Well my virus scanner either removed this file or it was curropted. Now after the window logos i see a message saying this file is missing and that i can repair it.SO i put in the cd and clicked R for repair and then i saw this command prompt thing.Tried different commands but no luck.Anyone know if i can fix this without reinstalling the windows??

If its just a couple files you can use windows repair console and copy them over manually from a windows disc. I did that for a couple months while nursing a dying hard drive along that kept corrupting files.

Sucks cuz i asked to reboot when i lvled.THey probably think i bounced on purpose lol

you'll have to

A. Go into Dos, locate folder and delete, then Reinstall XP

or

B. Just reinstall XP -Fresh Install-, because it's not going anywhere .. those files will just stay

Yeah if u do a full restart you got to instal everything again POL any games you got any extra software like windows word etc but should not take long. When put in cd just choice the quick version not a fulll wipe and reinstal.

No you don't, that's only if you reformat the disk. Windows can be re-installed while keeping your other files in tact. If it's your HDD that corrupted the file though, you may need to reformat to prevent it from happening again.

oh lord i remember all those computer problems haha

Ok here is my way of dooing it. This is the most straightforward way of repairing files, plug 3 HDDs into a tower. Two are good one are bad. Since you can not copy and paste windows files in use you need boot off your master HDD, and copy the files from the second good HDD and paste em into the bad one. Granted this method requires alot of hardware so be warned.

That is all.

Oh and usually if my HDD messes up I'll reinstall windows in the default directory. You have to reinstall everything but all your other files are saved =X
