Anyone unwilling to perform to the best of their abilities and therefor forces others to lower their impact is an unneccesary component to any party.
If people don't want to do a lvl 3 SC because they have had luck with others and are unwilling to try something different, then they should just grab a crafting skill-up list and spend their time leveling that.
XP, being the abreviation for experience points, should indicate gained experience. Therefor, wouldn't it make sense to want to experience something new from time to time while gathering said points?
Just seems that people hang to some things while leveling like a crutch. If someone has an idea that could possibly benefit everyone, give it a shot, don't just assume they are being uppity for suggesting something to possibly improve performance.
Wow... your a jerk, and you have no clue what your talking about. /cheer.
the only person unwilling to perform was the pld, who made unreasonable stipulations to joining the pt. The fact was there wasn't someone they could invite to fit his request, they were not unwilling to try though. Furthermore there are many situations where level 2 is still stronger, depending on the weakness of the monster you are attacking.
ex. In Boyada you can fight flies and crabs at the lvl range they are talking about. Often times in a pt with thf and rng if a fly is pulled it is better to do Side/slug > DE as the damage from the two weapon skills alone will take out 2/3s or more of the flies total HP. In contrast when a crab is pulled they would do Arching > Shark because Thunder is a better burst and Slug/Side > DE is not as impressive on crabs.
Your right, XP does stand for experiance points... and those who have accumulated them have experiance in these matters and realize that not everything is black and white, and that it is best to be flexable. Bj having already leveled one character to 75 knows this... In contrast, the paladin was being uppity and limiting the parties ability to level because he was unwilling to listen to what others said, which is that they can be an effective party without a Level three SC. If anyone was gimping the group it would have been him, he was holding onto his standard of Lightness chains and unwilling to try something a little different which would have been as sucessful.
As fire said he was probably intended to level in gustav, but there are many other places you can level effectivly at in that level range. Likewise increasing the level gap, as Fire pointed out, would have greatly decreased the effectiveness of the pt when exping...
A DRK or THF could have made a Lightness chain, but he demanded a monk.... They already had a darkness chain... and if he doesn't like thf or drk they could have invited someone to make a fragmentation chain with and had the war end it for Lightness. They had many options for their L3 chain... and like it was stated early L2 chains are sometimes more effective.
Like someone else said this guy should just get a static if he is unwilling to do his "best" with new job combos, which would fall under your "trying new things to improve the party"... There are a few things every party needs... they all need a tank, they all need someone to heal and someone to back up heal. Refreshers are nice.... and damage in crucial. A level 3 skill chain is not... there are many ways to gain exp in this game, to limit yourself based on a job and a skill chain is simply retarded, espeacially when there are many valid alternatives out there.
