Wolf Whistles: Flattery or Sexist Assholish Vocalized?

I don't see it as degrading. I don't see it as empowering, either. Guys who do that are just kinda meh. Sometimes I laugh at them.

I understand what you mean, but on the inside I rather respond with a punch in the face instead of a laugh =P.

I haven't heard anyone in Sweden wolf whistle for years, nor do I do it myself. Sure, I can do it under my breath if I find someone hot, but I would never do it loudly.

Its kind of different down here in F to the L .... lol thats bad.

Since I'm close to a beach... its common to find women in swim suits. Thats fine and cool when you're at the beach, laying on the sand or swimming. However where I work is 50 miles from the beach and women still come in with this attire. I have no problems with it and appearently neither do the rest of the men or even customers when they walk in. They don't whistle but... the customers sure as hell stop in their tracks with their jaws to the ground, drooling obssessively. Women tend to notice that shit, but when you come in half naked... ya... expect the worst of men to come out.

I think you're sexy.

AND JESUS GIRL YOU GOT SOME FRIES TO GO WITH THAT SHAKE? *WHISTLE*

lol.

lol Rawr.

I really do think wolf whistles are harmless. Definitely not the classiest way to express attraction but meh.

Prince has a subconcious (or concious, speak up if you may) hatred for straight men.

Wolf whistles 90% of the time are meant as a "Hey look at me! Your hot and if you look that means you know I exist!"

Of course it can be degrading, but usually not.

I look at the eyes, if they look and squeek by a smile i might pursue, but the eyes right back down to the feet = no bueno in my books, either no self-esteem or too shy.

Then you get the ones that just plain ignore you.

And also, yardwork/housework attire + wet hair is sexy anyday for just about any man I know.

Finally (I think), I have a feeling woman take offense to it because they see it as just another guy wanting in their pants. Sure, its true in alot of cases, but when you get that smile from the one genuine nice guy on the street, for the love of god dont pull out the mace please. :nono::nono:

I find it to be under the same rule as most flirtation falls under.

If person A finds person B desirable, then it is flattering/wanted/ego building/whatever.

If person A finds person B undesirable, then it is horrible and unacceptable.

If i whistle at a girl/woman it's only ment as in the fact that I think she's out of my league and I probably wouldnt have a chance in hell with her.

If I did actually get lucky enough to score or even have a decent time with such a woman, then I would totally be 'the man'.

But in all seriousness. When I do whistle, its not loud enough for the woman in question to hear, or its just when they're out of sight.

*sigh* Unfortunately im a pretty quiet guy. I love beautiful women and all, but I get all nervous and quiet around them when up close. ._.

I don't know what it is, maybe just a confidence issue. Compiled with the fact that I was raised to be polite to people. I dont know. ._.

I hear that man. As much as I explained the whistle aspect, I havent done it in years. Im just like that too lol.

If a hot girl walks by I either A) Say "Oh my god.." just loud enough for her to hear or B) Look, and when she looks back I get shy and look away.

:3

I think it depends on the intent. I was walking my dogs and some group of little teenage shits started yelling out "NICE TITTS, NICE TITTS" and whistling.... I wanted to call back "I don't know why you're so enamored with my titts as you see them everyday being the bunch of pussies you are" but I didn't, I justt ground my teeth and stormed off. It's the objectifying behind the remark/call that's so demeaning - someone with low self esteem (ie me) usually takes this as being made fun of. I would much rather have a guy say "Hey, you look really hot/good today" than start shouting and hooting. I would take it as a real compliment and not an insult.

But...hey, boys will be boys I guess.

Sabs has nice tits? >_>;; Pics or GTFO!

:P Just playing Sabs. You're a cutie, can't argue with that.

Though, it has been a while since you've dropped a line in the RL Picture thread. I do kinda wonder what the Sabs looks like lately. :x

Did you mean me? I posted about the out of bed thing, and the OP.

Both Zyn and I are smoking hot anyways

Hell to the muthafuckin yeah! (can i get piccys?) But again, in all seriousness, 90% of guys will whistle and cat call when the woman is smoking hot. A decent or semi-attractive woman, she may get a look or stare, but only the smokin hot ones are worthy of the wind and effort LOL

Ok for me a whistle has always felt like an objectification of me AND the sum of me equals more than how I look.

True.

But..

We're just random guys who dont know you. If they're whistling they really dont care how nice a person you are, they just want to tell you that they think you're hot.

Seriously tho.. women need to stop complaining about it. (While I dont do it) its a compliment. Smile and think "someone thinks im sexy today"

If a woman whistles at a man, what do we do? Puff the chest and keep walking. "Haha, crazy chick wants me, alllllright~ " Puts a hop in my step I tell you what.

To be fair, I looked back and smiled!

It was only after I thought "...hey waitaminute.."

Exactly! That happened to me not too long ago up on campus, it just made my day :D

I've personally never whisteled at a girl. I'm more of a straight forward person and go more for the "Wow, you look fantastic!" or the one that usually gets strange looks "That's a great outfit on you." while mentally adding (It would look better on my floor) but y'know, I'm still a guy regardless of how my friends see me :P

I had one friend whistle at a girl while we were out and about, out of sheer reaction I punched him in the gut... a little too hard. While he was re-learning how to breathe I said something along the lines of, "What my inept friend was trying to say is he thinks you're gorgeous." she gave us a dazzling grin and went about her merry little way.

Sabs is truly beautiful, in every way. :nyam:

I never cat call, but I will do the aforementioned "Hellloooooooo Nurse." under my breath when I see a girl I'm extremely attracted to. It's just a reflex at this point. Which I'm thankful my significant others have all been the type to check what I'm looking at and comment themselves first. I really enjoy window shopping regardless of my relationship status. I would never go in and shop unless I was in the market, but it never hurts to know what's in fashion now :spiteful:

I think that many women need to get rid of that feminist attitude that any advance of a man is only a ploy to put them in their place. I'm a very old fashioned guy, I hold doors and things like that even for complete strangers. I get some spiteful looks when I grab the door for some women. Also, any comment like "wow you look beautiful today" usually gets rebutted with some wisecrack about how I'm just trying to get in their pants. Compliments that should be harmless are met with very defensive attitudes. Obviously saying "nice tits" is rude, but calling a girl hot or saying she's beautiful shouldn't be met with hostility unless it's 100% obvious sarcasm.
