Well Since I started the thread I will share my least favorite.

"I am rick james Bitch!" you know its alright when one person has that macro but when you have 3 people in your party using it and 2 people in the pt beside you using it without /p its can get on your nerves, hate to sound dumb but where did it come from? or the macros that have the uneeded <call> in it some people i see have a call for every action they can possible do in the game. sometimes i thank god I havent run into someone with a provoke macro like this tho :

/ja "Provoke"<t>
/p Provoking <t><call83664>
/wait 1
/p Incoming <t> <call84647>
/wait 1
/p ARE YOU GUYS READY?? <call7836547>

I've already addressed the Rick James thing on another thread a while ago on another message board -_- haha but if you don't know, it's from the wonderful Chapelle's Show, hosted by Dave Chapelle. I'm a HUGE fan of his work, but I get sick of people who constantly emphasize that one thing. "I'm Rick James, bitch" was just one thing. Hell, half those people probably don't know who Rick James is, they just think it's "funny" if they stick that in their shield bash macro or whatever.

As for worst/most annoying macros ever... I can only think of a few.

This didn't annoy -me-, as this guy is my best friend in real life. His persona, alter ego, is "The Keefe", and he plays it out on his Galka, Keefe, as if he were the Hulk.

/ja "Boost" <me>
/say Madder Keefe gets, stronger Keefe becomes!
/wait 15
/echo Boost ready!

/ws "Combo" <t>
/say KEEFE SMASH!!!

/ja "Dodge" <me>
/say Puny man can't hurt Keefe!

/ja "Focus" <me>
/say Keefe crush puny man's skull!

And so on, with the /say macros. I watched him play for a moment one night while we were chillin waiting for friends to get off work, and people were SHOUTING at him to stop. Pretty funny, considering he didn't give a flip and when someone finally sent him a /tell asking him to please put them in /party text, he happily complied :) He's a stubborn fellow... but that wasn't annoying to me.

What is annoying to me is like what Daroth said, every macro having a call. I put calls in pulling macros, TP reports, weapon skills, and macros (for my mage jobs) notifying the party of my MP status! I've seen <calls> for stuff like "Hey I'm not the tank and my HP is <hpp>! <call1>"
"Boost ready! <call3>"

Seriously, why didn't SE just put in the sound of someone scratching their fingernails against a chalk board? Anything can be better than those repetitive whistles... *shudder*

Of course, I prefer the gongs and bells :)

You know...I've seen the "Hulking" macros on a couple of people like "I'm getting mad....yiou don't want to see me mad" on a beserk...

I don't know...I'm a very simple macro person unless I can think of something I beleive to be clever or I ENJOY seeing everytime I use it. Seeing magic macros are sometimes very tacky...lol. Some people have the weirdest chants when they cast their spells. I just let my party know what spell I'm casting:

/p Casting "Fire II" on <bt>

It just lets them know I'm using a particular spell. I guess I could write something like:

/p Fire-ry wire-ry on the <bt>.
/p Be engulfed in flames, <bt>, and burn.

I don't know...lol...I don't think I can do those. HOWEVER, I am guilty of trying to be very clever with /emotes combined with job abilities so I know people will catch me on that. But people have liked the ones I've made. I've actually only made two..lol

/slap <t>
/ja "Provoke" <bt>

/emote puts on his tiny taru glasses.
/ja "Sharpshot" <me>

Now the last one has got me a lot of attention..lol..especially with the recent addition of crafting glasses....I'm going to level a craft just so I can get those slick glasses.

When I first started too, I noticed a lot of people had provoke party sayings like "Yo, <t>, your momma was bad in bed yesterday." now..... sure, you say this to a gob or a yag, that sounds SOMEWHAT reasonable...if not still weird... but picture "Yo, Wild Dhamel, your momma was bad in bed...." or "Yo, Mighty Rarab, your momma...." that just doesn't make sense....lol.

To me, any macro is great as long as I find it funny. Although this is sort of stupid, since people can't gauge what I think is funny. However, with my macros, I usually just try to amuse myself, which is what annoys most people. A lot of folks I know in the game make macros for themselves rather than efficiency or usefulness. So, I have seen some annoying macros, but sonce mine are quite annoying, I really can't jusge, haha. Some of mine:

/ja "Mighty Strikes" <me>
/party Cheese and Biscuits! It's Mighty Strikes!!
(got that one from Will Ferrell off an incredibly funny SNL skit)

/ja "Provoke" <t>
/party Cast in the name of God. Ye guilty!
(this one comes from one of the greatest shows of all time, Big O)

These are just some of my macros that I use. I hope no one REALLY hates them in the game, but if any of you happen to party with me and despise them, just tell me and I'll change them, no hassle. ^^

some macros are pretty funny. and most are imformative for your PT. though i hate the /em ones when everyone in the area can see it.
from sidismydaddy as he casts water2:
Sidismydaddy is having wet dreams about Blazer Beetle.

I still don't know who Rick James is, and I guess I just don't care enough to google for it, but the Rick James macro in all kinds of varieties, including shout, is my choice for the most annoying macro ever.

B-listed a few people over that back in the day.

