Those are 2million? Wow, I bought one from the AH last year for 2k just to mess around with. Who honestly subs /drg anyway? o_o

Probably people jumping on the WAR/DRG bandwagon for the early levels.

wow.. I didn't know this was true until I checked the AH..

I sold this earring like 1-2months ago for only 200k

and I bought it when it first came out for 5k

I wish I kepted it now -_-

/drg is popular for ballista

I played with mnk/drg for a couple lvls in the 50s .. everyone gave me crap about it but the people i ptd with, personally i thought the jobs worked well together and made mnk a bit more fun, but i got tired of hearing crap from the unenlightened cookie-cutter crowd :(

I agree.. go with whatever job set up you want

like um.. Whatever floats your boat :)

Sad to say, I seen a couple threads about SAM/DRG and the self sustained Light and Dark skillchains, without the use of thier 2hr...

In a word: Nucking Futs!

I have yet to see it done though.

i can personally say that sam/drg own at least in ballista cuz well umm me and a firend got owned at the same time from a AoE ws...lol and a couple jumps.

The only advantages to /DRG I can see are this.

At level 10 you get an Attack Bonus job trait.
At level 30 you get Accuracy Bonus. Which adds about +10 ACC.
You get Jump which does extra damage and gives TP. So it's like a controlled double attack. It also stands a chance of interrupted spells if it hits for enough.
Now, You could look at it in the high level sense. When you get /35DRG you get High Jump. Which is a hate reducer, Damage adder, and TP gainer.

Those are the benefits from /DRG That I can think of. Oh and WAR/DRG with barone could TP pretty fast due to the enhancement on the pants. And he'd have the Accuracy Bonus Job Trait, so you could afford to lose 10 ACC for Attack or STR Gear.

20-30, /DRG is pretty near the best melee subjob in the game.

30+, /WAR becomes better for DPS with Berserk, and /THF becomes better for spike damage with Sneak Attack. The only exception to this is /DRG with a Wyvern Earring (and Wyvern Mantle), the +5% haste along with Jump and Attack Bonus (for jobs like MNK and SAM that don't get one naturally - /WAR doesn't give it till 60) is at the very least about even with Berserk, if not better in some cases (for example, the haste and jump mean faster TP, and +16 attack if you got a Wyvern Mantle too is a very nice CONSTANT increase, unlike the 3/5 of the time Berserk). On top of everything else, a SAM/DRG or WAR/DRG could also use a Polearm and a Lance Belt 30+. With the +5 skill, both jobs' capped Polearm Skill levels actually match A weapons, all the way up to level 42 when it drops 1 point lower and stays that way until level 51. That would be a very nice option, in my opinion, for a Warrior that needs to open Distortion for a THF.

It isn't until 50+ that /WAR becomes unquestionably better than /DRG - Double Attack... but at 70 you get High Jump which is really sexy too, especially for hatemongers like MNK. : ) And Accuracy Bonus at 60 is pretty sweet too...

I'd love to see some real parses and tests between a MNK/WAR and a MNK/DRG with a Wyvern Earring and other appropriately modified gear (for example, the /DRG would probably want to focus more on a Haste+% setup to combine with the Wyvern Earring, and could afford to drop more fulltime Accuracy because of the JT), that would be especially telling. I'd also love to see some WAR subjob comparisons; I would imagine a WAR/DRG could be pretty effective 70+ too when using a Great Axe.

Really, it only works with WAR at the end game, full potential. You lose so much dropping a better subjob for it. Berserk and Double Attack especially. Yeah, you could get a brutal earring. But why settle for 5% Double Attack when you could go 10%?

I use DRG sub for monk and nin during ballista. The cost of the earring I just don't know...

Seen a bunchof JP BLMs prancing around in this and Swift Belt. Wish they'd just sub RDM or NIN, the INT boosts from those'd probably help may more in the end..

I first purchased my Wyvern earring for 30k more than a year ago, was pissed that i over paid, sold it back and bought another for 15k. Of course i had no clue what a latent effect was back then, all i know is that I am a haste whore, plus I didnt really have any solid ear pieces either. It wasnt until I was in the Jungle that someone finally told me how to make er work. So i said screw it, I'll just have to sub drg then. And IIIIII love it! Been sporting Mnk/drg every chance i get. I have out damaged mnk/wars of the same lvl and I've out jumped dragoons consistently, granted equip plays quite the role in this scenario, but I've loaded up on every piece of +str gear I can afford. So far at 63, difference in base str between /war is 1 point. And ever since lvl 60, <accuracy bonus> <yes, please> that 5% haste is <sweets> and boostin jumps is just silli fun. But I know my role, if there's a thf in the party i sub war, for first vokes and sata's. Not once have I ever had a party member be dissappointed with my play...even had a Ls mate translate positive reviews from a Japanese party I was in. And sure, I miss double attack and berserk, but big number damage doesnt add up if you can't connect. Cookie cutter crowds, that made me laugh, so many peoples think there is just one set way to play the game, whatever your fantasy is kids, role with it. And uh, I think that's enough...Love, peace, and chicken grease

Edit: sorry, damn near forgot, worth 2 mil? not a chance in hell...
