why are you (using the pronoun generally here) so preoccupied with the personal lives of others? Homosexuals won't destroy the "sanctity of marriage", straight people can do that just fine.

THANK YOU. I'm so sick of the phrases "life partner", "civil unions", and "lover". It's like saying "almost-husband", "not-quite-marriage", "kind-of-boyfriend".

It's also kind of bullshit that I couldn't visit my husband if he were in the urgent care center of a hospital because we're not legally married. Same benefits my ass. Not being able to file together for taxes is also lame, but not because we have to pay more; it's because the government is in reality telling us that our relationship is not valid.


Although...I wish you wouldn't be so harsh on Christians. When you assume they are all bigots who hate gays, you are being a bigot yourself. It's like saying that all gays love to shop. Isn't that insulting? Please don't assume stereotypes with Christians.

It's true, they do think gays are going to hell, but trust me, they aren't happy about it. True Christians would do anything to get us to accept Christ because they do care, and want us to be saved. Unfortunately, the only image we see of Christians on television are on things like this:

I'm a Christian, and I'm all for gay marriage. I think gays should have the same equal rights as the rest of the country. I'm not entirely approving of their lifestyle, but what people do with their sex organs isn't for me to say - "judge not lest ye be judged", or something like that. I know I'm not perfect, so to call someone out on what I believe to be an imperfection would make me, in a sense, a hypocrite - and I fucking hate hypocrites. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I never argue with anyone about anything, but there's a big difference in discussing opinion and exchanging ideas through a productive argument, and gay bashing. I have a friend that's gay, and I don't treat him any less.
It's true that the media only portray's the corrupt side of "Christianity", we have a bad rep these days, but not all of us are crazy assholes like you see on TV.

for about 3000 years, in most parts of the world that we know, homosexuality was looked upon as a disgusting act

they were mostly segregated in their own cities

public homosexuality didn't really get a large influence anywhere in the world since the last 50 years, which is, barely out of OUR generation

most of our parents, and definitely our grandparents, were probably a part of the large scale shunning of those people, and there fore their ideals pass down to their offspring

I have my own opinions about it that I rather not talk about, but for the most part I believe that if they want to be that way, they should do it, but they shouldn't cause problems in other peoples lives just to do such.

the same thing can be said for the other side, as well

The argument that ruffy brought about this was that a gay person can't really help who they have feelings for, so how are they any different from straight people, or pedos. Since pedos can't help who they have feelings for.
 
It wasnt so much a comparison between two 'wrong' things, but the way people 'cant help who they are.'

I for one believe people can help who they are, however, but thats just me.
 
lol yeah i was a closet gay for 18 years had girl friends has sex with em. The whole time i was thinking of guys and i dont like boobies ect.

This mindset, thats why, thats how, it directly affects everyone.

Our population needs children made, our government needs new children to support it, and so our government supports those that make children.
