Why?

You don't really need a real end-game shell to do some of this stuff. I have done some really cool things lately and met some great new people by just signing up for things on the event scheduling forum. Helps that I never have to set foot in sky again. Dynamis definately takes the right frame of mind to make it fun and fortunately I am part of one of the best.

Oh, and too lazy to look back at thread but whomever said that the only thing left to do is xp and that is boring is way wrong. There are too many things to do in this game and endgame stuff is just a small part of it. In fact you really can't categorize endgame into one lump anymore with all the different facets - sky, sea, limbus, dynamis, salvage, hnm, kings, ks, enm etc....

I would try a few shells before making the decision to not do end game stuff. I found a shell that works for me, and as far as I can tell, doesn't get mentioned on these boards very much, which is a good thing I suppose. If you don't take what's posted on these boards with a grain of salt, one'd probably quit in about a week. ;)

Lol Amen.

OP, don't let people put a hook in your mouth. They would like nothing better than to see you stick your neck out so they can take a look at that vein. That's what endgamers do more than anything. They just want to see you deconstruct because in the end they subconsciously would rather see you "not in" than "in." They don't want competition from people who doubt their lifestyles.

Meh, again, I dunno, but I know there aren't many people jumping up and down for level 72 PLDs to join their dynamis shell. I mean, he wouldn't even get to lot most of his peices since he can't wear them. He was probably being watched to see if he was actively leveling. I don't think anyone was slipping, they were just following their guidelines. He wasn't showing any promise from everything I've seen. It has nothing to do with me, but I just thought I would answer his question, since he asked it in 2 different threads.

You have seen nothing outside of this website. When I posted that 9 days ago on your ls's website I was level 70 and I am currently 10k tnl of 73 with plans on being 75 by New Years.

And I dont really care about lotting at this point on my AFv2 Items, or any items for that matter, purely because I can't wear them yet. But would you rather have a level 75 PLD that has an Idea of what is going on beecause he has been on runs already? Or one that has never been on a run ever?

A major problem with endgame mentality. Who cares about the player when we don't need what's on paper?

I mean, he wouldn't even get to lot most of his peices since he can't wear them.
What dynamis shell requires you to slave for them, putting equal effort in as anyone but denying you the lot because you are simply underleveled?

He was probably being watched to see if he was actively leveling.
As if a L72 is going to stop. Are they that paranoid and statist?

He wasn't showing any promise from everything I've seen.
You've ignored him. You've badgered him. You've put the words in his mouth that you wanted to hear. You literally have no idea what kind of player this is. You just think you do.

You all do this to people routinely endgame. You take a look at their parameters, deem them unworthy, then fulfill the prophecy when they sense they're already being treated like dirt and they don't know why. If you take ANY player, and treat them like you all routinely do to people who you don't see the right job in, the right gear in, and the right logistics in, they will fullfill that "well he wasn't showing promes from everything I've seen" bit every time if they have an ounce of worth in them.

These players should not come bowing to endgamers as if they lack something. Do you want sheep or do you want players? If he were a red mage or bard, he would not be waiting even if he were the most sniveling, worthless, lifeless patsy out there. And the sad part is that you would fill in the blanks that he lacks. He will appear solid to you. That worthless bard will magically have the things you think you don't see in this paladin. Why? Because subconsciously everything has to fit and align. You make everything align by calling the L72 paladin a lackluster candidate on the whole and calling the bard a good prospect up-and-comer.

But instead it's just an uncapped paladin to you. It would take an act of God to make such a player worth something to the traditional endgamers, and such a player has little hope at ever being accepted no matter how they play or talk or interact. When people realize they're being treated like dirt, you cannot hold that against them. No, this dude doesn't belong in endgame as it stands. He would have made a fine addition, but that he can detect the eyes looking down on him, he has little chance at succeeding.

You have to be blind enough to not see that the endgamers are looking down on you to get into endgame these days. The second you realize that they're looking down on you, you're done, and they'll bury you.

I made one offhand mention of waiting for a response in the original post, and I would have continued waiting while hoping that someone was going to post something positive in this thread in order to spur me on to continue my persuit of end-game. I did get a few positive posts. And for those I thank you.

I get invites almost daily on the game to end-game ls's, which I turn all down because none are 1. Dynamis or 2. Dynamis at the right time. I have a very limited amount of time to play, and when I am able to play I want to participate in fun activities.

If that means that I just tank things for my Social for the rest of the time I play this game, that would be fine, but would get boring as hell. I want more and Dynamis is the only thing that fits. I like the idea of HNMLS, but its too time contraining with the amount of time I would have to sit on the LS for pops.

I did not want this thread turned into drama. I just wanted to hear some positive reasons besides gear (sorry, I dont care about how big my e-peen is and gear will come if I am meant to get it) as to why I should even bother.

Honestly no offense meant, but you did sound irritated right from your original posting. I think people would have been nicer in their responses if you had approached your initial post and responses differently.

If you had simply said "I'm not sure if I want to get into endgame because of some things I have heard; can people please tell me some positives/negatives about it?" you would have received a very different response than what you did. Your original post came across more as a challenge for people to prove to you why it’s worth it. No one needs to prove anything to you; why would we bother? If you want to try it then do so, if not, that’s fine.

As you said:

Coustain said:
I guess I will just stick with the Social Shell (unless someone can really tell me why I should bother, and I dont care if no one cares about my post on this topic, if you dont have anything constructive to say don't bother posting as, again, I don't care)

Why should we bother to convince you to play endgame especially if you’re going to come across with that kind of attitude? Do what you want. In spite of your saying that you don’t need drama in a video game your original and subsequent posts were quite dramatic.

