O_O Amazing if true. SE is still unable to confirm or deny a true release date, but we'll see at TGS 07.

well it was confirmed as a December relese, so it's probably accurate.

OMG GU Vol. 3 is out?!

Also, Gamestop.com lists The Vana'Diel Collection 2008 for the PC/360 to come out that same day.

I don't care about release date I just want to know what jobs there are.

12th of March. DAMN YOU SE!!!1

(Yes I know you meant 3rd December)

Heh, I was thrown off by what you meant. I was like "Eh? They're holding EU release until March?" and was about to reply with "I doubt they'd hold an MMO expansion when the game is global."

Then it hit me.

In the words of my goonfathers, HURF DURF DATING FORMATS

Hmm. I keep reading WotG as "Way to Go" for some reason -.-

As a former EBGames/Gamestop Employee They always will put a date in the register at some point, so they can get Pre-Orders. It is common practice for them to add a title at the first Monday of a full week in a month.

This date is just for getting Pre-Orders.

Also it said Winter of 2007, but winter 2007 actually goes from Dec. 22, 2007 to Mar. 20, 2008

So technically the game can come out anywhere between them dates.

It may not be this year at all, yet it might. No confirmed date has been set from SE yet.

I also went there last week and saw this at gamestop. I wouldn't take it to heart at all and everyone should wait until SE says something.

Their goal, like mot companies, is to get the games up for sale before Christmas. Its financially the best release date in December, since it means people can give it away as a christmas gift.

Additionally, Winter 2007 excludes all dates past 31st of December, since technically that's no longer the year 2007. If it were between Jan. 1st 2008 to March 20. 2008, they would have said Q1 2008. Winter 2007 is generally referred to as late November to late December, while you normally refer to an uncertain October > December date as Q4. In these cases, they normally aim for a Winter release, though, unless they strategically plan for an earlier release for one reason or another, for example, match it with the release of a movie, platform release, or release before another game in the same genre, either of the same platform or another platform.

As for the release date they set, I can almost guarantee that's a date they themselves set (read: not SquareEnix) so that people will start preordering it, and for people to prepare for a release in December. It will almost certainly be pushed back. Considering SE is about 40% done with the game, those 40% being the maps and mob designs, they most likely only have a base outline of the plot involved in the game, and are yet to actually start programing it in to the game. As we're all well-aware of, it takes SE close to a year to actually finish releasing the full plot.

I went to Gamestop and checked it. I got worried for a second there as it wasn't included in the OP. Plus, Skaw's idea of it possibly being released in Marketplace is awesome.

.hack Vol 3 is out?! I told myself I need to beat FFXII before I get into Volume 3!! XD Guess I am a lier.

I just got it yesterday. Severely underleveled from last volume :x

I didn't even notice this at first, but they are releasing the Vana'diel Collection 08 for PS2 users, so that means it will allow people to find the expansions they missed if they liked playing on PS2.
