The report was that it's profits this year were 77% higher than they were last year; due to massive wii and DS sales.

I remember wanting a Virtual Boy, the commercials didn't tell you it was red and black. Someone brought one to school and I played it... with a 'WTF is this shit' reaction.

Lol no dvd player on the wii. The wii has its own fucking internet browser. That alone> DVD player. I'm sorry I am looking at my DVD player right now it's called a... DVD player.

Yeah, bragging about DVD playback is almost pointless at this point, everyone already has at least one DVD player. If you don't, they're maybe $20 at walmart, but everyone already owned a PS2 or if their computer is at most 5 years old they can play DVD's.
 
The Wii has a DVD drive, just not any software to play the DVDs. You can mod your Wii to play DVDs if you really want it to do that. I'm personally waiting for the warranty to expire before I mod it. Nintendo has hinted at a new Wii version to be released later that will play DVDs.
 
Yeah, they said in the future it might be able to play DVD's, but it's not a selling point.

except playing DVDs on PS2 is bad for the laser :| it can play em but wasn't designed for it original sooo.. bah

Is that true? I remember doing some things was bad for the PS2, but playing a DVD is new. That doesn't even make sense, because all of the games are DVD's as well; the only difference would be the software that is running the laser.

but the difference between the games and videos is that the video is constantly being read from, whereas with most games, its just loaded and you play from there, without the laser doing any reading until the next level/area and so on.
