Why is the PS3 a fail?

Didn't the rumble feature that was with Sony's controllers was made by or with the help of another company? And that's why there wasn't rumble at the beginning cause Sony + that other company (I forget the name) weren't on the best of terms and now they've kinda worked things out so that's why rumbles finally being added? I remember reading something about that...

Yes, sony's rumble violated another company's patent an the other company took sony to court. Sony lost a few hundred million, I believe; and then the company stonewalled sony during discussions to use the rumble technology in new controllers.

I still dont get why people are so crazy about it, its an annoying thing.
Because it makes you feel less like you're just watching a movie with a controller in your hand?

Oh, I thought it was another company. Not the one they originally ripped the rumble off of but one they were working with.. or did they become the same? Hmm.. ah well.

Anyway Bajaratt, since you don't seem to get it, my point is that when Pokemon or whatever comes out with online multiplayer you're going to be saying, "hurray, finally got online multiplayer!" You aren't going to be going around saying how it should have been around since day 1.

No, I won't. I don't care about online multiplayer for the most part, I much rather play with people in the same room as me. Plus, none of my real-life friends can even find a wii, so there wouldn't be many people I'd want to play with.

At least I can admit someone messed up, rather than try to change the subject to something irrelevant to avoid admitting that your precious sony actually did something wrong.

You play a MMORPG, so obviously online play matters a little to you. Rumble on the other hand is pretty easy to lose and forget it ever existed. It's not like when I was playing PS2 I even noticed the controller was rumbling in the first place.

And it's not that I can't admit if Sony made mistakes. The point is you greet GOOD news from Sony by using it as a springboard to bash it. It's actually pretty immature and pathetic.

Edit in here: There's actually a pretty logical reason as to why you forget about rumble eventually. It's the same reason you no longer notice a smell when you've been near it long enough and why you don't notice the weight of your clothes hanging off your body after you've been dressed for a while. Your brain adjusts to the rumble and eventually you really cannot notice it unless it does something out of the ordinary to startle you.(Like rumble at a point when you don't expect it to, hardly ever happens in any games.) This is a proven scientific principle and it's been the case for me ever since a day after I started playing Star Fox 64.

I've been playing video games for nearly seventeen years now. I don't honestly notice the difference between a game that supports rumble and one that does not unless the game specifically requires you to feel the rumble (Metal Gear, for example). Sure, it would have been neat to have rumble, but like any wireless controller, the rumble eats batteries. Point in case: the wiimote. That thing literally eats batteries if you leave rumble turned on. So what do I do when I play the Wii? I turn off the rumble. The same is true for every wireless controller I've ever used.

Could you please try to find something a little bit more legitimate to complain about? Do you honest to god miss the rumble? Most times it's poorly implemented, for Christ's sake. I don't go back and play Wario's Woods on my SNES and go "Gee, this game sucks. If only it had rumble." I'd gladly trade rumble for improved visual/audio clarity.

Here's the way I see it: the Wii is the past, the XBox360 is the present, and the PS3 will be the future. And people will be biting all the stupid shit they've been saying. This is the biggest bandwagon I've seen since pointless Bush bashing. Bandwagons are stupid as hell.

So, it's a good update, but it doesn't even matter because rumble is worthless now?

The flaw with your analogy is that the smell is constant, whereas the rumble isn't. I still notice when my controller shakes, but I'm also not zoning out when I play. If it didn't add anything to game play, it would have been phased out years ago.

Graphics/power-wise, I'd have to agree, but in terms of gameplay it's hard to believe that motion sensitive controls will just die out, especially considering how much industry leaders love the controls and how fast the wii is selling everywhere.

The most likely thing is that the next gen consoles will have the PS3's power with the control level of the Wiimote.

next gen better be beyond PS3's power XD

The rumble isn't constantly going off, so you don't zone it out to the point that you can't tell it's rumbling if you're trying to. You can't notice a smell that you're actively looking for if you've become used to it. However if it becomes associated... as in, it rumbles every time I get shot, and I notice getting shot without the need of the rumble, then you won't actively be saying to yourself, "Oh! It's rumbling!" "Not rumbling." "Not rumbling" "Rumbling again!"

There's no downside to the rumble, except of course.. the battery drain, and considering the controllers are so easy to recharge and have a very long life, it's no big deal to me. So if I had a choice, I'd pick the rumble. However, annoying people on the internet bitching about the rumble will always be a bigger annoyance than the lack of rumble itself.

Turn rumble off and watch your frag count get better in FPS games.

Rumble always made it a little harder to aim for me too, duno why.

Never noticed, but I only play FPS casually anyway and very rarely online.

I'm not a FPS buff, but i do enjoy them more than the average person. Rumble always made it just a little tougher to concentrate on the screen. Sometimes you dont need to be reminded thats its a game.

The best feature of rumble is when you are watching a cutscene that makes it rumble and you put it in your crotch :D Good times...

You know what's been pissing me off? The fact that so many companies are making downloadable content exclusive to the 360.. it's not like the PS3 can't handle that too :\ so annoying. Seems GTA IV, Guitar Hero 3, and other multiplatform games are getting downloadable content ONLY for the 360... why is that? >.>

There's exclusive GTA4 content for both systems. No idea what's going on with Guitar Hero 3, but I assume they'll have songs for sale on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii.
