The world map was released in the most recent Famitsu release:

It gives me an adrenalin rush. Pretty epic.

So epic that it breaks the screen, whoops. I guess it shows that quality of a game > quantity of it's players. (FF>WoW).

Like most folks, I'm assuming that the fourth city on the map is our Jeuno-equivalent.

I already told you guys about it here D:

There's an interactive version of it on the Japanese version of the site, but as said in the referenced post, I can't read a word of it. I was hoping one of you might do us all the service of seeing if there's anything worth knowing.

Are you signed up for the updates of the US site? Because this map was released on that earlier this week, as well as descriptions of some of the cities. I believe the Bastok equivalent is the only one to not be listed yet, as the representing flag colors and city descriptions currently listed could describe Windurst, San'doria, and Jeuno pretty accurately.

EDIT: Little more speculation on my part~
Ul'dah = Jeuno. It's described as being a hub for trading for all nations, entertainment, etc. Large citadel that is a deterrent to attacks. Emblem is relatively neutral colors, black with yellow and a symbol for trade.

Limsa Lominsa = San' Doria. Described as having a ruler similar to San'Doria's government system of a king, castle-esque scenery, etc. Emblem is red with a viking like symbol on it.

Gridania = Windurst. Has trees. Enough said? Very earth based, one with the trees and magical type affluence. Emblem is yellow/green.

The bastok one looks so pretty from the outside, but now that I've seen screens from inside it I might go for the Windurst one again. In case you were speaking to me, no I haven't signed up for updates. I just check in every now and then, which is fine w/ me.

No I was more just generalizing the question to the OP and posters. It's pretty useful to get the emails as soon as they update it :) And it seemed to have some of the answers to the questions that wer being inquired about through out the post itself.

Sorry didn't see that thread at all.

I didn't sign up for updates for the site, I just check with everyone here and twice a day at ffxivcore.com. I knew they were released yesterday but didn't see it posted.

Is it wrong to say the feel of the map reminds me a little bit of the fundamentals of dungeons and dragons? The map looks retro, which is great. It's fun to speculate.

Sorry didn't see that thread at all.

It's np, I was wondering why that thread wasn't getting any attention. I guess it's because the title was a little vague and I accidentally put it in the XI forum instead of the XIV.

Limsa Lominsa is more like Bastok in it's feel and design than Sandy (even the music is very Bastokan in feel... and free of bagpipes) - the flag looks similar in colour but it's actually (if I remember correctly) a kind of Viking-ship. I believe the alpha playable area essentially is that bottom left landmass... certainly there are lots of tunnels where you're unable to proceed further. Flipping hate this stupid Ezorean alphabet with regional text overlays thing they've got going on tho on all the maps.

Anyone else find it LOL that Bastok is the only one that didn't get represented again in this map? Limsa Lominsa looks like it is on an island, that makes it seem like it will be more difficult to get to, or in a beginners case from.

Also, what is that city/nation to the East of Gridania? Will it be sort of the lost city like Norg or Kazham was i wonder?
