I just got a Wii today from my family, (its the only thing i really asked for, and working at a video game store i know that it is near impossible to get one) and my whole house has a decent wireless connection, but my Wii just can't seem to hop on it.

My living room is the only room with enough space to have the Wii, and while it does have the weakest connection to the internet, it still has a good one.

I guess, what i'm asking is, if anyone knows a way to force the Wii to pick up the signal better?

You need to buy a special adapter to make it wired, and i have a perfectly good connection so i'd rather not spend my not so hard earned money.

You can buy a wifi dongle for the DS and the Wii will be able to connect through it.

Would i actually need to use a DS to get it to work or anything? I'd rather buy an adapter than a DS and whatever the hell a dongle is.

imma have to get that wired thing then. i dont run wireless for my consoles.

No, the dongle is just a wireless access point; it basically just creates a small wireless network from your computer. It was designed for the DS, but you can use it for the Wii if you can't connect to your router.

Any particular reason why?

Bah, just read up on that dongle thing, and there is no mac compatibility to it, and the only PCs i have are strictly work releated. Thanks for the idea though.

i used too run wireless back when i used to play socom on ps2 and it never worked right with it. only way i could get it to run properly is wired. so i have no use for wireless again.

The Wii works best on channels 1 and 11. See what channel your wireless network is broadcasting, if it's anything other than one of those, change it to one of those. Should help.

If you have a big house or an old house like I do, a N router might be a better choice. When I first installed our network with a G router at home my mom and I had issues going to certain places in the house (dead spots). The N router made it much better

Damn lead paint?

:: puts Romper in a pokeball :: no. Not sure what it is.

Eh might have just been a weak router then.

Our house is old and a big and a normal G router wasnt cutting it. We had dead spots so I got a N router. So much better.

So i've finally fixed my wireless router after it was giving me trouble, and i tried it on channel 1, and got maybe 3% through the system update before i got an error code. I figured out what the error code was, but it didn't really help. I'm trying it now on channel 11 and it doesn't seem to be fairing any better.

Am i just pretty much boned in this department?
