Today I was bored, and I was leafing thought some olllllld papers from when I was in grade school (haha) and saw a bunch of pictures I had drawn. When I was young I always had a passion for drawing, but never got into art too much. I decided that was was gonna jot something down on a pad, and this was the final product.

Disclaimer: By no means do I think this is some fantastic masterpiece, but I was pretty satisfied with it for not having drawn anything in over five years...




Constructive criticism is welcome I guess, but don't be too harsh on me

Jersey is awesome. The shading could be improved, but not too much - stadiums are pretty bright all around.

The pants could use considerable work. I'd start with a light gray to represent glare/gloss (uniforms usually polyester), then a dark charcoal for the normal black, and black for the shadowed areas (underside in the crotch area).

No complaints on the head. It seems fairly proportionate =)

All in all, not bad at all to draw and get the colors to stand out like that. Usually I just sketch black and white using grayscale shading because it is easier. I like it =).

Great pic Tim, I didn't know you were an artist on paper!

Well, the first thing I noticed were the folds in the shirt. I think having the little creases on the right side, make everything look all the more realistic and as far as the actual outline of the body, I think you did it very well. I also really like the detail in the shirt.

The only area that could be improved on is the actual shading, but then again depending on the style of coloring you were going for, what you have sits fine on its own.

Oh, and the smudginess in the white area kinda gives the pic a neat look. I've always liked it when you can see the actual smudges from drawing a picture, it just gave it a more "rustic" look to me.

You should take up drawing again whenever you're bored or when you're camping an NM, its fun to doodle every once in a while and surprise yourself when you actually produce something you're impressed with.

Because I'm horribly bored, here's another one. It was originally just a sketch, but for some reason my scanner wouldn't pick it up (either that, or I'm retarded. More than likely the latter). I colored it, and it turned out looking like crap, but oh well. It was still fun to draw, and looks kinda neat I guess.



For some reason I've always liked that smearing effect, though sometimes I go a little overboard with it (first picture heh). I don't know what it is, but it always appeals to my eye to kinda blend it (Usually using my finger, ghetto style). Meh. Enjoy ^^

Edit: The more I look at this one, the more it looks like the crayon scribblings of a 12 year old >< Damn you colored pencils!

Or the SE concept art (install screen for CoP comes to mind) for any of the expansions... I don't know if that is a good or bad thing. Take your pick.

Try taking your time coloring and blending. It looks like on both of them, you just rushed through to color them.
