Recently, one of my accounts that i play has been "stolen" (easiest way to put it because i don't know how) and sold to a consumer on IGE. While i have been working diligently on recovering my account or getting information on how this happened i keep running into one dead end after another. The most information i've gotten out of anyone is IGE saying they were contacting there "vendor" for answers, this was 4 days ago and after talking to them again today they still don't have an answer for me.
As heartbreaking as it is, i honestly am so lost and confused and sad that i don't know where to turn or what to do anymore. I have tried contacting SE and all they did was say that we could turn it over to the police for an investigation which i've done.

My question to you all is, should i keep waiting in hopes that someday i'll get my account back? Since i got off chat with IGE this morning with no new information i've been pondering spending the last of my gil to raise yet another character and try and regain some of my crafting skill though powerleveling it (costly as it is, my first time doing crafts i never powerleveled them). The only advantage i have here is i have a 30blm taru character that i've got inactive atm, that is mattizon. How long should i wait, and is taking his whm back to the lvl i was at befor the right way to go? I vowed when i made passions i wouldn't create anymore characters, that it was time to start focusing on the ones i had. since then i've passed off some of my 7 origional accounts to friends, that have since quit anyways, and i down sized myself to 3 accounts and about 9 characters (counting mules).

Is it worth it to take a lvl 18whm/30blm back to 63 with all spells and capped skills? get rank 5 again? get af again? is it worth it to powerlevel one crafter 60 with decent lvld subs?

This whole situation has me down in the dumps, its people like silfer, neyla, the people that helped me with 5-1 last night, and my g/f rikuku that keep me here today and not of quit after this happened to me. Please help me with your ideas, i honestly don't think this is something i WANT to handle on my own anymore, it's just to hard on me.
 
No, I would just hack the shit out of whoever bought and sold it. Someone tried to hack into my Bro's account and do the same thing but they failed. Sorry to hear it happened to you.

If your going to lose sleep over this then it's probably not best to chase after this stolen item. Then again you worked very hard on that account with crafts and all and some noob ran off and sold it for what? 100-500 bucks? What I don't believe is that it's sold over night man. I mean I don't know the actual details but was it an instant thing? Well If you can't retrieve your stolen account then just go ahead and start up that other char. I mean your a pretty hardcore gamer, Bro.

I lost my mind leveling another char on my account. After about lvl 32 war on my taru i got BORED! -.-
 
Don't give up on trying to get your other character back, otherwise you leave absolutely no hope of getting her.

You could try lvling another mage type job, or perhaps brd on this tarutaru character you have. You don't have to go with whm necessarily, unless of course you have other reasons for choosing that.

Either way, the game's purpose is for one's enjoyment. If you like lvling, if you found all the missions/quests etc fun to do, why not work on your other character in the meantime?

I'm kinda missing the dunes and Kazham myself... thinking of taking a break soon and lvling another job. It seems there's more talking and time to "relax" in the lower lvl parties.... and I think I had more fun in those parties even though you're more likely to run into noobs (not newbs)

Just how exactly does one go about stealing an account?
I would imagine that if you have all the original paperwork for it, such as the registration codes and POL IDs and such, then it should be no problem to prove that you are the legitimate account holder.

.. and ffs, use better thread titles, it's not that hard.
 
I sent a tell to Tittimonga and the person at the other end said that they had bought the account for their sister and they were checking to see what the character had on it before handing it over.

That's all I know unfortunately, and it was before I found out about your predicament. I didn't know what to think..
 
Actually without providing the propor billing info se won't help you
I've got past bills payed on the account all the reg keys and they wouldn't even talk to me because they had changed the billing info.
If they hadent done that I could of reset the password but they did and so se said they could only report it for me to the authorities, so that was all I could do.

I I had whm because my characters worked in a circle together. Pan was tank passions was damage dealer/hate control and titti was healer. It was my version of soloing and what I planed on doing at 75 for merriting. I just need to strech my patents

I thought my tittle fit fine sorry.

In all honesty, it sounds like SE is supporting account selling, as everyone who sells an account changes billing information =/
 
It's possible to steal a character. If they hack into your file with your password, they can steal their information and sell it over IGN or whatever it's called. That happened to another friend. He called SquareEnix and somehow got it to work out.
 
SE say's that the protection of our "files" is our own issue and they do not support anything for it. That is what the guy told me at least when i talked to them. Basically what Uzor said is what SE is thinking i'm guessing {/sigh}
As long as they get there money they don't care who the hell does what, long as they got money coming into there accounts.



he also said the accounts are under 20bit encription, that just made me laugh. if people can hack into wireless systems i'm pretty sure they can hack SE account info.

How does that work though? How does someone go about finding out your info? The only way i see this possible is if you gave up account info to friends or downloaded some kinda hax0rz.

Come on, no offense but that sounds like half the story.
Who did you share the account info with, who else was using your account? What programs did you run that could have possibly have a keystroke logger attached to it? etc etc.

I honestly do not believe some random fluke that caused your account passwords to be transmitted online.
 
i run a wify setup at my house, been awhile since i checked its security. Maybe they got it that way, i've changed everything i can and ran system checks on everything. Unless they got it from my friends house, i used to play over there and he's on wify also. He wouldn't sell it though, he still play's it every once and awhile and we've been rl friends for years (he's also got more money then me lol)

maybe i should rethink him >.<
He's been wanting me to quit i know that much. Hell i dont know what to think anymore.

actually that is all you need, the pol id and password to make any change you want to billing. you need the reg keys to make more controls for accounts and to reset passwords.
 
The range of your WiFi router is minimal. If you are in an appartment, then maybe your neighbours could have picked up your signal, but they would have to be pretty good at packet sniffing, decrypting, and most importantly, they would have to have POL installed to do anything with your account.

Getting the account info read out of a wireless transmission is way past script kiddies level, people who know how do work this kind of thing wouldn't mess with selling someone's account to IGE. There are way better and more productive ways to use one's capabilities to wait for the once every few hours transmitted POL login.

My money is on that someone you know and you gave the account info to is shafting you.

If it is i know who the person is, i just dont think he'd go that low to make me quit this game. He gave up trying to play it to spend time with me on the game so maybe. Still the point that i didn't sell it, and it got sold. I'm still holding hope of getting it back.
 
So you sent IGE the info to sell your character, changed your mind, and they went ahead and sold your character anyway? If you sent them your password info, changed your mind, and left your password unchanged, you deserve your fate. Did IGE at least pay you? Don't bother trying to come back, just hop onto one of the new mmos coming.

Techniqally i'm not "coming back" I'm trying to get one of my accounts back. I still have 2 active accounts.

Yeah really man This is no time to joke. Bet if someone stole your account you'd be pissed as well.

I just think the new titti should just hand the account back over. Is that really so hard for the Account buyer/gil buyer to do? Have you tried talking to him?


lol yeah if he'd buy an account chances are be buys the gil.
