Would you blind someone who blinded you with acid?

Raping a woman in middle east i believe is a serious crime (heard it from Dayner) you can face stoning to death for it.

Gang Raped a woman just because she is outside without a man? highly unlikely. Probably she would get whip or something for that. Then again, i never visit (and never will go there) any middle east country.

Read the news, happened last year.

I was just talking about this with someone, and he brought up an interesting point. How many people would be totally behind this if it had been another man he had done this to, for whatever reason?

I don't think its the right choice, no matter who the victim was. But just wondering if anyone here would shift their position if the victim had been a man?

If it were a man throwing acid in another mans face because of rejection, they would kill the guy throwing the acid. It's illegal to be gay in Iran.

Re: The gang-raping incident - The attackers appealed, and even then their sentences were doubled and their lashes were doubled. We don't even do lashes here (even though the UCMJ still allows for it in cases of mutiny).

While I'm right there with all of you outraged folks who are of the opinion that this act is despicable, and that punishment needing to fit the crime, but where does one draw the line?

Do you offer up a sex offender's child to be brutalized at the hands of said offender's victim's parents, solely because they want some twisted sense of justice?

Mild? Shit, I'd rather be killed by firing squad than have acid poured on my face. Some things are worse than death.

Awwwr muffin. I guess he should have thought about that before he attacked her in the manner he did.

You may choose the easy way out. Some people have false pride. This man may choose life over death, then again he sounds like a pussy to me so he'd probably (if given the choice) pussy out too.

I have ALWAYS believed this should be practiced. Maybe I'm twisted, I like to think I'm fair.

If a boy or girl is sexually molested for any period of time that can destroy their ENTIRE life. They don't get to choose the easy way out and ask for death, though the mental damage may drive them to suicide someday

I am glad that the guy is getting punished greatly for the wrong that he has done and the message that it will send the guys out there but I personally wouldn't ask for him to be blinded as well. It does sound like they would be just putting the acid in his eyes and not on his face so it still wouldn't be as severe as what he did to her. I might would feel differently if it actually happened to me or I lived in that region. Either way I would want him to go to prison for it. I hope that the courts continue to crack down on the abuse that some of the men have done to the women in that region.

No, odds are they typically practice on their children before they branch out and abuse children they grab on the street. Those people should just be killed.

Its all well and good that HER lashes got doubled and jail time and THEIR jail sentences were extended, but the punishment for RAPE in that area (as the article says) is DEATH. I think they're getting off a bit light, no?

Clearly I misread the article, and took it to understand that the attackers were jailed and given the whip for the crime.

Either way, [personal opinion]Saudi Arabia has some fucked-up laws, as do most non-secular societies.[/personal opinion]

It's times like this that I wish Superjail wasn't just a cartoon on Adult Swim...

The ability to care about how cruel it is to subject that guy to a taste of his own medicine goes out the window after the original crime happens to you.

Exactly. And so does the ability to reason the far-reaching consequences of retaliation. Which is why there are laws (in U.S. for example) preventing vigilante justice. That is, as a society we must look out for ourselves by the use of critical thinking. In no way should the perpetrator get away with a crime but if we exact the eye for an eye form of justice for everything we may as well go back to living in caves.

Anyone who participates in carrying out a legitimate hate crime might as well be living in a cave outside of society in the first place.

Do I think it's cruel? Not really when you look at the victim and how her life is completely warped being disfigured and all. A person, that in their mind, thinks its ok to pour acid on someone's face and show no remorse about it speaks volumes.

Just looking for a little clarification here. So are you saying that you believe that if little Allison is molested by some sick fuck, then the sick fuck's daughter, Suzy, should be handed over to Allison's parents to brutalize/molest?

Hrrmm....not an easy question for me here technically yes it's kinda sorta(well is) related to Islamic law but that doesn't mean it's always followed through. The better aim is forgiveness/moving on the highest form of resolve in conflict. That doesn't mean she isn't entitled to making him blind.

Archaic yes, I don't see why not really. I see this man as someone who thought himself above the woman and decided to "punish" her for not meeting up to his desires. Why not have something bring him back into reality?

Also there is a thing called repentenace maybe he'll learn from his sin and move on with his live trying to better himself. I'm not the one to say that it will happen nor it can't happen.

Careful as well not to draw the conclusion that Islam allows for this kind of abuse because really it's uncalled for to either gender. People interpret things different and can(or will) miscontrue them intentionally or unintentionally.

I would develop my other four senses to a super-high degree and fight crime wearing a silly devil costume.
I see what you did there

Fuck him, animals don't deserve rights. Well, actual animals deserve them, but not this type of animal.
In fact, if it were done to me, there wouldn't be any punishment great enough. You could blind him, take his hearing, take his nose, take his arms, legs and tongue and chain him to a bed for the rest of his life and it still wouldn't satisfy me. The only way I'd feel slightly better is if I knew he suffered every day for his entire life and for eternity afterwards.

I'm, of course, infinitely spiteful.

Personally I'd want him blinded or killed.

But looking at it from a perspective of what their country is going through, i'd say what is happening is wrong.

That is definitely not the way to be more civilized.

This is why you see middle eastern people beheading thier wives right here in America. Because of examples set over there.
