Not really console-related, but why are game threads here claiming to be "official"? Are we sanctioned by the developers as the "official" forum for discussion of their games?

No real bother to me, it's all the same... just seems like a bit of a pissing match between our users. "I played this game, it was coo-" "STOP RIGHT THERE ASSHOLE, MY THREAD IS OFFICIAL ALL DISCUSSIONS OVER THERE!"

I'm sure there was some cataclysmic incident on this subforum that triggered the need for this distinction. Insert "STOP RIGHT THERE ASSHOLE, USE THE FORUM SEARCH OVER THERE!" synonymies here.
 
Well I don't know about you, but I only like to listen to official speculation.
 
Was I the only person expecting this topic to be about this? Maybe that's just because I see the game almost everyday with people submitting new titles to unlock. I think they are just making them up at this point.
 
Its more so that there isn't a new thread every time someone buys a certain game or downloads a demo. Just keeps shit organized i guess. If it makes you feel better people can start calling them "Main 'game' topic" it just seems official is more commonly used here and else where, at least from what I've seen.

Pffft... if it doesn't come in a bottle, it won't make me feel better. I'm just comparing to the PC forum where threads are simply titled after the game name. Granted there's about 6-7x as many threads here, but really... if an incapable user is gonna post a thread here, will a title of "Penisland official thread" stand out to them any more than "Penisland"?

I wonder if that's a real game...

Edit: OT, I think it's only really the 360 forum where there are "official" threads. Far as I can remember only one in the PS3 section and not sure if any in Nintendo (and none in PC :D)

And Idk Cmdr, ask chasym he seems to be the one doing 90% of them. I made the Halo one so that when new news was released every other day before it came out people would just post it there. Look at this:

Apparently we need two "Official" Lost Odyssey threads. And also I guess my Devil May Cry thread wasn't good enough cause chasym had to make an "Official" one a few weeks later.
 
Chasym likes to make Official threads, because he's so haxxor and can play the game before everyone else.

"Official" comes from the fact that when he plays it, there isn't any more speculation about it, or whatever. He explained himself once, but its still stupid to make another thread just because you have the "official" word.
 
I believe it's done so there won't be 10 threads about the same subjects lol.
 
i do it that way because usually before the game comes out there is already a thread made of speculation and talk about the game, So i start a new official thread so all the talk within that thread is of information after the game comes out, that way no one has to sift through pages of speculation and talk to get to real information on the final game.
not because i might play it early or just want to add the word official, i just felt it was more organized and helpful to those looking for solid final information on the game and can read others impressions on the game before making a final decision to pick it up.
Didnt think it bothered anyone :/
if youd like another word besides official go ahead lol, usually the speculation thread is just the title of the game.

i would have posted in my LO thread had i not been dealing with the death of my friend instead of worrying about that, mine can be deleted since it wont be used anyway, i dont mind. I wasnt around to do anything with it and wont be for awhile.

as for the DMC thread, i believe that one was based on the demo?

Honestly, if this is an issue i dont mind if you guys dont want me to post them anymore...no biggie. Dont wanna be a hassle.
if you prefer me just not to make new threads and add to current ones...i will. Or if you just dont want the word official, no problem.
If you dont want me to make a new thread for a game after i play it...no problem there either.

Lol i could give two shits less man, I'm just giving you shit. In all honesty i kinda like having an "official" thread for said games, but I think if theres already a thread for said game, making a new official one is a little silly, as is having two official threads for one game.
 
Its alright man, some people bitch just to bitch lol. It's good to call them official so there won't be 10 other threads. More organized to keep it all in one thread.

lol not being a pussy, was just seeing if it was the majority whom didnt like it, i agree there shouldnt be two official threads, LO i think is the only one i have seen but like i said i dont have net and im having a hell of a time finding a service in my area since they all say its available then tell me on the phone its not available over here and if i want it ill have to pay the price to have it installed for my neighborhood, a hefty cost. so im still lookin right now.
If i had been around i woulda updated the LO thread but if you all dont mind i would like to keep up the official thread organization when new games actually come out, i dont play every game but i play alot of em.
Workin through LO right now and playing scene it and rock band!
 
No bother to me. I'm used to seeing "official" game topics/forums coming from an "official", as in developer-authorized, source. Doesn't mean we have to follow the same rules.
 
ill come up with a different term whenever i get back online for good, dealing with alot right now
edit: actually how about whoever makes the pre release discussion thread just title it Game title Pre-release discussion and then when it comes out we can have a post release discussion?

Two threads are silly, especially for something like pre and post release. If someone doesn't have the patience to read a thread about a game, then chances are they shouldn't be getting the game.
 
because some pre release discussions can go on for quite awhile, like the halo thread did.
Its much more organized to be able to read about what a game is like after it comes out from post 1, instead of having to flip through pages and skim posts to see where the speculation ends and the facts begin.
