Wiki ain't Cuttin it

Hi guys ^^

This may sound like an odd question comin from an old-timer, but where's a good place to go for gear info and other gaming tips? With all the recent additions, I'm wondering what all really is out there to be had.

I find that on ffxiclopedia, I tend to just browse aimlessly and occasionally run across good info, but nothin's ever concrete.

As always, any info is greatly appreciated.

Wiki is great if you're looking for...oh my god what is this god awful noise playing in the background?! Oh, awesome, a video about some stupid shit I don't care about!

But for real, I typically stick to BG and, as odd as it sounds, the ffxiah job forums. The level of retardedness is higher than the norm there, but you can find some good info sprinkled in amidst the hurdurrrr.

Wiki's great for lookin up quest and mission info, but when it comes to lookin up gear, it's sort of like being cast adrift upon an infinite sea of info.

I personally have no trouble finding information regarding equipment.
But that's also because I tend to make equipment plans that require looking through that sea of information to determine what I want to use, regarding what's best for my situation. ^^;

I generally use FFXIAH's item power search by gear slot and job to hunt down what options are available. Works pretty well most of the time.

i agree very much with the two posts above me!

Ironically the item search for x item usually has some poster or two that knows their job post some valuable info about it ie ninetails, karbuncle, etc.

BG, i consider the grand daddy mine of data but takes some time to look through threads

Problem I have with Wiki is the last person to edit facts on it could have been the janitor having a laugh, I still recall people on a Linkshell I was on once screaming that a mission had to be done this way cause it said so on wiki, problem is it was wrong lol.

Wiki is great but it needs a power search option where you can limit by job and level range. Right now, all items are lumped together by slot, which is fine if you want to see EVERY body armor out there, but sucks when you're trying to see if there's a viable upgrade to your current set.
