This question has been bugging me a lot recently since One Piece has now aired it's 401st episode in the series. So I've been wondering, what anime or manga series, if given the chance, would you think deserves a world record?

My thoughts:

Anime: Detective Conan: Believe it or not, Detective Conan has gone past the 500 episode mark, with numerous TV specials, 13 movies (Each are released during Golden week in Japan), hell there was even a 2 hour episode for introducing a new character, Haibara Ai, AND a TV special where Edogawa Conan faced off against the legendary thief Lupin the 3rd. Furthermore, the series is pretty much what the Japanese Police and Government bodies are now using to teach children about Crime, and even the G8 summit. How is that NOT a world record???

Manga (Long name incoming): Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo. This series has been running in Weekly Shonen Jump since 1976, that's 33 years of continuous weekly serialization. Not only that, but in three weeks time, the artist for the series, Osamu Akimoto, will be releasing the ONE THOUSAND SIX HUNDREDTH CHAPTER!!!! 1600!!! Need I really say more?

So what are your thoughts? I'm interested.

How many guys a lead female heroine can bring into watch an anime comes across as a question. I would say Sailor Moon. Hell if I know though.

Sounds like piece of shit anime/manga.. and I did like Detective Conan but sometimes you can only reuse shit so much and draw shit on for so long before it's epic crap.. and those have all since long become epic crap :\

Doreamon, I believe, is the has the highest number of TV episodes.

and Golgo 13 is apparently the longest running manga. Its at 148 volumes and increasing. Its been published since 1969 and is still going :o While I have never read any of the manga or watched the earlier anime episodes, I have seen Golgo 13: Queen Bee OAV and it was good :)

Pokemon is on 1200+ episodes.

601 according to wikipedia. This isn't including any of the movies/specials though.

Huh? I coulda swore I just saw a download for an episode the other day that said 1200 D: Guess it lied

Edit: Apparently, not. lol

Technically, Naruto has more episodes than One Piece right now.

The original run went to like 315, right? Then there's 111 Shipuuden episodes. That's 420+

First part of the series is closer to 210 episodes.

Technically, it hasn't been in continued serialization during the 40 years it's run, whereas Kochikame has. Furthermore, Kochikame is nearing 160 volumes, and this was on a weekly basis for the chapters.
