WoW Forums

The WoW forum isn't going to be going private again. When it was private we had reported posts with rampant baits going between all parties. We made you public and that got significantly less.

I like to think we've been pretty good at leaving you guys alone, but if you want to make posts like, "HI MIREWEN I'M A ROCKET AND A TRUCK!!!! OH LAWDDDD" go join the B@W forum.

Everyone raise your hand if you care about your post count on an internet forum about a video game.

Give our private status back if you new moderators are going to be anal about shit like this.

There's only one new moderator; get with the times. Who reported it isn't an issue, and the mere fact that it concerns anyone who did the reporting is troubling.

It didn't belong in The Lounge, and to re-create it in a different (public) area of the forum was a snide way of handling it, even if it wasn't meant as such.

Seems that the flavor-of-the-month rallying cry is now "[Verb] if you [verb] about [noun] on an internet forum about a video game".

When the boards were private, users within reported posts which caused the boards to become public. The private forums are no longer being handled since the social groups are out. If you want you can create a WoW social group and go from there. Or post on eachothers VMs or whatnot. But as for the forum itself, I'm guessing people want it content based instead of irrelevant posts.

The Warcraft board has one board, one general board. There are topics of patch notes, upcoming raids, etc. everywhere on the front page. I don't recall a time where we had even one whole page full of new threads.

Like I said earlier, we're a community within a community; we have one board to keep in touch with each other. Legomyeggo was gone for however long and he posted a 'shoutout' topic in off topic. He didn't complain to mods, didn't complain to anyone, simply reposted it where he knew Mirewen would probably check, and all of his cronies would probably check.

Seriously, stop being so anal about content that you(mods), wouldn't even care about if it weren't for our boards being public.

He could have simply posted a VM or posted on his private forum that he has where all his buddies go to as well. From the looks of it, the WoW forum is supposed to be a place to go to and get information on WoW, not pointless HI2U threads. Maybe suggest a meet and greet and say what's up? Or maybe make a post that has more then trucks and sphagetti or whatever it was.

I am not part of that forum, it wasn't just to me.

go join the B@W forum

Holy lack of maturity. B@W isn't the only forum that makes such threads. Get over it.

As sneaky said before. The mods don't have the time to troll the forums and delete everything. Even if we had the time, it isn't something that we want to do. All 4 of the awesome "HI _____" threads were reported. They were looked at, and deleted. Just because its the WoW forum doesn't make it immune to the rules. You can say you have your own community, but you still follow the same rules as everyone else.

And, contrary to popular belief, private forums are implicitly subject to QCDN rules as well.

Indeed they should be. I had access to all of the private forums when I was an admin. Had to clean up a LOT of them because they were pretty damn useless.

Devil's advocate, if it was just you then wouldn't a VM suffice?

Re-read what I said. It wasn't just to me, it was his way of letting his friends know he wasn't dead. You can only send a PM to 5 people at once. It's allowed in meet and greet. It's his sense of humour.

In all my years of knowing Luis, "Hey Mirewen" would translate to "HEY YOU FUCKS I'M BACK" or something along those lines. It seems silly that it needed to be deleted, then reported, and then deleted again. It's not like he created a thread about blasphemy among moderators on the flameboard, like 99% of the members on this forum would do.

Well regardless, I know that the response you'll be getting over and over again will be this in regards to the rules

Spam - The spam thresh hold varies by forum and its at the staff's discretion to decide when enough is enough. We're here to have fun but we also want to be a useful resource for the rest of the FFXI community.

Just puttin in the two cents and that's it for me! Have fun you everyone. :3

This may just be me here but considering that the most of qcdn doesn't know Lego like the WoW people do, maybe they thought a "Hey Mirewen" was nothing but spam. Maybe naming it "Hey guys, I'm back" wouldn't have gotten it reported or w/e happened.

Which is why it was reposted again in the WoW forum? But whatever broskis, do what you want. I'm not paying for the site, and could careless what goes on outside of the WoW/Offtopic forums.

Had to put this back out there ^^;

The bold part is the key. In most governing systems its laws and rules go Country > State/Province > City/Town (or more depending, but you get the idea). The State/Province is a Community withing the Community of the respective Country. So, as others have indicated, QCDN rules apply within all "QCDN" boards regardless of their intended topic (which it does occasionally allow exceptions but only when spelled out).

I would recommend requesting a sub-forum for meet and greets specific to the WoW section (may as well do War Hammer too).

Or, people need to be less butthurt about what they consider PC+1 posts in a subforum that they only browsed on a whim, just because they see Post Count as some golden value that must be increased only with well thought out and topically contributing posts. If that were the case, a lot of this forums activity wouldn't be going on because there certainly isn't a whole lot of well thought out posts being made, and even less topically contributing ones.

PC +1 is just a quicker way of saying, "garbage spam." If I cared about the actual post count when referencing, for example the flameboard, I could always go in an adjust settings accordingly.

If someone wants to post "HI MIREWEN," is meet and greet all to unreasonable a place to do such? I wouldnt want to see bs posts like, "lets see how long this takes to get deleted" or the sort, but if the sentiment is just a well humored "hi" take it where it belongs. I don't see why it is required to be an exclusively WoW topic. It isn't logical.

Everyone that participtes in the WoW board is a member of QCDN and has access to all the same general boards. Why the stink here?

Bi-daily mod bashing. I love it.

Truck.

As I said before, but will mention again for emphasis...

If it wasn't reported to suck, I wouldn't EVER look at that forum.
So, essentially, you've got your own forum. When something about it (or any other forum) bugs someone enough to make a report, it's my obligation to take a look. If, at that time, I find a puddle of piss, I'll clean it up. If not, I'll leave it as is.
If I never hear of a problem in that part of the world, trust me, I'd rather spend time on other things, and you'll never hear from me.

I wasn't mod bashing, as was said in my OP I just wanted to know who was moderating the WoW forum because there have been posts with insults, flames etc. that I have reported in the past that I basically got the response "We don't moderate that" and now that I see posts/threads that I took part in being deleted it's more of a slap in the face because apparently it's ok to flame me for no reason meanwhile deleting my posts.
