World Pass - How does it work?

[Foofighter]

My brother is buying FFXI and I would like to get him on this server. Can someone please tell me how a world pass works. I will probably buy one but wouldn't mind some insight first.
thanks

You buy one and you get a number, code if you will, normal world passes have several available uses of the code/codes, gold world passes have one, but you get special features with the gold world pass, features I have NO idea how to activate as of yet, but I'll find out, anyway, your brother creates the character, types in the world name "Quetzalcoatl" no speech marks =/ and then the code, then can select the country.
