I cant seem to play FFXI for more than 5 min at a time, i keep getting an error report from windows and it shuts the game down.

If anyone has had this problem before i could realy use some advice. I have restarted computer multiple times and have made sure i have fully updated windows XP. Niether the SE website nor Windows website have anything to say about the topic.

Thanks in advance

I was having the exact same problem and nothing would help. I just did a complete system restore but now I cant install FFXI so dont do that <.<'

for anyone to be able to help, we need more info. what the error msg says and such

Thats the major problem it dosent tell me what the error is it simply says an error has occured and gives me the option to send windows a report on the error so they can patch the system on a later update.

I also could not find a button anywhere for more details on the actual problem. the windows site has a massive list as to what could cause the problem none of which seems FFXI related.

Also thanks Xemnas i was just about to do that im glad i didnt try it now.

in the top left of the window, it should tell you what .exe program caused the error.

And you didnt change anything or install anything just out of the blue it started crashing one day?

Assuming you're using XP, go to Control Panels->Admin Tools->EVent Viewer and look for red 'x's in the application section that match the time ffxi crashed. There should be some good info there.

Also, have you tried the classic error checking and defragging of your main drive?

dont listen to kire/blazn
the easiest way to go about defragging by using the gui is double clicking "my computer" > right click the main hard drive > go to properties > click the "tools"
tab > then click the button that says "defragment"

OR

click "start" > "all programs" > "accessories" > "system tools" > "disk defragmenter"

those are the two easier ways for you to do it.
