Today while lfg I see a Dragoon lfg around crawlers. He is 40Drg/15War.

So, I take it upon myself to send him a little tell.

>>> Please level your subjob. You will do better and get more invites if you do.

I don't get a reply to this, and I just go about my business, when about twenty minutes later I get a tell.

>>>It's rude to just send someone a tell their subjob isn't leveled.

...okay... wait, this isn't even the same guy. :?

Anyway I return his tell:

>>>Thank you for your advice.

...five minutes... nothing.

Okay, so I sedn another set of tells:

>>>You're a bit fo a hypocrite.
>>>Sending someone a tell and then ignoring them is also rude.

Then I do a sea all to find this guy, and lo and behold... he's a level fifty-some DRK with a Thief sub at about level 12.

...isn't it nice that gimps have a support group? Anyway, it just kinda bugged me and irked me at the same time that this happened over some thoughtful advice.

So why not post it in flame boards? :P

What's this point?
I'm tired of seeing peopoe pointing the fingers at the obvious, It's crawlers nest, Fuck I'm remember that cunt Kristell bringing her RDM to level 46 with a lv11 blm SJ.

This is old news, people are dumb fucks. Give us some more interesting to read about.... Like if the dude you sent you the tells turned out to be a GM! Abd banned your account for 10 days! Because the other gimp was a JP!

Bah...

My point is some of these topics are getting a little boring... No offense.

I got an idea, let's make a flame on how typos suck.

Then again, let's not.

I lvled war to 30 with a lvl 10 mnk sub. I was such a nooblet

So post in the topic and bump it? You nub.

I know... I just felt like I was entitled to waste space too.

I can't play FFXI for awhile so yes, I will be raping the boards for the next couple weeks.

Gotta get a new credit card....

Highjack possibility?

I hate people who referr to a sub not being maxed as "gimped"....yes, you get a bonus at this level, and another level, and every level adds a LITTLE bit, but unless them not having a certain level subjob causes them to miss out on something terribly useful, why does it matter? Yes, if they can have 15THF, SA is great. if they can have 30THF, SATA is godly with a DRK. 10NIN is good for Dual Wield, 12 for Utsusemi. Is there even a gap between 12 and 25 (Dual Wield II) that make it worth having, the few extra stat points it gives aside?

This is just my view - I don't see a sub as gimped unless it's extremely underlevelled (such as that DRK/THF) or if it causes them to not have some skill they could very easily have at that level with the sub. But not being maxed level isn't really "gimped" to me - If someone parties with you and the party turns out better than expected and they gain two levels, and you suddenly notice that they're 42/20, are you gonna scream bloody murder that they're now gimped? (this actually happened to me once, too.....)

Just...no. There's a difference between a gimp and...uhhm.......not-quite-up-to-par, I suppose...
I'd preferr everyone have max subjob, cause every bit can help, but if someone's short like...a level, I personally wouldn't give a crap, unless it stops em from a new skill/spell, which I've already ranted about. Soooo~

I think the point of the person pointing out that the DRG had a underlvl'd sub was prolly seeing how DRGs have a hard enough time getting invites. If a DRG has a underlvl'd sub...I would imagine the invites would be pretty harsh. At least, being DRG, thats how I saw it....but who am I to know...i'm just some guy. *runs off*

i think he means this guy was 56/15, thats just lazy and doesnt deserve an invite ever

The main reason I'm hesitant to invite someone to a party if they have a gimped sub isn't because they're weaker, but because having an underleveled sub just screams "lazy" to me. Unless I know the person already, having an underleveled sub tells me that they aren't serious about their job. Since I'm rather serious about any parties I lead, I'm far less inclined to invite them unless I have to.

And yes, I know that there are exceptions; leveling enough in one party so that your sub is no longer up-to-date is completely understandable, especially if the person wasn't expecting to hit that level in that party. If you're asked to use a sub you don't normally use, it's understandable to not have that sub up to max, as long as it's close (for example, if I invite a RDM/BLM and ask him to use his WHM sub, I'd understand if it wasn't maxed).

Of course, going lfg when you don't have any subs at the max level is completely different, and should be avoided.

Also a drg has to wait days to get a party invite sometimes so obviously that "gimped" drg has the time to level but just feels why should he bother? I mean that screams of laziness and personally I hate that. If someone is that lazy, I can probably expect him/her to not play the job well and can almost expect bad equip or lacking spells. I mean if they are too lazy to level why bother farming? That's more time consuming. Or why even bother getting a subjob if you don'y use it? Hell go to 75 without a subjob see how far that gets you. Not trying to be mean and its one thing for a level or 2 difference but more than that is unreasonable.

Personally the only time I was ever gimped was in the dunes and I had no sub... But thats just me.

If someone's lfg with a 15+ thf sub, but it's underleveled, they might just be farming while waiting for an invite. I've done it before and I'm sure countless others have too. When you see a WHM73/THF32 lfg, you know they have to be farming. When I do that, I always have in my comment <job> = <Black Mage> so that they know that I have a real sub to use.

Taking offense when someone offers a suggestion to maybe level their sub up a bit is just stupid. You obviously get more invites with a leveled sub, but some people are just ignorant, stubborn or stupid.

That being said, I've gone most of 60-73 so far with blm underleveled at some point or another. It'd only be by maybe 1 level or two, and I didn't need the +2 mp offered by that extra level or the ability to cast Aero 2, but it was still underleveled. I still got invites, but I also made the effort to level blm up when I got the chance, if only to stop the ridicule from my LS to level my sub.

The main reason why I didn't level it wasn't due to laziness, but partially due to finannces. I didn't have the money to buy some of the blm gear I needed/wanted and I didn't want to sell some of my whm gear for 2 days; when it might not be available when I get back to whm. I still got invites, and haven't really noticed a change when I had it properly leveled, so I was far from gimped. But again, 1-2 levels, where you don't gain anything even remotely useful, is far different than being 5+ levels underleveled and missing something usefull.

Ok, I skimmed through most of this...My comment is in relation to the 'lazy' thing. Now let's be honest here....People don't level their sub to it's full potential, why? Not because they are lazy. Because they are overeager to level their main.

I know some people who play a main job and do a damn good job at it, but have pretty badly underleveled subs. Are they lazy? No, as a matter of fact they are quite the opposite. How the hell else did they get their main that high? They are just overeager to hit a milestone on their main job, so they tend to say "Oh well I'll tend to that when I hit level __."

My main time of being gimped was when I hit 30 and changed my sub to SMN - mainly because I didn't know the schematics of how SMN worked, and because no one wanted to party with me since I only had Carby..
But no I have no gimped sub and can safely hit 75WHM ^^

BLM to 30 with a lvl 8 WHM sub... bitch.

To be honest I just don't invite gimps, I just let them sit there with their flag up, why waste my time?

My First job as Krono was a WHM, I leveled it all the way to 31 with a Lv11 SJ.

When I hit lv30, The first job I picked for a AJ was SAM, Why you ask? Because standing around curing sucks.

Ya know though, Im glad someone finally brought it to my attention wtf i was doing all those leveling. If someone kicked me out and told me nicely i was a gimp, I would have levled BLM, and perhaps I would be a Lv75 WHM/BLM or WHM/SMN right now. But Instead I leveled ALmost everyjob to alteast lv30, expect for rdm and bst, Witch suck ass. ^^;
