what with all of these 'the dunes suck' topics about, I thought we should hear just why everyone hates the dunes! what's the worst time you've had with a party, or gob train, or bogy spawn etc.
mine:
I was leveling my warrior in the dunes, and we had a pretty good party. we were pulling snippers and rabbits from atop a small cliff-like area. now this was not, by far, the worst party I've had there. just the worst experience. (not as in XP, either. that we were gaining like there was no tomarrow.)
one of the members left and we called in a SAM to join the party. a while into it, I was talking with the monk about how much I hated crabs, and what a pain they were for a monk. I told him that my monk was at level 27, which it was at the time. the sam says "no offence, but I don't belive you have a level 30 monk" I ask him why, and he says that my equip was kinda gimped. it was, so I didn't have a problem with this. I happened to have some of my equipment that I was too lay to make room in the mog house for on me, and I put it in my bazzar and showed him. well, appearently gear is enough to judge low level by, but not high level. -.-;;
this really bugged me, so I disbanded from the party and began for san d'oria now, you have to understand, the reason I did this was not to show off my 'oober hi lvlz,' that wouldn't make sense. he was, being SAM, obviously a higher level than me. what irratated me about it was that he thought I was some lying newb trying to show off and impress people. I can't stand to have people think I'm lying. so I run all the way to sandy, change my job, and return.

-.-;; oooookay.... well, he had seen that I wasn't lying, and thats all that mattered to me. I wasn't a liar anymore.

-.-;; I check the log, and sure enough, he didn't check me. this is going to take some work. I stood there for twenty minutes, healing when I had the mp with my silly RDM subjob. when there's a pause in the battle, I start talking to him again.
"will you just check me so that I can clear my concience?"
and so he does. yay. my concience is clear, I'm no longer a liar. well then he says, in SHOUT mode,
"lvl 27 monk my hero"
-.O;; what was he saying about immaturity? I say that that's not the point, the point is I said I was level 27, and so I was. I was no liar. I was truthful about the whole thing. I tell him my concience is clear, and thats all that matters.
"I didn't do this to show off my 'high level' or to show you up or anything, I did this because I can't stand to have people think that I'm lying."

goddamn little bastard. I say little, because at this point I'm fairly sure he's some twelve year old kid sitting behind that controller/keyboard. I don't say anything about it though.
"no I can't. which should tell you that wasn't the reason. I bear no ill will towards you for not beliving me, I just had to prove myself." and start to log off.
"well think of it as a test for yourself your going to be a tired person if you go around proving yourself to everyone"
and I say "maybe." just before I log.
