After several very long discussions I bring the debate to you.

Why didn't dancer get Dual Wield?

It fits, and as we've discussed ad nauseum, dual wield doesn't really "add" anything but the ability to have a faster offhand weapon to speed up TP aquisition for a more damaging mainhand weapon. Other than that there's technically not a TP advanage.

I've got a few arguments for/against this, but I think this is a good enough seed on it's own.

I didn't really like dual wield all that much til 50 (rap harness + swift belt^^) , the delay in between swings, added to possible misses, tends to make sambas effects wear off alot. Using one dagger spaces out the swings nice and even, making it less likely for the effect to wear. I subbed thf in exp parties til I was asked to sub nin (dagger belt + SA stacks with the gravity flourish and eva down step, which helped my party in one garl. citadel party a lot). I think giving the job dual wield would be good more for flavor then actual use (unless of course they get dual wield II before 50, since /nin is all but useless before 50 for tp gain).

Honestly it would have been better for dancer to get Store TP instead of dual wield.

At 75 I almost always go dnc/sam when I'm main healing in a party, campaign or merit wise. At 60 dnc/sam is a huge advantage because of meditate, zanshin, and store tp 2, although I might be mistaken on the level you get one of those as /sam.

The only time I use /nin on my dancer now is when I know I'll be in a situation where I'll need the extra defense from shadows, or if I'm soloing in campaign and feel like doing some dmg. At that point I'll main hand one of my various daggers, and offhand my joyeuse.

Other then that, straight tp gain wise /sam is a much better sub. I actually use my joyeuse alone instead of a dagger as /sam. With store tp 2 from /sam, the store tp on the cobra gear, and various other pieces of gear, I get 2.5% more tp per swing. DA with my joyeuse gets me 16-17% tp an attack round.

I'm aware that dnc sword skill is crap, but with all the acc gear that is readily available to dnc, specially on the cobra set which seems to scream "I was made for dancer you moron", it's not to much of an issue getting sword swings to hit. I also have capped sword merits giving me just barely a C rating with sword, as long as I have my suppanomimi on. Not amazing, but enough to easily hit, even in merit parties, acc food helps but isn't really necessary, even against mamool and greater colibri.

And currently at the moment I don't have a brutal earring, which I'm working on, and I also don't have a rajas ring, again in the works. From what I've looked at, it's possible to get almost 3.5% extra tp per attack round with most of the cobra gear and other stp pieces. By the way, Bushido Cape, or mantle, whichever it is, is amazing as /sam. Zanshin and the enhance zanshin effect, is a godsend, specially at lower lvls

I wasn't considering going as /sam to exp, but maybe I will. Good to hear someone speaking from actual experience with it. And yeah, since DNCs dot doesn't seem to be that good, I was thinking that the store TP from cobra gear might be better then a number of haste pieces for DNC, at least those with store TP value that's greater then the haste value in that slot.
