This is the first composite I've done. I did two sketches and matched the two together (see below). That is supposed to be a Scorpion Harness of course. ^^

It was a composite of these 2 sketches:

OK, thread necromancy ftw but... no need to start a new thread.

I wasn't completely happy with the sketch above so one sleepless night after watching Ying Xiong (aka as Jet Li's Hero), I made a new sketch based on the old one, and without the Scorp Harness (which I rarely use anyway).

Pencil sketch:

Haven't decided to keep her right ear hidden or not. Not sure where I'll go from here, if I just use this as a portrait, or attach it to a body somehow. ^^

The coloring is very nice and subtle. However the line thickness needs to be varied to get a better feel for it. Right now, other than the small amount of highlights and shading in the picture, it looks flat and lifeless. Lips, jawline, and the nose are key places to thin/thicken the line. The nose especially. Keep the lines on the side to give the nose a form, but the tip of the nose should be thinned a bit. You might also want to decrease the visibility of the nostrils.
I like the fact that you're going for a realistic view, but remember this about drawing. Sometimes you can't dupilcate the realism, so you need to give the illusion of realism. That is key espcially to an animated look. Check out the artwork of Katzura Masakazu for some examples.

One thing to consider though is that everything from here will be downsized. That is also why some highlight appear exaggerated. If you take a look at my avatar you can see that the end result may differ from what my work in progress is like. The coloring test was completed within 5-10 minutes. When I got an idea of scale, I will perform proper coloring.

While I'm going for more realistic features, I want to keep an "anime" feel to the end result. Also I'm not trying to be someone else in my "style" so I'm doing this the trial and error way, to find something I feel comfortable with. I haven't started sketching a body yet, looking for that great pose, but Monk is hard. Samurai would've been so much easier, with a GKT!

The pictures in your OP look like they are going to shoot lazers out of their eyes at me

cool work though
