Was originally gonna post this in the Vang skill/gear thread, but it's a derailment of the OP, so I'm making a new post for it.

And I', certain there will be flamage at some point, so it goes here instead of general population.

2x Hawker's Knife+1 - 6mill
Eurytos' Bow + Hellfire +1 - 7mill and 4mill respectively
Peacock Charm - 15mill
Strider Boots for pulling and War Boots+1 for attacking - 12mill and 1mill
Dusk Trousers (+1) - 2.5mill (5mill)
Amemit Mantle+1 - 1.2 mill
2x Behemoth Ring (+1) - 6mill (who knows?)

Am I going to be considered a gimp because I will most likley never have the above items?

Out of the list above, the only +1's I am gonna consider are the War Boots and the Dusk Trousers (NQ consideration). And *maybe* the Amemit +1.

I consider most of those things listed gaudy rich-man's gear that aren't necessary. Nice, granted, but not feasable for me. But if not having them means either of the following, I will cease wasting my money on Ranger right now (and probably quit the game because no other job appeals to me enough to start from scratch):

Miss a slug shot/sidewinder.
Miss more than 2-3 ranged attacks per battle.

From my party Friday night (which was excellent, thank you guys), I missed 1 slug shot at greater than 150%TP (223TP with food on, I still don't really understand how/why it missed other than random fluke) and was averaging 1-2 missed ranged attacks per battle, often times not missing any.

I considered that acceptable, which is to say, better or equal to any Ranger I've ever partied with.

So, again, at end game, am I not going to be able to perform at my desired skillset without all those items?

Also, just a simple question here becuase I don't know, are there really situations at end game where the Longbow (E.Bow) is demanded over Crossbow or Gun? If so, how/why?

And I might as well ask this too, when are the Strider Boots necessary for pulls outside of skink-family mobs?

hey dude, dont quit, lol. if ya have fun, who cares. im a gear freak but what can i say?

but anyways it depends on what you fight as to how good you will do. ;)

You missed that Slugshot because the Pug had "Water Shield" up (Evasion up), at which point the rest of the party was missing like crazy.

You were one of the best RNGs I've ever partied with  I have never seen any RNG that actually positions himself ready for the next pull when the fight is about to end.

Just get the NQ version of those items, besides the Strider Boots, Peacock Charm, and Eurytos Bow. If you were to get any of the luxury items, I would save up for the Eurytos Bow. It is soooo sweet. @_@

In what aspect? PPA Sidewinders? I partied with a guy that had it. His normal shots were doing 3-6 more than my War Bow, and my gun was outdamaging it by 5-8. Can't remember what his Sidewinder's looked like unfortunately. After seeing it in action, I was severely unimpressed =\

Those are just luxury items bro, Just don't go cheap on the Items you NEED to have.

Well, I would only use a Hellfire (or a Hellfire +1 If I can afford it) for every event I do. If I had a Eurytos bow, I'd probably use it with some Demons, but I'm certainly not gonna break my neck over something i wouldn't really use. Like Reality, one of the best NA Rangers in Quetzalcoatl, once told me, when it comes to equipment just ask yourself because only you know what suits your playing style.

Kiting HNM, but I would just macro in Crimson cuisses if I could get them.

I know Endgame rangers that do not have that shit, Hawker knives, yes great idea, +1? Gaudy pieces to show of your gil. Same with most of that shit, strider boots and PCC are good and all, but again those are bragging pieces, End game Rangers I know do not want PCC just because they hit more then enough as it is, screw the 15 mil for relatively little Ranged ACC.

Granted your job is expensive but those pieces are mainly for show.

Since Sidewinder is Agi-dependent, keep your Agi up to par and having it connect won't be a problem.

I wish guillotine was str dependent

like ppl are saying, most of that stuff is nothing but bragging rights.
of the few things that would actually serve a rng some purpose..

of that list theres 2 that make sense, ill list em 1st.

ammemit +1, as endgame gear goes this one really kinda needed if you want to max your damage potential. every bit of rng attk + str piled on helps alot on gods/hnms

dusks are a must for some things imho, but Why would Anyone get the hqs? thyre akin to getting winged boots+1, fricken stupidly priced for an extra def, lol. (oh and one more rng accy, woots)

as for the rest....
eury is great until lv 69 (obow)70(mastercaster), then it sits in storage or becomes a bazaar showpiece.

hellfire+1 also good, and prolly worth the cost, but only if you like guns.

PCC: biggest joke for a rng, keep the 5 attk and save the 15 mil on 5 extra accy.

striders are a tad overpriced for what you get. you more or less pay what are they now 9mil...for a macro swap.

hawker+1's...overpriced But Fair at 1mil. (the old steady sales price)
now ppl are just gettin greedy, dragons blood hasnt skyrocked, and archers are 50k. for 6 mil you get +2 agi & +2 accy. almost as bad as a PCC @ 15mil for accy+5.

behemoth rings would be very good to have, or dragon ring +1's, but until someone decides to make the things its more or less moot. hard to say if theyll be worth the cost though, since the only ones on the server are simply being bought then resold for more later.

point being, with a few exceptions, having all that stuff in hq form doesnt make you gimp. having it simply means you are likely in dire need of sunlight and prolly some brisk cardiovascular exercise. its all a matter of perspective no?

Are you kidding me? Dragon blood has not skyrocked? A dragon heart now sells for 1,2 millions when it used to be 800K. Dragon blood now is almost 300K, if it has not passed the mark this week-end! Do you know now that every NQ Hawker's knife is a net lost of 150K for the crafter? And you HQ it maybe 1/10?

Excuse me but if I'm making an Hawker's knife +1, it will sell for 2 millions, not one gil less. I knew this would happen, material prices go up and crafters get pointed at....

vill, why im dual-wielding Bugards of course.

veresko, didnt know hawkers took a dragons heart in addition to the blood, my mistake. (good-god jim, im a woodworker, not an alchemist.)
but i dont blame the crafters, and im not likely to, i know how long taking a craft up is, effort and time involved.
the only exception is cooferin, that ass is just greedy.

i aggree on this one. Why on earth would you pay that much, for a statistical trade.
PCC isnt for rangers, other than to be a showpiece. Its more for Melee acc than for ranged acc.

It doesn't... vers was stating the price of dragons heart as one heart can be synthed into 4 dragon blood. The cost to make one archers is roughly 350k now.. (a little more actually). The sell-back price is 175k and dropping again (that's a 175k loss per synth)..

Success rate is roughly 1 in 10 since the cap is so high.. 3.5million for ingredients minus 1.575 for selling back 9 hawkers minus 2million for selling the hq = 75k profit. = totally not worth it. Hence why i see last sale was bumped another million by some random person (3mil now)..

Actually making it worth it if people are willing to pay 3mil.

Silf.
