Windows bumps Unix as top server OS

Just shows the kind of leaps forward that Microsoft has been taking with Windows. Businesses would not switch to Windows Servers unless they felt certain they would be more secure and stable than the competition.

Bill Gates stepping down from his position as CEO and resuming his old COO duties was a brilliant decision.

I don't know if this is so much a nod to windows as it is a testament to how much of the market share that Linux has taken from Unix.

Is there a possibility that the word "server" is being used here a bit loosely?

unlikely. Anything that feeds data could be a considered a server, and thus included in this report. My guess is, however, that these are 'computers' designed with the specific intent to be servers.

hehe, and here I was wasting all this time studying linux.

I should just stick with what I know.

Nah, Linux is awesome. I had an older computer I wasn't using so I decided to screw around with Linux. I downloaded the .isos from the red hat web site (10 cents for the 2 blank cds), bought a new power supply for $60 and a 2nd network card for $20. For a total cost $80.10 and about 3 hours of my time I now have a firewall/file server/mail server for my office.
