A lot of things about her make me wish I was her. She has gone about the majority of her time in this game doing her own thing her own way. You could see her in Qufim or CN leveling almost anytime she was logged on. Full RSE, and some decent equips that helped MP for her /whm on any job she had.
Takes me back to before I knew much about this game, I'd say pre-60 (around the time I found this board). I lead a small group of players (10-20) in an LS that accomplished so much for having only a DRK as it's "high level" player. I tanked a whole shitload of coffer runs, fought AF2 and AF3 NMs oh so many times, and I went about my business in no rush to get any higher.
One of my noobs, a prospective DRG (don't ask how that happened in my LS) is actually the one who taught me about big fights. I got him SJ items and unlocked his DRG for him along with other advanced jobs, yet he knew so much more about the end game than I ever knew.
I kind of wish that had never happened, because that is when I started looking at the real elite gear (r/e) and how to obtain it. It took something out of the game while putting something into it. All the gear I want probably isn't worth just doing whatever with the small group of friends I called my LS.
I eventually leveled RNG to get my foot in the door, and broke the LS I ran (there was some termoil as well, wasn't just, hey i leveled see you later). Of the few who actually ended up getting to endgame, I've taken part in end game activities with all of them. The character I play now, Callum, was the guy who introduced me to the end game NMs, and it was one of my greatest thrills to see him get his W. legs and complete his PLD AF gear in one month of joining my sky LS, when he had spent the previous 6 months with another LS and never recieved jack. Seeing the LV10 Galka WHM/WAR I invited into my LS get his Nobles was another great thrill. The gear i got from sky doesn't stand out as much.
I miss the gratitude the older players had when something was accomplished. I remember frustration when things took so long to get done. All it takes now is the right tell to the right player and within 30min it's done. Back in the day there just wasn't that many 70+ players in the game. It took me 3 weeks to get paper and about 10k xp loss, it took me another few weeks getting my first piece of AF, and now I see Lululn has been shouting for missioin 8-1 and I think that she has the same feeling I had back then. I didn't have a big LS, I wasn't known by many, if it wasn't for meeting Arturus and Audino I probably wouldn't have been able to pull off so many AF3s for my LS.
I want a real feeling of accomplishment again, not just "ok, this thing we've killed 894738439 times is dead, you take this you take that, congratulations, can i get a d2".
End game sucks the innocence out of the game, then the competitor comes out. i'm a fierce competitor and I love it, but sometimes I see Lululn and wish i was just playing.
