I need help getting the PS2 hooked up on my wireless router. Obviously I can't buy a card like I can for a laptop. What do I need to buy to get my ps2 to recieve my wireless network, hence play in a different room. What do you use?

And so no one complains about it being crappy, I have one and I do enjoy it. There are random times where the bandwith is sucked up by my PS2 and PC both playing FFXI, but other than that, it's really good. I use it to play Halo2 online with as well, and I have very few complaints. A good buy.

...Wow, did that just sound like I copied and Pasted it from a Consumer's Comment thing..?

I have a Netgear wireless router, just wondering if it would work with this

What a fucking ordeal, I cannot get this wireless router to work and Ive been at it for 2 goddamn hours. SecureEasySetup my ass

Edit: Victory! Alright im gonna go setup my game adapter. Thanks for the help Likkwid

yo nitram I have a little bit of info. I remember seeing that there was a device sold that plugged into the network adapter of a ps2 or a xbox and that then received the wireless signal from your router. I am thinking it was made by D-link. However I am not sure it was a long while ago, and I can not look up much info atm while I am at work.

Thanks ghal but I already purchased the linksys game adapter, heres my current problem:

It doesn't work!!!1!one!1!1

When trying to connect while in playonline, ya know when its "Initializing via ethernet" it doesnt work, does the signal have to be really good for it to conect? I took out my PSP and tested the signal strength and its about 60%. With some creativity I could bump it to 90% but Id have my gameadapter out in the middle of my hallway. I hope I missed something.

I figured I'd buy the Linksys router and adapter, both wireless-G of course. So aperently the Linksys router has a hard time working with DSL so after a long time of frustration trying to get it working I traded it for the Belkin version. Word for the wise the belkin is smaller and has a better range (in my house at least), and the thing worked like it should the first time.

Now the Linsys game adapter wont recieve the signal from the belkin router, so I need to find a different brand for he adapter.

I can't believe anyone has used a wireless network to get online with their PS2! I got the belkin game adapter and it does the same thing the Linksys did, nothing!

I need to know Exactly what gam adapter people use. Maybe the technology I'm using has gone past the stuff from when the PS2 went online.

I bought the same game adapter and it don't work :(

Are you using DSL or Cable?

I'm useing a cable modem, but that shouldnt matter I just picked up the box it says it works for Cable/DSL modems. You prolly dont have it configured right with your wireless router. When I first got it I thought I could plug it in and it would pick up mine. You should try to call up their tech support, its free and 24/7 thats what I did and it only took like 10min~.

Edit: Your going to have to have a ethernet cord going from a PC -> Wireless router too use the disc that came with it. You'll need to have the name of your wireless network its Cass Sensitive so make sure its right and your gonna need the Password/Key to access the network. Hope that helped some~

Sometimes obvious things are overlooked. Make sure the router and game adapter are on the same channel. Turn wireless security off to rule that out as the cause of the problem.

If you are still trying to get the adapter to work try clicking here ---> http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Sate...826619&pagename=Linksys/Common/VisitorWrapper

Then click on the PDF for User Guide, and follow the instructions for Chapter 5. (you will need to scroll down through the pages). Set it up so that it is configured to play games accross the internet ifit is not already.

Essentially what you are using is actually a wireless ethernet Bridge, Bridges are a little more complex than regular adaptors in that they have a lot more abilities and hence settings. For example if you wanted to you could further split the network from the Bridge itself into another router with the proper settings. My guess is that the thing is not configured for what you need right out of the box.

I Currently use a Linksys Router and Bridge to run a connection to my PS2 and I had to reconfig mine when I first got it.

Also if you are just super frustrated and completely want to give up you could buy two adapters and make it work.

You really already have better equipment than this but these would give you a "plug it in and it works solution". I would suggest calling customer service and making them help you get the config right with what you have.

Edit: I should note you will also need a usb cable to connect the two different style usb ports.

Hey, not to confuse the issue, but has anyone had luck with, say, a second-hand wireless bridge that's lacking documentation? I scored a Cisco wireless bridge (for free) a while back and haven't used it yet, but was thinking of trying to get my PS2 working through it. A general support forum for wireless networking might be a better place for the question, I know, but since it came up here...

For the record, too, I've been playing wirelessly on my laptop for several months now and haven't had any problems. If anything, it's been MORE reliable. Only once did I seem to have a lag problem where I was running really fast. I was all OMG HAX and wanted to turn myself in, but realized that would be counter-productive.

Another thought: If your router doesn't have DHCP enabled, either enable it, or go into network setup on your ps2 and set gateway to the router's ip (usually 192.168.1.1) and set your ps2's ip to 192.168.1.X (x=somthing other than 1)

I just read over all your suggestions, and while as great as they are, I've done it all. I just cannot get it to work, I've given up. I'm just gonna run a very long cord under our rugs everytime I wanna play. Fortunatly a friend of mine runs wire in buildings and cut me off a 100ft cord :)