The MOST annoying macro I ever seen mustve pissed off everybody in the immediate area, even the person's own party. The thing was, he(or she) was a WHM, and had cure macros like im sure everybody has. But this persons' macro went along the lines of:

/ma "Cure" <t>
/emote -=-=-=-[Persons Name] Cure's <t>-=-=-=-=-

Yes, it was an emote, and she SPAMMED it. I think the party even booted her for it haha.

heehee, I partied with Keefe once before, we actually killed the Rank 3 Dragon together. (Not sure he remembers me though . . .) I found his macros amusing, but I'm also fairly tolerant of creative macros. The puller in our static even has this macro for a pull:

"Oh look, the <t> wants to be friends. KILL IT!!!"

Something like that, I can enjoy, even after I've seen it hundreds of times (which I have, lol). Now if her macro were lacking even a smattering of creativity (like the 20 million Rick James knockoffs), offensive (like the provoke macros that have people cussing at, or doing unmentionable things to the target), or god forbid mispelled, that would drive me nuts.

Emote macros, when used in regular party play, are the most asinine. If you've got an ability or spell on a macro, you should NOT have an emote attached to it. Period. Now, having said that, I've found some of the macros with emotes not used in party play to be quite funny. Best example is a Taru we partied with one in Kazham, Jyupitaa. He was playing Dragoon at the time, and had this macro:

/hurray motion
/em sticks his spear up <t>'s butt

He must've done that to my husband's Elvaan like 15-20 times while we were waiting for the WHM to show up. Much fun was had in the downtime, discussing his aspirations at proctology, lol.

^^

I was once blacklisted without even knowing it... found out when me and the other person partied again together like 20 levels later....... She unblisted me later in that party since it wasnt working. But it was racking my brain though... why was i blacklisted???
She had forgotten why.... then later she told me it was because of my macros.
Never mentioned which one.... but i got an idea of which one it is.....

/target <bt>
/follow <t>
/a <t>
/p I don't think you trust in my self-rightious suicide, <t>.

But it wasnt like i SPAMMED it.... I'm a BLM... how often do i actually engage a monster.

Oh and the line is from a song called CHOP SUEY by System of a Down.

But the ones that bother me are the boost macros..... Boost is done SO often.

I wish there were an option to turn off calls......

Rick James is a singer... I don't care enought to google for it either, but I think the upshot of it all is that he was famously quoted as saying "I'm Rick James, bitch!" to someone, under some sort of circumstance.

Yes. The Rick James crap is very annoying. When I was leveling MNK in Qufim a little while ago, a WAR/MNK had a Boost macro that said "I'm Rick James Bitch" every time he used Boost, which was every 15 seconds during downtime. I think Boost should just have a macro that the party doesn't see, since it's used every 15 seconds when you're not fighting. Like:

/ja "Boost" <me>
/wait 15
/echo Boost ready

Or does it make TOO MUCH sense??

Lol i learned that the hard way. Im all about clever macros and only use them when i can think up something funny to say. Like...

/p no wonder they call me a <Hot Shot>...
/wait 1
/ws "Hot Shot" <t>

That one is informative and witty...

Sadly i put on on Utsusemi while i was leveling ninja. Problem is as you know they dont always come through when you say such and such is ready so i ended up spamming it. Lol i changed it later on cause someone asked me to.

My personal favorite though is...

/nin "Tonko: Ichi" <me>
/wait 4
/say Ninja....VANISH

I got that from Tatsu in Ninja turtles 2. I like that one cause i dont spam but then all the newbs are like "Hey cool"

Ones that annoy me, I think, are the ones that try and be all mystical and heroic...in noob speak.

/ma "Cure" <t>
/p dont worry <t> i wil {Cure} ur wounds w/ light

I've actually seen that one. Kind of ruins the effect, doesn't it?

hehe ya i find the cure macros pretty annoying......
I dont really think its necessary that u tell ur party who u are curing each time u use it.........(which is ALOT for a whm! ) unless maybe u are sharing healing duties with another pt member....

Faedryth!! You stole -MY- Tonko macro! You bastage! @.@!!!!11!!

j/k.

But I have been using that for a while... and yes, that's where I picked it up from as well. TMNT2 ^^ Great minds, as they say... but I'd like to add to the list of crazy/annoying/stupooopid macros:

/ja "Divine Seal" <me>
/wait 2
/ma "Raise" <t>

.... why bother ; ; Raise isn't a Cure magic, it's Enhancing or Divine, but it isn't Healing magic, am I right or -COMPLETELY- wrong?

-anything in a macro written in "leet" form

-poor grammar, needlessly capitalized words, etc... ugh... this is the Editor in me coming out... no wonder I love English so much.

-Warp set into a macro... ie: BLM jamming for that Drain macro, but fumbles onto Warp and ends up in Jeuno while you're fighting things in Buburimu. Warp is lazy enough of a spell (and I love it :D, but its pretty bad when laziness extends to take away a few keystrokes of a commonly used spell.

-people who spam macros with text attached to them (Boost or Provoke are examples) trying to catch when the timer hits "Ready!". I spam those macros, but I never attach text to them, so it always appears that I'm keeping my cool and hitting that 'voke every 30 secs... lol this way I only spam myself ^^

 ... I'm really bad at this ... I'm a macro queen ... but in my defense the reason I spam my voke when on Warrior or I spam my cure when on White Mage is so that no matter what if something bad happens it's in the log (ie. if a party member happens to die I can say "Check the log.") ...

Sorry but too many blame the main tank and/or whm for deaths ... well I learned long ago to cover my ass ... in rl and ingame  ...

Actually Raise is healing magic. I have had my healing magic skill raise from casting Raise. However there are no benifts whatsoever from casting Divine Seal with it that I can tell, of course I could be wrong though. I thought people figured that out and quit doing it months ago.
