Windows Updates and their Auto Reboot

Am I the only one who gets incredibly pissed off when they wake up and find their PC in the "select a user" screen? Click my name and then see I got some security update? By all means, give the me security update, doesn't mean I am happy with all my programs getting closed without me saving. Just give me a popup that says, "you need to reboot." Then if I was asleep, I can save my stuff and then reboot the PC.

Incredibly annoying, and such a pointless and easy to fix problem.

Perhaps if there were an operating system that didn't have its applications and services so closely tied to the kernel...

owait.

Or, you know, you could just turn off automatic updates.

Or do you want Microsoft to do it for you?

Yep set it so you can do this or set it so it will look for updates at a time that you are at the computer so you can prepare for them.

Yeah turn that shit off.

I turned auto-update off. I haven't restarted my comp in close to 3 months now. I just put it in low-power mode by holding down the SHIFT-key on the shutdown screeny. Better then sleep mode, imo. And doesn't take the same time to start up as if it were powered off, and all of your programs will still be open.
