I've been toying with this idea over the last 5-6 months. had originally dropped outta college in Dec. '06, because the program I had decided to persue wasn't what I had expected. Was going for a double degree in Fashion Design and Marketing.

Well, over the past few days, my old admissions advisor has called bugging me about where the hell i ran off to. Talked for a bit and explained the situation. She gave me the run down of the programs that they still offered, and after a long talk with my boyfriend, and my parents making it clear they wanted to be no part of assisting me this time around. (can't really blame sinc ei just dropped out last time.) I am going to take Nate's and a few close friend's of mines advice, and go back for Graphic Design.

I have an appointment today to get registered and hopefully start working towards some grants/loans etc. I'm really excited! ^^ I'm just hoping this major is what I'm expecting. And well mostly hoping I get into the program. I gotta throw together a portfolio of my work, T.T;.. hope they don't mind that it's mostly FFXI sig's. XD

Alright, I'm done rambling. ^.^ Wish my luck, guys!
 
Thats great Iso! Can never go wrong when going back to school. I hope its everything you are looking for. Stick with it and you'll be rewarded for your hard work ^^
 
I think you'll do fine! I would suggest throwing a few things more than FFXI into the mix. If you enjoy it, you should have no problem getting something together with a few hours investment ^_^;!

Still, the worst thing you'll have to deal with is GeneralEd requirements. School is fun (content if you like your major and the college friends), so enjoy it =).
 
Yeah i dug up a couple nonffxi wallpapers to throw into the portfolio. XD
last time i was there i got about 1/2 my gened's done, so only thing I have to suffer thru is Math, and I enjoy English!

Maybe make a couple of logos or something. I doubt the portfolio will be a HUGE impact on your entry to any college program, but it could show some flexibility. Especially if you've got much talent in doing Vector stuff ^_^;
 
Go you! I actually did the same thing, but Ive been out for over a year after doing 5 semesters.

Heading back in like 2 weeks. So excited to cease to degredation of my brain cells. ^^ Good luck!
 
Going back to skool = woot? Well personally I hated skool, but if you enjoy it, more power to ya I guess. That's cool that you're doing something you're excited about at least, congrats. I'd wish you good luck, but then I might lose some of mine. That's how these things work you know.

With as crazy as you get with those signatures,I would love to see some of your classwork, lol.

Arc is right, try a quick/fluid of some commerical logos or something to show them some more facets of your incredible abilities. Those abstract WP you did should be convincing for them enough hon, but you can never be too prepared! I'm so happy for you!

Thanks for the support guys! ^.^ Now the hard part, convincing the folks to cosign on my loan. XD If that works out then I start March 24th!
 
Graphic design would be super fun! I was tempted to head in that direction, but I'm not creative enough for it so I'm an anthropology major instead. XD Good luck, I'm sure you won't need it though!
 
Nice, college can open a lot of shut doors for your future. I'm pretty shocked an advisor called you out of the blue after so much time had past, don't find many caring advisors anymore.

My advisor is amazing. She always was. Made sure that I understood everything first time around, and such, very up front. And today when we ran into some probs she gave me her cell and home numbers just incase i needed to ask questions about the loans i am applying for.

That's what I like so much about AIU. They actually make the effort to show students they give a shit about their well being at school, and build people up to succeed. Most colleges it seems just want your money and to get you the fuck out of there, degree in hand or not, at least that was my experience with the Art Institute.

I'm really excited over all. I was stressing talking to my parents about cosigning for my loans for the time being, (til i could fix some past credit booboo's and such), but they didn't say no! Now I just gotta get them to say yes to cosigning and I'm ready to go.
 
i hope it works out for you iso, i'm in college now I hate it but it's just another job to take care of-_-;
 
Good luck with school again Iso, I know you'll do well, you have the talent and will to show your skills well. Having this to showcase your talents again will reward you greatly in many ways indeed. :)

More news: Got a job today (finally!), parttime, fits perfectly with my schedule that i have tentatively setup for school! :3 It's a good day!