In regards to the dynamis shell you mentioned not responding to you app, that’s a whole different issue and if you really just made this post to flame them you should have left out the other stuff and put the complaint about them on the Flameboard.

Again, nobody can really tell you. Much like you wouldn't buy a pair of shoes before you had a chance to try them on for yourself, you'll need to try out end game activities to see if they are for you. If one, let's say sky, isn't for you, then you can try something like Limbus which might be much more suited to you.

I think Hali mentioned gear being a perk, and it definitely is. I see gear and decide I'd like it. If you absolutely can't stand the methods of obtaining that gear, don't bother. This is where we need to remember this is just a game. Different things make us tick as individuals, but I'm sorry, if this game seems like a job, you've made a wrong turn. The only way to know is to try for yourself. My best suggestion is to get situated with a group of people you are comfortable with at the very least. Any activity in the game is not worth it if you aren't enjoying it or the people around you.

if you do it for the gear, you might be disappointed, as most shells take a long time to earn alot of the prestigious gear.

however, if you do it for the love of the fights, and to be with your friends-- then you wouldnt be let down :D

75PLD Because they will always be told what they are doing prior to the run anyways, and the gear available makes it better. Experience is great, but not the issue. When you actually get to the point where you at least have access (you don't have to own the best) to ALL your gear, it becomes a different story. I don't see why people create this fake image of a complete level 75 idiot to compare themselves to anyways...

Anyways, back to the point. There had been 1 friday run since your post and if no one checked it, you wont get a reply. Again, it is the holidays and people aren't hovering around like they would be other times of the year.

Wrong answer. You pick the L72, because for the L75 to have had experience, they stand a good chance of having quit their old dynamis shell. And chances are, therefore, that that L75 has some issues. All things being equal I would take the 0 run paladin over one who finds themselves experienced but for some reason without a shell.

Over and over people make the mistake of emphasizing statistical potential over the stats' engine. Within the end of the month, they will be the stats that you think are important now. The engine never changes, and yet that's the last thing on your mind.

Wow, thats alot of assuming.

There were probably just more than enough people for the run, and no one checked. It's not some huge thing like you'd have people think Pere. Your analogy of people looking down on him would probably be more accurate if it was people not looking at all.

Last run I went on there were more than enough refreshers. Bottom line is a PLD has a set number of uses, and the PLDs level plays a huge factor in all of them. Support jobs do just that and having more of them than melee of any form only helps the melee. Its apples and oranges. It's not like he wasn't contacted because he wasn't a BRD or RDM, its because he wasn't noticed or wasn't a worthwhile hand to feed yet. He doesn't bring anything to the table that was needed/wanted. People can cry foul all they want, but if he's gonna complain and exagerate in his complaints, then he stands a good chance of not liking the end game scene.

Whatever, that's your opinion. You're hardly the most successful dynamis shell, so it appears that difference hasn't worked out in your favor.

I don't see the point of comparing some make believe PLD with problems to an underleveled one. If they have issues/drama then thats that. Unfortunetly the OP has now included himself in your example. Compare a level 72 PLD with some drama, to a 75 with some drama...

Then they can wait a month. There was obviously no shortage/need for more PLD or he would have gotten a tell.

And still, after all that, you wear the endgame sign proud. Take only the stats, that is all that matters. Invic is as old as it is because we look at a car's engine instead of the paint.

He can wait a month you say...you're not worth that. How can you honestly believe that you're not looking down on a player when you utter something like that?

He's saying that you hold the food but yet still make the people wait to be fed. In the meantime your life is stable and comfortable while others are begging and starving. Power blinds, how well can you see?

edit - felt like adding that even though Peregrine seems errogant, I do like the way he talks.

Nope. I don't do anything. I think you're falling under his spell of generalizations and strawman arguments. Do you respond to all the credit card forms you get in the mail? I mean that would be the closest comparison I could see to this situation.

You don't always check your mail every day. By all means a credit card is a useful thing, and a 72 PLD is a useful thing, but I don't need another one of either right now. If the guy who made the credit card offer was standing right next to me when I read it I would say thanks but I'm not interrested right now. If the PLD isn't online to talk to when I'm free to do so, I would have to just toss it to the side like I would a credit card offer. Again, both are good things, both are things that can be very helpfull, but you only need/want so many.

And using the same analogy, I only have one income to split between credit card payments and only so much AF drops in a dynamis run. It would be unfair/unwise to take on more PLDs and Credit Cards when my income hasn't increased.

Bigboy said:

You asked what he was talking about and I gave you my interpretation of what he meant, nothing more. Never once did i say i agree with what he said or say something against you. Your assuming too much.

Sneakypants just gave you the best advice you will hear.

I don't consider myself an "endgamer," although I do participate in a few engame activities. I ran with Notorious Hunters a long time ago and soon realized I didn't care for the demands on my time or the frustrations of standing around in one spot for hours and not getting claim on some HNM. I liked a lot of the people there, but the entire experience didn't gel for me. I know lots of people get off on killing the biggest and baddest monsters in the game, reaping their rewards, but I'm not one of them.

The moment of true freedom and enlightenment is when you realize it's okay if you don't enjoy those things. Nobody will hold it against you (although they may shake their heads in wonder). Vana'diel is a big world, and there is always something else to do.
